Three Square, DoorDash team up to deliver meals
Three Square Food Bank, in partnership with DoorDash's Project Dash, is delivering over 20,000 meals monthly to homebound seniors in Southern Nevada, addressing critical food insecurity issues. This initiative has resulted in the delivery of more than 500,000 meals to date, thanks to the efforts of volunteers who pack meals at the Three Square warehouse and Dashers who deliver them. 'It is a gratified feeling to be able to have someone have access to food,' said Tara Nerida from Three Square Food Bank, highlighting the importance of their work. Sharon Simmons, a Dasher involved in the program, explained, 'There are a lot of times when they want to talk and it's great to listen to them,' emphasizing the personal connection she makes during deliveries. Three Square Food Bank has been a vital resource for addressing food insecurity in Southern Nevada, particularly among homebound seniors who face transportation barriers. The partnership with DoorDash through Project Dash allows the food bank to extend its reach by utilizing DoorDash's delivery network to bring meals directly to those in need. Volunteers at the food bank play a crucial role by packing thousands of meals each month, which are then distributed by Dashers like Sharon Simmons. The program not only provides nourishment but also offers social interaction for recipients, as Dashers often serve as the only visitors some seniors receive. Through the combined efforts of Three Square Food Bank, DoorDash, and dedicated volunteers, the program continues to make a significant impact on the lives of homebound seniors, ensuring they receive the meals and companionship they need. Three Square Food Bank offers meals over summer to Las Vegas valley students
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Three Square Food Bank is helping feed thousands of kids across the Las Vegas valley this summer with their 'Meet Up and Eat Up' program. With schools on break, many students in Clark County who rely on free school meals are left without a daily source of nutrition. To help bridge that gap, Three Square Food Bank is launching its 'Meet Up and Eat Up' program, offering free, nutritious meals to children throughout the summer. Starting Tuesday, May 27 through August 8, kids 18 and under can enjoy meals at convenient locations across the valley, including parks, libraries, rec centers, day camps, apartment complexes, and Boys & Girls Clubs. To reach even more families, refrigerated vans also deliver meals directly to selected apartment communities. Tara Nerida, Director of Programs and Research at Three Square, shared that the team prepares around 20,000 meals each week during the summer. Kids can enjoy a rotating menu featuring 20 different meal options, with some sites offering breakfast, lunch, or both. Everything is completely free—no sign-up or ID needed. For those looking to help, Nerida shared that every $1 donated to Three Square helps create 3 meals. Volunteers are also needed to help pack food boxes, deliver meals, and support distribution efforts across Southern Nevada. To find a meal site or learn how to help, click here or call 702-765-4030.
