‘Overdosed': Missing Ludhiana teenager found dead, family blames drug peddlers.
Ludhiana: A 19-year-old missing since Aug 11 was found dead on Tuesday evening in an abandoned indoor stadium near Gujjarwal village, sparking protests from locals who alleged murder by drug peddlers.
The victim, Taranpreet Singh, was last seen with four men, two of whom — Manpreet Singh 'Mani' and Jagtar Singh 'Tari' — have been arrested.
Two others remain on the run. Police claim that preliminary evidence points to a drug overdose, not foul play. The family, supported by village leaders, accused the suspects of long-running drug trafficking and said prior complaints were ignored. They threatened to escalate protests during Independence Day events.
Police have booked the accused under culpable homicide not amounting to murder and are searching for the remaining suspects.
