Tips for Reorganizing Sleep Patterns Post-Ramadan

Pasant Elzaitony During the holy month of Ramadan, it's common to stay up late for Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers, with the habit often extending into the Eid holidays. This can disrupt regular sleep patterns and lead to lethargy. Here are some optimal strategies to regularize sleep and adapt to everyday life routines, whether for work or school: - Wake Up Early: It's crucial to get up early even if you haven't had enough sleep. This helps your body adjust to your normal schedule. - Eat Early: Have your meals at earlier times and avoid heavy meals late at night to prevent sleep disturbances. - Limit Sugars and Stimulants: Reduce your intake of sweets and caffeine, especially in the afternoon, to ensure it doesn't interfere with your night's rest. - Avoid Naps: Skipping naps during the day can help you better regulate your sleep at night. - Sun Exposure: Make sure to get some sunlight during the day. It helps energize your body and provides essential Vitamin D. - Morning Exercise: Engage in light exercises like walking or jogging in the morning. In the evening, consider meditation or prayer to wind down. - Evening Relaxation: A warm shower in the evening can aid relaxation and promote better sleep. - Avoid Dramatic Evenings: Steer clear of dramatic shows or movies in the evening as they can stimulate your mind and disrupt sleep. - Limit Evening Calls: Avoid lengthy phone conversations in the evening to keep your mind from being overactive before bed. - Be Patient: Understand that the first day might be challenging, but your mood and sleep patterns will improve over the following days as you settle into a new routine. - Adjusting back to a regular sleep schedule post-Ramadan requires patience and some adjustments, but with these steps, it can be achieved effectively. read more 15 Ludicrous Cosplay Costumes That Will Blow You Away Watch... On Ramadan nights, Islamabad residents are all cued up and ready to win

ISLAMABAD: Usman Sartaj reaches for the chalk on the edge of the snooker table and rotates it over his tip in a smooth, circular motion. Then he strikes the cue ball hard into the pack of reds, sending them around the table. The popularity of snooker often increases during Ramadan, with many people visiting their local club after breaking their fast. Things are no different in Islamabad where players like 25-year-old car dealer Sartaj spend their nights before the pre-dawn sahoor meal. 'There is a lot of buzz in snooker clubs during Ramadan,' he told Arab News at the Snooker 13 club in the city's G-13 area where he was playing after offering his Tarawih prayers. 'Snooker is a great game. It eliminates a person's tension and stress. Tournaments are held and players come from different places,' he said. Abdul Hadi, the club supervisor, said that the number of visitors rose from about 500 a day to 1,500 or 1,600 during the hours between the iftar and suhoor meals. He said it was an affordable way to spend the time. 'It's around Rs150-200 (50-70 cents) for a frame,' he said. 'So everyone can afford it, even the students.' Muhammad Shahbaz, 27, who works in Dubai but was in Pakistan to spend Ramadan and Eid with his family, said his favorite player was seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan. 'We admire Ronnie's game and love to watch and follow him,' Shahbaz said. 'We try to follow his tricks and his shots.' Pakistan also has its snooker heroes. Muhammad Asif is a three-time world amateur champion and made the last 32 of the English Open in 2023. 'There is a lot of snooker talent in Pakistan and if we want to promote it, the government has to support it,' Shahbaz said. Shavez Ahmed, a 30-year-old realtor, said there was no doubt snooker was one of the most popular games during Ramadan. 'Other games are impressive — we play cricket and badminton as well — but the craze for snooker in Ramadan never ends.'

Peshawar's iconic Sunehri Mosque sees surge of devotees in Ramadan

Peshawar: The 39-meter tall minaret is the first thing that comes into view when one arrives close to the street in Peshawar's main Saddar Bazaar where the majestic Sunehri Masjid is located. Known for its considerable size, built over an impressive 1,670 sq. meters, and Mughal-style architecture, the Sunehri, or Golden, Mosque in the capital of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is one of the most iconic masjids in the region. The mosque can accommodate at least 6,000 worshippers, making it ideal for the month of Ramadan when believers flock to mosques for Tarawih — special, voluntary prayers performed typically after the Isha (night) prayer, and considered a highly recommended Sunnah, or practice of the Prophet Muhammad. The foundation stone of the mosque was laid by Habib Ur Rehman, a Peshawar resident, in 1946 but construction work was hit by delays due unavailability of funds and security issues, and was completed in 1992, primarily funded by public donations. Rehman modeled the mosque after Lahore's iconic Badshahi Mosque, built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, the prayer leader at Sunehri Masjid, Maulana Muhammad Ismail, told Arab News. 'The foundation stone of our mosque was laid in 1946, but the situation deteriorated in Pakistan due to the wars (of 1965 and 1971), so work was stopped for a little time,' he said. Explaining the architecture, Ismail said that the central minaret, a hallmark of the mosque, was built at 39 meters (128 feet) so it could be seen from far-flung areas in Peshawar at a time when there were few tall buildings in the city. 'The need for the construction of the 128-feet-high minaret at that time was that our organizers thought that the azaan (call to prayer) of the Sunehri Masjid should reach far-flung areas,' Ismail said. The mosque is built with red bricks and famed for its signature gold domes and intricate Mughal-style architecture that features arches, domes and pointed cupolas atop the minarets. In Ramadan, more worshippers than usual throng to the Sunehri Masjid, filling up its halls and prayer rooms as they seek to deepen their connection with Allah, earn rewards, and ask for forgiveness from sins. Imran Khan, 38, is one such devotee who has been offering prayers at the mosque for the past 12 years. 'This is a beautiful mosque, I come here every Ramadan to worship and recite (the Qur'an),' Khan told Arab News. 'I especially visit a lot in Ramadan when I get the chance.' Khawar Rehman, a Peshawar resident who had come for Asr prayers at the mosque, said that he frequented the place as he liked worshiping in a 'known mosque' like the Sunehri Masjid. 'This mosque has larger congregations and better rewards,' he said, 'so I like to come here.'

Commerce Dot Com Leads CSR Effort to Celebrate Ramadan with Lanoh Tribe

PERAK, MALAYSIA - Media OutReach Newswire - 27 March 2025 - The residents of Kampung Air Bah, Lenggong, Perak; mostly Muslims from the Lanoh indigenous tribe warmly welcomed the visit from Commerce Dot Com (CDC) as they carried out a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme within the ESG framework on 20 and 21 March. The initiative is part of CDC's annual efforts to strengthen ties with local communities, while nurturing compassion, unity, and humanity among its staff. Volunteers and members of the Lanoh community gathered in unity for Tarawih prayers, sharing a spiritually uplifting moment that deepened bonds and reflected the true spirit of Ramadan. Titled 'Ukhuwah Ramadan: Santuni Masyarakat Orang Asli', the Ramadan-themed programme was executed with a unique approach. According to Djuan Onn Abdul Rahman, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing at CDC, 'This programme stands out from our other past initiatives. In collaboration with the Bambusa Foundation, we had the opportunity to directly engage with the Orang Asli Muslim community here, reaching out across all age groups. Our presence carried a simple message, sharing the daily routines of Muslims during the fasting month of Ramadan. In my view, even though we were there for just one night, we were able to enliven the spirit of Ramadan.' The initiative gathered over 300 members of the Lanoh tribe to participate in various activities, including a communal iftar, health screenings, fun games and dental care sessions conducted by the University College MAIWP International. The programme also received strong support from Universiti Malaya students, MAIWP staff and students, including CDC employees, with a total of 35 volunteers participating in the initiative. Meanwhile, Mohd Rizal Alias, Tok Batin which is head of the Lanoh community, expressed his appreciation to CDC for organising memorable Ramadan programme. He described the event as a new and enriching experience for the villagers, offering valuable exposure and something they could emulate in their daily lives.
