The Political Prisoners Foundation Forms a Special Committee to Ensure Justice for the Fayli Kurds

The Advisor to the Prime Minister on Fayli Kurdish Affairs Tariq Al-Mandalawi,, announced on Friday the formation of a special committee at the Political Prisoners Foundation to ensure justice for the Fayli Kurds.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Mandalawi said:"In a significant step toward achieving justice and addressing the long-standing exclusion and marginalization of this segment, we announce the establishment of a special committee to review the files of Fayli Kurds at the Political Prisoners Foundation and to approve the inclusion of prisoners, detainees, and those forcibly displaced."
He added that:"This step comes under the direct directive of the head of the Political Prisoners Foundation, Walid Al-Sahlani, who ordered the formation of a special committee composed of Fayli Kurds to review the requests submitted by members of the Fayli community. The committee members themselves belong to this community, as they are fully aware of the injustices they endured under the former dictatorial regime. The committee will also re-examine previously rejected cases."
He further explained that, 'The committee was formed following a meeting with the head of the Political Prisoners Foundation, during which an official request was submitted on behalf of the Fayli Kurds to address the injustices suffered by this afflicted group."
For his part, the head of the Political Prisoners Foundation, Walid Al-Sahlani, affirmed the commitment to seriously reviewing the files of those affected and working to ensure justice in accordance with the laws and regulations in force at the Foundation. He noted that," "This committee will serve as an important milestone in shedding light on the crimes and violations suffered by the Fayli Kurds during the Baathist regime, including genocide, forced displacement, the stripping of Iraqi citizenship, and the confiscation of their properties without legal justification."
