Police have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in a recent cash van robbery in the Korangi Industrial Area, recovering Rs3.47 million in stolen cash along with weapons and other stolen items. The brazen robbery took place last Thursday near Godam Chowrangi during the transfer of cash from a private bank, when armed robbers looted Rs9.7 million and fled after injuring two security guards. SSP Korangi Tariq Nawaz told a presser on Saturday that the arrested suspects have been identified as Ali Bakhsh and Parvez. Police recovered from their possession Rs3.478 million in cash, a snatched Suzuki Alto, a 9mm pistol taken from a security supervisor named Ismatullah, another 9mm pistol, a .30 bore pistol, and 12 snatched mobile phones. SSP Nawaz said that a manhunt has been ongoing for three more suspects: Deedar Ali Jagirani, Shaukat Ali, and Qari, who allegedly leaked the information regarding the cash transfer. Following the heist, a special team was formed on the directives of DIG District East. The team was led by DSP Landhi and comprised SHO PS Korangi Industrial Area, SHO PS Korangi, and SHO PS Zaman Town. Through CCTV footage analysis and other technical means, two suspects were taken into custody within 24 hours of the incident. The gang reportedly has members from Karachi, rural Sindh, and Balochistan. The robbery occurred around 12.30pm on Thursday, when armed men targeted the cash van near Godam Chowrangi.
