This category is among the most distinguished of the SGCA, redefining modern communication in line with contemporary technological advances and innovative methods. Applications for this year's edition remain open until July 24, with the 2025 award ceremony set for September. Evaluation aspects include message originality and clarity, relevance to soft power tools, global reach, ability to shift stereotypes or reinforce human values, audience engagement, and innovation in delivery—especially in terms of achieving a lasting impact. Notably, last year's winner in the 'Best Investment in Soft Power' category was COP28, hosted by the UAE. The 'Soft Power' category aims to redefine communication by embracing the latest technological advances and creative methods. The award is currently accepting nominations until July 24, 2025. It features 23 categories across five main sectors: Government and international organisations, private sector, individual awards, partner awards, and jury awards. Those interested in participating in the 2025 edition, with winners set to be honoured this September. His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, noted that the award highlights the UAE's and Sharjah's efforts to establish an international presence. 'Incorporating soft power into communication helps build global partnerships, attract investment, and encourage cultural and scientific exchange, all of which contribute to long-term social and economic stability,' Allay emphasised. The SGCA promotes the use of tools such as music, film, arts, drama, and sports as effective mediums for public communication. These forms of expression play an important role in overcoming language and cultural barriers, raising public awareness, reinforcing national identity, and promoting shared human values. This year's judging panel, made up of communication and media experts, will evaluate entries in the 'Best Investment in Soft Power to Support Communication Programs' category based on objective criteria. Evaluation will include the originality and clarity of the message, its alignment with a soft power medium, and its global reach. Judges will also assess the message's ability to challenge stereotypes or convey universal human values, along with measuring public engagement. Special emphasis is placed on innovation in communicating the message and its potential to make a lasting impact. Last year, the 'Soft Power' category was awarded to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), hosted by the UAE. The event earned recognition for its use of creative communication and cultural diplomacy to raise awareness about climate change, while showcasing opportunities for sustainable investment. The event, held in Aljada, saw a strong turnout of senior officials, media professionals, and the public, including His Exellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, Her Excellency Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB, Marwa Al Aqroubi, Executive Director of the House of Wisdom, and Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of SPC. The main session featured eminent Egyptian Islamic scholar Mostafa Hosny, who led a discussion on 'Family and Raising Future Generations.' The conversation, moderated by media professional Abdulraouf Amira, emphasised the role of positive family values and right upbringing in shaping both personal and societal development. Stressing how critical role the family unit plays in building future generations, Hosny argued that the foundation of good parenting lies in values like respect, security, and mutual responsibility. Right upbringing, he noted, does not merely need rules but also requires good role models and examples. The session also addressed the significance of creating a supportive environment for children, highlighting how they form their beliefs based on what they see in their parents. Hosny urged parents to actively listen to their children and establish a safe space for open communication, helping them develop balanced values and a strong sense of identity. In his discussion on effective parenting, Hosny outlined the four key aspects of a child's upbringing, which include their beliefs in themselves, their family, their values (with an emphasis on religion), and their connection to their country. The speaker also underlined the value of choosing the right social circle, as it plays a major part in shaping a child's character. Another key point of the session was the importance of tolerance in human relationships. Hosny called individuals to begin with self-improvement and personal responsibility, creating an environment based on empathy, fairness, and respect for one another. ​ ​ Organic Farming and Youth Vision The Majlis also hosted a special side session on 'A Youth's Perspective on Organic Farming,' featuring Saeed Al Rumaithi, the youngest founder of an organic farm in the UAE. The talk revolved around the significance of organic farming and its impact on public health and society, as well as the use of natural fertilisers and materials in agricultural production. Al Rumaithi shared his experience, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities youth face in the agricultural sector, and how sustainable farming can be developed further in the country. Notable speakers addressed key topics This year's Majlis featured distinguished speakers, including Dr Ahmed Amara, a mental health consultant, who discussed healthy relationships, and poet and writer Hamoud Al Sahoud, who spoke about culture and heritage in Arabic literature. Dr Khaled Al Ghattas, a content creator focused on human behaviour, explored values and beliefs, while preacher Mustafa Hosni addressed family dynamics, generational formation, and the foundations of proper upbringing and education. Expanding the scope of future sessions The Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau further noted that the council was not limited to the main sessions but also included side sessions that enriched community discussion. He emphasised that future editions of the Ramadan Majlis will see an expansion in topics, particularly focusing on youth, children, and family issues, strengthening the council's role as a platform for meaningful community dialogue.

The first session of the 14th edition of the annual Sharjah Ramadan Majlis, hosted by the Sharjah Press Club, operating under the umbrella of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, kicked off on Monday evening, in the Aljada area of Sharjah, in the presence of Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of the Sharjah Press Club, and several dignitaries, intellectuals and members of the public. The first main session of the 14th edition Ramadan Majlis titled 'Healthy Interactions and Relationships,' featured Dr. Ahmed Amara, a mental health consultant. The session, moderated by journalist Ahmed Al Yamahi, explored various aspects, principles, and standards of successful interactions that help build and strengthen human relationships based on kindness, empathy and understanding. The discussion emphasised the key and essential values that enhance a person's effective communication with others, in addition to self-management techniques for better personal and emotional wellbeing. Dr. Amara asserted, 'A key rule in relationships is recognising both strengths and weaknesses. Successful relationships should serve as a mirror, allowing individuals to understand themselves more clearly, enhance their strengths, and work on improving their weaknesses.' The session dealt in detail with the concepts of social and emotional intelligence and how to develop and apply them in daily life. The side session of the annual Ramadan Majlis, titled 'Between German and Japanese... How to Choose Your Car?', featured speakers from the ArabGT platform. The discussion highlighted the key factors to consider when comparing different types of cars, helping individuals choose a vehicle that suits their needs and financial budget. The session also provided insights into the key mechanical and technical features of major car brands, along with expert tips on extending a vehicle's lifespan. Moreover, the expert panel discussed the impact of modern technologies on the automotive industry and evaluated the pros and cons of recently introduced car brands in the market. Alongside the two main sessions, the Sharjah Press Club organised a range of exciting interactive activities and competitions, where attendees had the chance to win attractive prizes sponsored by Sharjah Cooperative Society. The 14th edition of the Ramadan Majlis will continue until March 17, addressing various topics related to culture and heritage, human behaviour, family and youth development, the role of social media, book discussions, business growth strategies, and sustainability. The sessions will also explore organic farming methods and the use of natural fertilizers in agriculture. The second session will take place on Wednesday, featuring poet and writer Hamoud Al Sahoud in a discussion titled 'Culture and Heritage in Arabic Literature,' moderated by journalist Ali Al Alyani. The session will be held after Taraweeh prayers in Aljada, Sharjah. Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, stressed that the Ramadan Majlis has become a vital platform for discussions that resonate with the community. 'This year's edition stands out for its diverse range of topics, providing attendees the opportunity to engage with subjects that best match their interests,' Allay noted. Beyond Ramadan, SPC continues to organise insightful sessions focused on specialised topics in journalism and media, as well as broader cultural and social themes. The third session, 'Human Behaviour: Values and Beliefs,' set for March 13, will explore the role of personal and societal values in shaping human interactions. Dr. Khalid Ghattas, a writer and social media content creator, will be the featured speaker, with TV host Reem Saif moderating the discussion. Social media's impact on reading habits will take centre stage on March 12 with 'When Digital Content Leads You to Books.' Content creator Fares Ashour will explore how online platforms are influencing readership trends. The spotlight will shift on March 13, to business and entrepreneurship. Adnan Safar, founder of the 'Mara' brand, will share insights on building a successful business, navigating brand growth challenges, and implementing key marketing strategies.
