Couple arrested in alleged dollar store robbery spree
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis couple was arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in a city-wide robbery spree spanning over the past several months.
The Memphis Police Department says they have been investigating several snatch-and-grab-style robberies and armed robberies, mainly targeting Walgreens, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar.
Tarus Johnson was identified by police as the suspect in the robberies, and his girlfriend, Charecia Alexander was determined to be an accomplice.
According to the MPD, warrants were issued in several cases charging Johnson with theft of property $1,000 or less and aggravated burglary.
On Thursday, MPD's Safe Streets Task Force found the suspect vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Cruz which had been reported stolen in February, at the Rodeway Inn on Linden Avenue. Johnson and Alexander were then taken into custody.

Tarus Johnson, 38, was charged with Robbery and Theft of Automobile $2,500-$10,000. Johnson also had warrants for Aggravated Robbery, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Theft of Property $1,000 or Less, and Aggravated Burglary.
Charecia Alexander, 35, was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Intentionally Evading Arrest in an Automobile, Robbery, and Theft of Automobile $2,500-$10,000.
Their bonds have not yet been set.
