Cornell University Tata Scholarship for Indian students; know eligibility & more

The Cornell University Tata Scholarship, a joint initiative between Cornell University and the Tata Education and Development Trust, aims to support Indian applicants at the University. This scholarship was established in 2008 by Ratan Tata. The scholarship is funded by a $25 million endowment from the Tata Education and Development Trust, where every year, 20 students are shortlisted and are awarded this scholarship. To be eligible for the Tata Scholarship, prospective applicants must fulfil a few key requirements: –Applicants must hold Indian citizenship with a valid passport; individuals with dual citizenship or non-Indian nationality are not eligible. Preference will be given to students who have completed their secondary education within India. –Candidates are required to apply for full-time undergraduate admission at Cornell University's Ithaca campus. This includes first-year applicants, direct transfers, and visiting undergraduates. –While Cornell University has a test-optional policy through 2025, strong SAT or ACT scores are still recommended. Additionally, international students from India must achieve an IELTS score of 7.5 or higher to be considered for both undergraduate admission to Cornell and this scholarship. Step 1: Prospective first-year students seeking a full-time undergraduate programme at Cornell University should begin by submitting their application. For those requiring financial assistance, the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile must be completed. Step 2: Subsequently, you must furnish all required financial documentation to substantiate your need. This typically includes family income statements, tax returns, employer letters, and bank statements, as detailed in the CSS Profile. Additionally, academic records, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement are usually part of the overall application. Cornell's admissions process involves a comprehensive evaluation by faculty and admissions officers, who assess your academic achievements, essays, recommendations, and extracurricular engagements. The Cornell Financial Aid Office, meanwhile, conducts a thorough review of your CSS Profile, International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA), and all supporting financial documents to determine your financial aid package. –College of Architecture, Art, and Planning –College of Engineering –Applied Economics and Management major in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business –Majors across colleges in the biological sciences, physical sciences, and other sciences, as well as the social sciences The scholarship covers the recipient's tuition and fees, reducing the financial burden along with the mandatory fees, room and board, books/supplies, and personal expenses up to Cornell's published cost of attendance.
