Taylor County Commission approves purchase of new police K9
GRAFTON, (WBOY) — Last week, The Taylor County Commission approved the purchase of a new K9 unit, which it hopes to receive by the summer. 12 News spoke with Taylor County officials on Monday to hear about how this will help the community.
'A K9 will help with narcotic detection, missing person location, evidence searches, demonstrations, criminal apprehension. I mean there's a lot of benefits with the purchase of the K9,' Taylor County Commission President Orville Wright said.

This new K9 will be a replacement for the current K9 that the Sheriff's Office uses. The cost of the K9 is $40,368, but the commission has only been approved for a $6,250 grant. To offset part of the remaining cost, the commission is applying to two other groups, which would bring the cost down to around $23,000.
