Warrants issued in relation fight after local high school graduation

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Multiple arrest warrants were issued in connection to a fight that occurred after the Woodrow Wilson High School graduation. According to a press release from the Beckley Police Department, the fight occurred on Saturday, May 31, 2025 after the Woodrow Wilson High School graduation at the Beckley-Raleigh Convention Center. Richlands Police Department investigates reported hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian The press release stated that it was discovered that the fight was allegedly caused by ongoing tensions between multiple people involved in the incident. The Beckley Police Department stated that during the fight, a gun was taken from one of the people involved, although the gun was reportedly never shown at the time of the fight. According to the Beckley Police Department, regardless of the event location, possessing a gun at a school sponsored event is illegal. The press release stated that as of Thursday, June 5, 2025, misdemeanor warrants were issued for: 19-year-old Jalen Marquis Cook: Charged with Possession of a deadly weapon on premises of a school-sponsored function 21-year-old Tayvon Anthony Morris: Charged with Battery 18-year-old Stephon Tyreese Yancy: Charged with Battery 18-year-old -year-old Tommy Lee Payton III: Charged with Battery 21-year-old Tytus Ira Mason: Charged with Battery 21-year-old Ty'Lai Khalis Kimble: Charged with Battery 18-year-old Zachary Lee Pennington: Charged with Battery 18-year-old Brandon Jerrell Burks Jr.: Charged with Battery 19-year-old Latrael Decors Hairston: Charged with Battery 18-year-old Madix Caiden Preast: Charged with Battery Nurse charged in Raleigh County after a child was taken to a hospital with a broken femur According to the Beckley Police Department, all people involved are believed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. In the press release, the Beckley Police Department stated that the people on the list are advised to turn themselves in at the police department.
