The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 3 recap: How did Conrad react to Belly and Jeremiah's engagement news?

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 3 recap: It's summer, and what's summer without a new episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty? Episode 3 of the series, based on Jenny Han's beloved books, premiered today (July 23) on Prime Video, following last week's shocking twist on July 16—when Jeremiah and Belly got engaged. Whether you're Team Jelly or Team Bonrad, the proposal caught everyone off guard. And if you've been waiting to see how the families react to the news… buckle up. What's The Summer I Turned Pretty about? The Summer I Turned Pretty is a coming-of-age romance drama based on Jenny Han's bestselling trilogy. Set against the sun-soaked backdrop of Cousins Beach, the series follows Isabel 'Belly' Conklin as she navigates growing up, first love, and the emotional complications of a love triangle with two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher. The show stars Lola Tung as Belly, Christopher Briney as the introspective Conrad, and Gavin Casalegno as the ever-charming Jeremiah. Rounding out the cast are Sean Kaufman as Belly's protective brother Steven, Rain Spencer as her best friend Taylor, and Jackie Chung as their mother, Laurel. Season 1 premiered on June 17, 2022, with all episodes dropping at once on Prime Video. Season 2 followed with a weekly release format starting on July 14, 2023, and wrapped up by August 18. The third season will be the final in the series, as Belly is anticipated to make her final choice. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 3 Recap: Belly and Jeremiah break the engagement news to their family After Belly said yes to Jeremiah's rushed proposal right outside the hospital where Steven was admitted in the last scene of episode 2, we see them kissing at Jeremiah's dorm at the beginning of episode 3. Basking in this new development of life, it felt like Belly had forgotten that Jeremiah "cheated" on her with Lacie. She believes Steven's accident put things into perspective for her, and that's what she tells her best friend Taylor when she informs her about the engagement. Even though there's been debate about Taylor's reaction to the Jeremiah-Belly breakup, as she was the one who asked Belly not to throw her life with Jeremiah away for the one mistake he made, she freaked out at the engagement news. When Belly tells her it was she who asked her to forgive him, Taylor says she asked them to talk things out, not get married. This definitely causes friction between them, but Belly has bigger things to look forward to as she wraps up her junior year and prepares to leave her dorm. On her way home, she feels giddy about her engagement and finds it difficult to hide her excitement from her dad. She just wants to be his little girl again. She makes up with Taylor after she reaches home, as Taylor tries to mend things with Steven after her mom, Lucinda, reminds her that part of the reason for Steven's accident was her. While Taylor's initial reaction to the engagement was angry, she eventually comes around. During a do-over scene of Belly telling her about the proposal, Taylor expresses genuine happiness and tells her they are in it together, ride or die or get married. Meanwhile, Laurel clearly draws a line with John and tells him their intimacy at the hotel was just a one-time thing. This prompts John to pull away from Susannah's memorial. Laurel, Steven, and Belly leave for Cousins without John, even though Belly would have loved for her father to be there when she tells the whole family she's getting married to Jeremiah. At Cousins, Jeremiah gives a beautiful speech and thanks everyone for honouring his late mother. He shares how much the park they've built in her memory would have meant to her. Belly tells Jere how proud she is to be his fiancée, but that's when the tone shifts. She sees Conrad. As their eyes meet, her world crumbles. Jere catches Conrad too and tells him how proud he was of his little speech. Conrad wasn't supposed to be there, as he had his summer job, but he lost that job. Now, after a little push from Agnes, who convinced him with a bit of exposure therapy, he's back in Cousins, no longer hiding from Belly. Following the event, during their car ride to the restaurant, Belly and Jeremiah decide not to tell their parents just yet. Jeremiah feels his father may not be supportive, and they agree to tell Conrad first. Belly says she would love her dad to be there too. When they reach the restaurant for the family dinner, it's clear that Laurel and Adam, along with Jere and Conrad's father, are not exactly in sync. Still, they show up to honour Susannah. After a small toast, Adam begins boasting about Conrad's achievements while Laurel praises Steven, who had just gone through a life-changing event. Meanwhile, Jeremiah, who is repeating senior year, is sidelined. Belly gets agitated and says Jeremiah also has big things planned for his future. She adds that in fact, they both do—and announces that they are getting married this August and are engaged. This freaks Adam out. He immediately assumes she's pregnant. When Laurel asks her if she is, Belly says no. She makes it clear that this isn't about that. She's doing this because Jere is her family, and she loves him. Laurel suggests that if they want to take the next step, they could try moving in together or fostering a cat, not getting married. Steven, too, is freaking out and asks Conrad, 'Did you know this?' Conrad, who has been broken ever since Belly made the announcement and has been looking at her with eyes full of emotion, says a soft, broken 'no.' And that 'no' carries more weight than anything else he could have said. After this, Jeremiah and Belly storm out of the lunchroom and try to reassure each other that it's going to be fine. Laurel then forces Belly to go back home with her and not stay at Cousins. In the ending scene, we see that while everyone has left, Conrad is still at the restaurant, processing the news as everyone else leaves — a subtle reminder that he's never truly let go of Belly. So, will there be no summer in Cousins this year? Well, we'll have to wait and find out. When does the next episode come out? The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 releases new episodes every Wednesday at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET. So Episode 4 will drop on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 is finally here. What fans are saying so far — from 'Bonrad' shippers to 'Jelly' apologists

It's a sound and image that fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty know too well: That gentle, melodic theme over sunlight glittering on water. Jenny Han's beloved coming-of-age series is back for its third and final season after a two-year hiatus that has tested even the most seasoned yearners. The season's first two episodes, which dropped at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, have already garnered a trove of opinions from diehard fans. Taking into consideration the fandom's deep investment in the show and its stars, both on and offscreen, The Summer I Turned Pretty's official Instagram and X accounts even issued a warning for fans ahead of the season premiere to 'keep the conversation kind this summer.' As with seasons past, the fandom is once again staunchly divided into 'Team Bonrad' and 'Team Jelly.' 'Bonrad' shippers, of course, believe Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) are endgame, while 'Jelly' fans are convinced that Belly and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) should come out on top. While they desperately await the release of Episode 3 — episodes will drop weekly at 3 a.m. ET every Wednesday, with the series finale debuting on Wednesday, Sept. 17 — fans have flocked to social media to share their initial reactions. From 'Bonrad' shippers to 'Jelly' apologists and everything in between, here's what fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty — commonly referred to as TSITP — are saying about the season so far. Spoilers ahead! Christmas at Cousins flashback While there were minimal scenes of them actually together, Belly and Conrad shippers were satisfied with the crumbs they were given in the first two episodes. Fans were especially delighted by a specific scene, a flashback, in which Belly and Conrad serendipitously find themselves alone, together, at the Cousins beach house over the holidays. Their time together is fleeting — Conrad guiltily bails after just one day because he is, after all, still madly in love with his brother's current girlfriend — but the yearning is still very much apparent. When Belly slips and falls, Conrad lifts her up and carries her to the sofa. The moment triggers a realization in Belly: 'A part of me will always love you.' 'POV: TSITP season 3 only dropped two episodes so far, but Conrad and Belly's chemistry is already unmatched,' read one fan video, while another fan wrote, 'At least Conrad girlies had one win in the first two episodes.' 'P.S. I Still Love You' Easter egg In a move that one fan called 'the most brilliant thing jenny han has ever done,' members of The Summer I Turned Pretty fandom were quick to notice an expertly planted Easter egg during the 'Bonrad' Christmas flashback. Before abruptly leaving Belly and the Cousins beach house, Conrad leaves her a sticky note on his partially finished crossword. Belly glimpses a crossword clue, which reads, 'Novel by author Jenny Han, 'P.S. I ____ Love You.' She fills in the blanks with the word 'Still,' which Conrad appears to have also written but erased. Both a nod to Han's 2015 novel P.S. I Still Love You, the second installment in the To All The Boys I've Loved Before movie trilogy, and an acknowledgment of Belly still being in love with Conrad, fans clocked — and then swooned over — the very intentional moment. Jeremiah's confession In the final minutes of the first episode, viewers who haven't read the books were surprised to learn that Jeremiah cheated on Belly with Lacie Barone (Lily Donoghue) while vacationing in Cabo for spring break. Belly overhears Lacie speaking of their hookup at a party, which prompts her heartwrenching confrontation with Jeremiah, who admits to sleeping with her and hiding it. Jeremiah says he assumed he and Belly had legitimately broken up at the time of his alleged offense, though Belly asserts that they hadn't actually called it quits. ('You knew that we weren't really broken up, that that wasn't real,' she tearfully tells him.) Jeremiah later admits to being intimate with Lacie not once, but twice. Belly, however, ends up forgiving him, and the two of them get engaged at the end of Episode 2. The anti-Jeremiah camp was strongly assembled by this point, with many dumbfounded by his inability to take responsibility for his actions, and Belly's seemingly ill-advised decision to pick 'the guy that CHEATED on her' over 'the man that she will still forever love.' But some fans are still fiercely defending Casalegno's on-screen character, writing on TikTok, 'I can't with Belly 😭They break up! … Letting yall know he did NOT cheat.' Music cues for the pop girlies The Summer I Turned Pretty has been known to punctuate its most emotional moments with tracks by some of music's most beloved pop girlies, like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. Tracks by both Swift and Rodrigo have already played over poignant moments in the first two episodes of the season, from Swift's 'You're Losing Me' soundtracking Belly and Jeremiah's devastating confrontation to Rodrigo's 'Lacy' being heard as Belly deals with the aftermath of their breakup. Ariana Grande's breakup ballad 'i wish i hated you' also plays during the second episode. 'I just got whiplash because you're losing me and lacy being played BACK TO BACK,' one fan wrote on TikTok, while another commented, 'I was stopped in my tracks omg.' Solve the daily Crossword
