Wrexham and Mold cyclists have become Welsh title winners
There have been some more stunning results from riders from the top Midlands-based cycling team Team MI Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire. July saw a number of championship successes across various cycling disciplines and across the ages. It was Mold-based Layla Bradbrook and Nick Whitley, who comes from Wrexham, who both won Welsh national championship titles at the Welsh cross-country mountain bike championships. On a baking hot day at the Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare, it was Bradbrook, one of the team's youngest riders, that won the women's elite race. Whitley, not to be outdone, went on to win the Veteran 50+ title. Whitley's national championship victory came after his wife Lynsey recently won the Welsh 40+ age category national circuit racing championships in Aberystwyth.

It's been a wheel-y great time for Mold cyclist Holly
Riders from the top Midlands-based cycling team, Team MI Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire, have continued to produce some quality results in early season mountain bike and time trial races. The first round of the Welsh Enduro mountain bike series was held at the popular location of the Llandegla Forest. Enduro racing is a mix of technical, timed downhill stages mixed with transfer stages. The total times across all the downhill stages determines the winner. Bradbrook (pictured above) was the ninth fastest female on the day, but she took an excellent first place in the senior female category. A couple of weeks later was marked by round two of the British mountain bike cross country championships. The Bradbrook sisters - Layla and Holly - were once again in action on the Margam Park course, near Port Talbot. Younger sister Layla, racing in the female Elite category, finished in 15th place. This year is the first one for Layla competing as an elite category rider, racing against the best riders from across the UK. Older sister Holly, racing in the sport/expert category, finished in an excellent fifth place in her race. After two rounds of the championships, Layla is currently in 11th place overall in the elite category and Holly is fourth in the sport/expert category. Also competing in Margam Park were team riders Nick Whitley, Nick Popham and Phil Roach. In the Masters 50 category, Wrexham-based Whitley finished in eighth place, while Popham was 33rd. In the Masters 60 race, Phil Roach finished in 13th place. After two rounds of the Masters 50 races, Whitley is currently in seventh place and the next round of the championships will take place in the Glentrees Forest, Scotland.
