Brooks, Conyers to represent Texas Tech at East-West Shrine Bowl

ARLINGTON, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Texas Tech all-time leading rusher Tahj Brooks and tight end Jalin Conyers are set to represent the Red Raiders at the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl in Arlington this week. The pair was two of 153 college players invited to participate in the game. Both Conyers and Brooks will be on Team West. Ahead of Thursday's game, the players took part in Shriner's Children's Day where they played football with and signed memorabilia for patients at Shriner's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. 'Just putting a smile on a kid's face and give them autographs, just doing the little things with them with their parents smiling, it's just fun and I can't be more honored and just a blessing to be doing this,' Brooks said. Conyers and Brooks are the lone Red Raiders on the roster in the senior showcase. Conyers hauled in 25 catches for 271 yards and five touchdowns, along with one passing and one rushing touchdown this season for Texas Tech. Brooks finished his five-year career with the Red Raiders as the program's all-time leading rusher (4,369 yards) after a 1,317-yard, 14-touchdown season. 'We did well enough to get an invite here and that was a blessing,' Conyers said. 'Now me and [Brooks] are coming out and competing against some of the best guys in the country to show what we got and represent Texas Tech. Excited to go out there tomorrow with him one last time.' The 100th East-West Shrine Bowl kicks off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30 at AT&T Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on the NFL Network. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
