Emergency services attend crash as car flipped on roof
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash this afternoon, Saturday, August 16, which left a car on its roof. The incident happened at around 3pm on Walshaw Road in Bury and a man was taken to hospital. Pictures from the scene show a black car on its roof with fire crews and ambulances surrounding it. One fire engine was dispatched from Bury Central, along with the Technical Response Unit (TRU) from nearby Ashton. It is believed that the road was closed off for some time. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: 'Just after 3pm this afternoon (Saturday, August 16), one fire engine from Bury Central, along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton, were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Walshaw Road, Bury. 'Crews arrived quickly at the scene where one vehicle was on its roof. "Firefighters used specialist equipment to make the vehicle and area safe. "A man was taken to hospital by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service. Firefighters were in attendance for around fifty minutes.' Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) have been contacted for more information.

Police tape off busy Northern Quarter street after woman spotted on roof of building
Police cordoned off a road in the Northern Quarter after a woman was spotted on the roof of a building. The junction of Tib Street and Thomas Street were closed at about 9pm tonight (Sunday) as police and firefighters tried to bring the woman down from the rooftop. After about 40 minutes she was brought to safety. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Just before 9pm this evening two fire engines from Manchester Central fire station, along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton, were called to reports of a woman on the roof of a building on Tib Street, Manchester. Firefighters worked with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to guide the woman on the roof to safety. Firefighters were in attendance for around 40 minutes."
