Wanderers run the rule over experienced former Wigan Athletic keeper

Jamie Jones was playing for Salford in League Two last season (Image: PA) WANDERERS have taken a look at ex-Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Jamie Jones on trial. The 36-year-old Kirby-born stopper was at Salford City last season and has reportedly been offered another deal by the League Two club. Advertisement Jones played the second half of Saturday's behind-closed-doors game against Tranmere Rovers and could yet feature down the line in Bolton's pre-season. But he has not travelled with Steven Schumacher and the squad to their training base in Marbella. Jones has played more than 400 career games in the Championship, League One and League Two and helped Wigan to promotion as champions in 2017/18. Wanderers released Nathan Baxter in the summer and have now sold Luke Southwood to Bristol Rovers, leaving on-loan keeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe and untested 22-year-old Luke Hutchinson as their only goalkeeping options. The team have now travelled out to Spain to begin a week-long warm weather camp designed to integrate their new signings and help Schumacher to bed down the style of football he wants to play this season. Advertisement Sharman-Lowe, Sam Dalby, Xavier Simons, Richard Taylor, Charlie Warren, Thierry Gale and Amario Cozier-Duberry are out with the squad and are hoping to feature in Friday's friendly against Orlando Pirates.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe joins Bolton

Teddy Sharman-Lowe has joined Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has also signed a new contract with Chelsea, keeping him at the club until 2028. The new deal follows an impressive loan spell at Doncaster Rovers, where he played every minute of their League Two title-winning campaign. Advertisement After helping Doncaster to promotion, Sharman-Lowe naturally attracted interest from clubs in League One and even some in the Championship. He is currently away on international duty with England Under-21s, as the Young Lions aim to defend their European Championship crown. Speaking to the club's media team, Sharman-Lowe said: "I'm very excited to be here. It's another great challenge for me. "Coming to a club as big as Bolton - with its past in the Premier League as well and aspirations to be back there – I think I can really kick on and it's another great opportunity for me."
