SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — With April over and May underway, life at Lake View High School continues. From reminders for seniors to comments on Texas Education Agency ratings and more, Teens of the Concho Valley provides insights into the latest at the school. San Angelo ISD is slated to conclude its 2024-2025 school semester in May, meaning that seniors will have plenty of things to do as they finish off their time as students at Lake View High School. Exams, prom, fee and equipment turn-in deadlines as well as other events await graduating students. The student news outlet also spoke with school officials to learn more about Lake View High School's 2023 TEA accountability rating that was released on April 24. The high school received an 'F' rating while SAISD as a whole received a 'D' rating, with the district citing a reporting error as a contributing factor for the scores. It stated that fellow students can help improve ratings by attending school, continuing to learn and completing CTE courses. Teens of the Concho Valley: Local students serve meals at Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health
Although some school activities are winding down, sports and clubs are staying busy at tournaments, banquets and serving those around the Concho Valley. Lake View's Spanish club helped set up and serve meals made with Central High School and TLCA students on Monday and Tuesday at the McNease Convention Center for the annual Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health presentation. The groups served over 600 guests during the luncheon, which provides funds for women affected by breast cancer. Students learned the importance of life skills, service and giving back to the community while they listened to guest speaker and former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino. Former White House press secretary spoke at LWBIWH Convention In the realm of sports, there is a two-day tennis tournament that teams are gearing up for in Abilene on Friday and Saturday. A banquet was held for Lake View basketball and powerlifting on Monday to help uplift their players and students.
