John Abraham unveiled the first poster of Tehran, releasing on OTT during Independence Week. The geopolitical thriller, directed by Arun Gopalan, stars Manushi Chhillar.
Tehran Movie Update: John Abraham has unveiled the first poster from his upcoming film after The Diplomat, while sporting a new avatar. With a bleeding forehead and a long beard, the actor was seen gazing into the horizon. The film's trailer is scheduled to release tomorrow.
John Abraham's Tehran has been in the making for a while now. The film was initially set for release in 2023; however, it appears that the film will finally see the light of day this year. On July 31, the makers of Tehran revealed that John's upcoming geopolitical action-thriller will premiere on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium during Independence Week. The film's trailer is slated to drop on August 1. Sharing the announcement, the team wrote, 'A blast in Delhi didn't just hit an embassy — it awakened a dormant fire. Tehran arrives this Independence Week, only on ZEE5. #TehranOnZEE5." Here is the first-look poster from the film:
Disha Patani's sister Khushboo Patani expressed her excitement in the comments. She wrote, 'Excited". Fans also posted, 'The beard, the blood, the eyes… ICONIC ALREADY", 'Woooooow John", 'Damn excited can't wait". Another section of fans expressed their disappointment at the film's OTT release instead of theatres. They commented, 'OTT Release", 'Action Abraham is Back", 'Kyun bhai . Aap toh kehte the ki Mai direct OTT release kabhi Nahi karunga", 'Why not releasing in theater", 'Why ott ???", 'Need it in big screen", 'Release in Cinema", 'This should be released in the theatres".
John Abraham recently spoke about Tehran. He told BollywoodLife, 'I have Tehran next, it is produced by Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films). I don't know when it's going to release but we are ready with the film. That has little more action and is hopefully gripping and I hope people take my word for it this time at least."
Opening up about Tehran, John Abraham recently shared that the film is for those who closely follow the Russia-Ukraine conflict and question the roles of countries like China, Iran, and Palestine in the current geopolitical landscape. Calling it a 'stunning" film, he hinted at the layered, global themes it explores.
Tehran is a high-stakes Hindi action-thriller headlined by John Abraham and Manushi Chhillar. Inspired by true events and set against the backdrop of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, the film delves into the shifting sands of international politics. It is directed by Arun Gopalan and backed by producers Dinesh Vijan, Sandeep Leyzell, and Shobhna Yadav, with a screenplay penned by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma.
Apart from Tehran, John is also working on Rohit Shetty's biopic on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. His upcoming slate includes the superhero flick Munkeeman, a possible Pathaan spin-off centered on Jim, and Garam Masala 2.
