Revanth unveils vision for ‘Brand Hyderabad'
1 2 Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday reaffirmed his govt's commitment to strengthen 'Brand Hyderabad' while unveiling that the ambitious vision document TelanganaRising–2047 will be released before Dec 9. "Our strength is Hyderabad, which is a brand on the world stage. The state govt has already organised several international events in the city and introduced our vision to the world. We have envisaged a master plan for the development of the entire Telangana — from the revival of the Musi river to the agricultural growth of rural Telangana. This document promises a happy life for the people of Hyderabad and Telangana with peace, tranquility, and a clean environment," he said in his Independence Day address from Golconda Fort. The CM said the TelanganaRising–2047 blueprint would showcase ideas, innovations, and implementation strategies for transformative projects that enhance Hyderabad's brand image and make it a clean, beautiful, and globally competitive city. A key highlight is the Musi rejuvenation project, which aims to provide a permanent solution to the city's flooding problem. In TelanganaRising–2047, we clearly explain how the Regional Ring Road will play a vital role in the state's growth," Revanth said. The plan includes major infrastructure and industrial initiatives — Gandhi Sarovar at Bapu Ghat, greenfield highways, dry ports, the second phase of the metro rail, radial roads between the Outer and Regional Ring Roads, ring railway lines, new airports at Warangal and Adilabad, and industrial corridors connecting Hyderabad to Nagpur, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada. "Our goal is to implement this resolution and make Telangana a key player in the country's progress by 2047," the CM asserted. Revanth also spotlighted Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Montoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) as a cornerstone of his clean, green, and flood-resilient city agenda. "Cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai are facing severe flooding. Hyderabad should never face such a plight. HYDRAA was created to curb tank encroachments and make Hyderabad a safe city to live in," he said. He recalled how previous govts had failed to act against encroachments on lands, ponds, and canals due to the absence of a credible system. HYDRAA, he said, had changed that perception. So far, HYDRAA has protected 13 parks and 20 lakes from encroachment, revived the Bathukamma Kunta water body, and safeguarded govt lands worth ₹30,000 crore. "People are praising HYDRAA, but opposition parties are using it as a political weapon. My appeal is for people to compare the past with the present — today, even after heavy rains, HYDRAA resolves traffic issues and diverts floodwater within an hour or two. It acts against illegal constructions and restores ponds," he said. He accused the opposition of deliberately portraying HYDRAA as a failed system. "Leaders who want our city to remain a water pool and for the poor to suffer during heavy rains are opposing HYDRAA. They are trying to create unrest among the poor by misleading them. People should protect this great system that protects Hyderabad," the CM added. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Revanth pitches Telangana as ‘game changer' in India's $30 trillion vision
Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday used his Independence Day address at Golconda Fort to project Telangana as a 'game changer' in the transformation of India into a $30 trillion economy, while making a strong appeal to the Centre to clear the pending 42% BC reservation bills and ordinance. "Telangana means business, and there will be protection for investments and profits too, creating jobs and development," he declared, vowing that the state would not rest until it was 'number one on the world stage' despite inheriting over ₹8 lakh crore in debt from the previous BRS regime. Unveiling his govt's long-term roadmap, Revanth announced that the 'Telangana Rising–2047' vision document would be released before Dec 9. It targets a $1 trillion state economy by 2035 and $3 trillion by 2047, alongside transforming Hyderabad into a global city to compete with New York, Tokyo, Singapore. He urged citizens to join the govt in 'repulsing conspiracies' and misconceptions by vested interests. Now, it is up to the central govt to approve them," he emphasised. Addressing water rights on the Krishna and Godavari rivers, the CM said his govt was working on a strategic plan to secure permanent rights and rectify "losses caused by the negligence of past rulers." He pledged completion of pending irrigation projects to benefit the last ayacut of Telangana. Listing welfare and development measures, he said: "Our govt has spent ₹1.13 lakh crore on farmers' welfare alone, ₹46,689 crore on women's welfare, and given 60,000 govt jobs to youth." Revanth also detailed the financial challenges inherited by the Congress govt — ₹8.21 lakh crore in total liabilities, including ₹6.71 lakh crore in debts, ₹40,154 crore in dues to employees and schemes, and ₹1.09 lakh crore in arrears for SC/ST sub-plans, Singareni, electricity, and other departments. "We have completed the debt service of ₹2.20 lakh crore — ₹1.32 lakh crore principal and ₹88,178 crore towards interest — since the Congress came into office," he claimed. Despite this burden, he said, "We are moving forward with the inspiration of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and the builder of a new India, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the support of the people. I strongly believe in a saying — Where there is a will, there is a way. We have a will… we have a vision. Telangana Rising–2047. This govt's mission is to make that vision a reality." Revanth framed his govt's approach as a 'two-pronged strategy' — competing with global cities on one side and delivering welfare to the poor on the other. "We have developed Telangana as a role model for the country within 20 months, writing a new history of transparency in governance, modernity in development, and welfare," he added. The ceremony concluded with the CM presenting awards to meritorious police officials and handing over a ₹1 crore cheque to singer Rahul Sipliganj, who gained global recognition with the Oscar-winning song 'Naatu Naatu' from RRR film. HYDRAA a great system to protect Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Terming HYDRAA a great system to protect Hyderabad by taking action against encroachments on water bodies and parks, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday accused the Opposition parties of trying to derive political mileage by showing the body in poor light. The Chief Minister stated that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) protected government lands worth Rs.30,000 crore and freed 13 park and 20 lakes from encroachments. Speaking at the main official function at historic Golconda Fort to mark the 79th Independence Day, Chief Minister Reddy remarked that leaders who want Hyderabad to remain water poor and struggle during heavy rains, were opposing HYDRAA. 'HYDRAA is doing wonderful service in resolving traffic problems and diverting flood water within an hour or two during heavy rains. It is also working effectively in taking action against illegal constructions and restoring ponds,' he said CM Reddy said HYDRAA was constituted to make Hyderabad a safe destination for living and to curb encroachment of water bodies. Stating that cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai are facing flood problems, he said Hyderabad should not witness such a plight. CM Reddy mentioned that 'TelanganaRising – 2047' vision document promises a permanent solution to Hyderabad's flooding problem with the Musi Rejuvenation Project. This vision unveils the determination to transform Hyderabad, which is being affected by floods, into a clean and beautiful city. The document also reveals how India's Future City, built to international standards, will be a gateway to the modern world, he said. 'TelanganaRising – 2047 is a plan to radically transform the image of Telangana with the construction of the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat, greenfield highways, dry ports, second phase Metro Rail, radial roads between the Outer and Regional Ring Roads, Warangal and Adilabad airports, Hyderabad-Nagpur, Hyderabad-Bengaluru, and Hyderabad-Vijayawada industrial corridors. Our goal is to implement this resolution and make Telangana a key player in the country's progress by 2047,' he said. The vision document aims to transform Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He stated that the previous BRS government left mounting debts and arrears of Rs 8,21,652 crore. "After the Congress government assumed power, we completed debt service of Rs 2,20,676 crore which included Rs 1,32,498 crore principal amount and Rs 88,178 crore interest amount till date,' he said. Terming Young India Skill University and Young India Sports University as his two eyes, CM Reddy predicted that these institutions will shape the future of Telangana. The government is determined to make Telangana the sports hub of the country. It unveiled a new sports policy with the aim of producing top sportsmen and winning gold medals in the next Olympics. The state government decided to establish 'Young India Physical Education and Sports University of Telangana (YIPESU)'. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the Korean National Sports University for the management of this varsity. CM Reddy said that the government is also setting up Young India Schools and a university for the development of education and skills. Young India Schools are being established in every constituency in 25 acres of land. He believes that these institutions will be game changers in the education sector of India. Already, 78 schools are being constructed at a cost of Rs 15,600 crore. 'My People's Government adapted a two-pronged approach. On one hand, the government set the goals to compete with global cities and on the other hand, we are delivering welfare benefits to fulfil the aspirations of the poor. Clarity in thinking and transparency in implementation are the hallmarks of our governance. We have chosen an inclusive development approach which involved everyone and created miracles. We have developed Telangana as a role model for the country within 20 months, writing a new history of transparency in governance, modernity in development, and welfare,' CM Reddy added.

CM Revanth reflects on achievements, plan to transform Telangana
Reiterating his government's commitment to ensure that Telangana plays a key role in the transformation of the country in the coming years, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said that it has decided to release a visionary document 'TelanganaRising – 2047' aimed at transforming the State into $1 trillion economy by 2035 and $3 trillion economy by 2047, the centenary year of Indian Independence. 'This is not just a plan. It is a resolve to make Telangana proud on the world stage,' the Chief Minister said during his address after hoisting the tricolour in Hyderabad on the Independence Day on Friday (August 15, 2025). As part of it, the State government envisaged a master plan for the development of the entire State from revival of Musi river to agriculture development in rural areas with a clear vision. Document to be released in December The document, to be released in December, would put forth ideas, innovations and implementation methods behind several projects that were crucial in enhancing the brand image of Hyderabad. It would unveil the determination to transform the State capital — which was being affected by floods — into a clean city and the vital role played by the 'highly ambitious' Regional Ring Road (RRR) in the development of the State. The Chief Minister said TelanganaRising-2047 was a plan to radically transform the image of Telangana with the construction of the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat, greenfield highways, dry ports, Hyderabad Metro Rail second phase, radial roads between Outer Ring Road (ORR) and RRR, and airports at Warangal and Adilabad among others. HYDRAA protected govt lands worth ₹30,000 crore In this context, he referred to the constitution of Hyderabad Disaster Response Force and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to curb encroachment of tanks and make the city safe. People in the previous government did not take a serious view of encroachment of lands, ponds and canals due to lack of credible system. HYDRAA had so far protected 13 parks and 20 lakes from encroachment besides protecting government lands worth ₹30,000 crore. He took a dig at the opposition parties for using HYDRAA as a weapon for political gains and requested people to compare the past with the present situation when the city received heavy rains. While Hyderabad was recognising the importance of HYDRAA services, the opposition parties were attempting to gain political advantages by showing the Agency in bad light which was unwarranted. 'The leaders who want our city to remain a water pool and the poor to struggle during heavy rains, are opposing HYDRAA,' he said accusing them of trying to create unrest among the poor by showing the Agency as a failed system. He elaborated on the government's initiatives in enhancing the quality and reach of education as well as sports infrastructure in the form of Young India Residential Schools and Young India Physical Education and Sports University, the latter to be managed by the Korean National Sports University. ₹39,575 crore on education These institutions, he said, would be game changers in education sector in the country. As many as 78 schools were being constructed with a cost of ₹15,600 crore and the government had spent ₹39,575 crore on education since the formation of the Congress government. 'We consider the expenditure incurred on education as an investment and not expense,' he said. He showered lavish praises on the police for playing a key role in the progress of the State by maintaining law and order. Telangana hosted many international conferences and was recognised as the most peaceful city because of its police system. 'According to India Justice Report – 2025, it is a matter of pride that Telangana police department is ranked first in policing among 18 States with population of more than one crore,' he said. New Osmania General Hospital at a cost of Rs. 2,700 cr The Chief Minister said that Osmania General Hospital is regarded as a temple for the poor in medical care since the past 100 years. 'We are restoring that medical temple which is in a dilapidated State,' he said. The government took up construction of new state of the art Osmania Hospital building complex on a sprawling 27 acres at a cost of ₹2,700 crore. Medical colleges were also being constructed in many places across the State. The government had spent ₹16,521 crore on medical and health sector since it same to power, he said.
