Komatireddy vows to make Nalgonda model district, promises boost to education sector
Hyderabad, July 15 (UNI) Telangana Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, today reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the united Nalgonda district into a leader in all sectors, particularly education.
In an emotional note, the minister said that despite receiving the love and support of the people of Nalgonda for over three decades, he feels he has done little in return and is determined to change that.
Addressing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat, Komatireddy focused on the development of Mahatma Gandhi University and the broader education infrastructure across Nalgonda. Senior officials from the education department participated in the meeting.
Calling for collective efforts to elevate Mahatma Gandhi University's reputation, he urged the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Governing Body members to work towards making it a prestigious institution. He highlighted the recent sanction of a special grant of Rs 60.22 crore for the university and inquired about the addition of new academic programmes.
Responding to VC Altaf Hussain's request to introduce Pharmacy, LLB, and LLM courses, the minister assured immediate action.
'With the support of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, we are committed to bringing transformative changes in the education system,' he said, adding that establishing University Colleges of Pharmacy and Law in Nalgonda has been his long-standing aspiration.
Discussions during the meeting also covered strengthening infrastructure in government degree colleges, junior colleges, and high schools across the united Nalgonda district. Komatireddy informed he would soon hold discussions with the Chief Minister regarding further development of educational institutions in the region.
Among those present at the meeting were Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Commissioner of Technical and Higher Education Council Devasena, Mahatma Gandhi University VC Altaf Hussain, Registrar Ravi, and other senior officials.
