High Court issues notices to CCLA
Justice K. Lakshman of Telangana High Court has passed an interim direction suspending the State government's classification of two parcels of land admeasuring nearly 25 acres at Sulthanpally village of Shamshabad mandal on Hyderabad outskirts as government lands.
The direction was issued after hearing a writ petition filed by A. Krishna Reddy and Thota Mounika Deepthi, both from Champapet, challenging the order passed by the Chief Commission of Land Administration declaring the two lands as government lands. The counsel for the petitioner informed the bench that his clients had furnished the latest passbooks and title deeds of the two lands which proved beyond all reasonable doubts that they were the land owners.
The counsel also argued that the CCLA had no powers to declare suo motu any lands as government lands under Section 166-B of Telangana State (Land Revenue ) Act-1317 Fasli. The judge issued notices to the authorities, instructing them to file counter affidavits by August 26.
