One Person Seriously Injured, Three Canines Die in Temple House Fire
TEMPLE (FOX 44) — Temple Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire in the 300 block of Hickory Road at approximately 4:23 p.m. on Thursday afternoon — where a resident suffered life-threatening injuries and three canine companions perished. Upon arrival at the single-story residence, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames engulfing both the front and back of the home. Crews acted swiftly, beginning to extinguish the blaze within three minutes of dispatch. Their rapid response enabled them to locate the resident and the three dogs inside a back bedroom and bring them out of the burning structure. The resident was immediately transported to a local emergency room for critical care. Sadly, despite the quick rescue efforts, the three canines did not survive their injuries. No other individuals were injured during the incident. Temple Fire and Rescue deployed significant resources, including 15 units and 29 personnel, to combat the fire. The Temple Police Department, Temple EMS, and Temple Animal Services also provided crucial support at the scene. The cause of this tragic fire is currently under active investigation by the Temple Fire Marshal's Office. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available. Former high school trainer gets 7 years in federal prison for child porn
WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – A Moody man who had worked as a high school athletic trainer has been sentenced to 84 months in prison in a Waco federal court for possession of visual depictions of sexual activities by minors. According to court documents, 57-year-old Trevor Swift was employed as an athletic trainer at Lake Belton High School in May 2022. During this time, students witnessed through his office window that he was viewing images depicting child sexual abuse material on his cell phone. The Department of Justice (DoJ) says students recorded Swift's activities and reported his conduct to administrators. Swift admitted to Temple Police Department investigators he had viewed sexually explicit images, but said they were of adult men and women. He was dismissed from campus and placed on administrative leave. Swift was arrested on May 26, 2022, and was convicted in a bench trial on July 31, 2024. Burglary suspect accused of wearing victim's clothes when detained The DoJ says this investigation included a seizure of an SD memory card from Swift's office at the high school, which revealed pornographic images depicting prepubescent and pubescent children — as young as five years of age or younger — engaged in sexual acts. Acting U.S. Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas made the announcement. The FBI and the Temple Police Department investigated the case. Man with multiple warrants taken into custody
TEMPLE, Texas (FOX 44) – A felony warrant was served for an individual with multiple warrants out of Temple. Police officers went to the 1500 block of Caddo around 2:23 p.m. Monday for a warrant service for 39-year-old William Corey Cook, of Belton, who has warrants out of Temple for Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Strangulation, and Aggravated Kidnapping. As officers arrived, Cook was outside the residence, saw the patrol units, and ran inside. It was previously reported that Cook had firearms in the residence. Officers set a perimeter, placed an Unmanned Aerial System in the air, and put SWAT on standby. Members of the Crisis Negotiation Team were able to make contact by phone and convince Cook to come out peacefully and surrender. Officers took him into custody without incident and transported him to the Bell County Jail. No injuries have been reported. Bell County Jail escapee caught
Bell County, Tx (Fox44) –UPDATE : The fugitive who escaped from the Bell County Jail Tuesday morning has been found and is now back in custody. The Bell County Sheriff's Office had reported that at approximately 7:45 am, an inmate at the Bell County Jail on South Loop 121 in Belton walked away from the facility. The inmate was identified as Arnold Bonilla, a Hispanic Male, 27 years old, 5' 7', 180 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a red baseball cap, an orange hoodie, and dark camouflage. Arnold Bonilla was arrested by the Temple Police Department on February 16, 2025, for Driving without a Driver's License. Upon his arrest, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on him. Arnold Bonilla was preparing to be released to the Federal Authorities. Arnold Bonilla does not have a criminal history involving violence. However, we are asking the public to remain vigilant. Deputies of the Bell County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from the Belton Police Department, Temple Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety—Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, and Texas Rangers, Constable Office Precinct Four and One, were assisting. Car Burglars Evade Arrest and Crash Stolen Vehicle
Temple, TX (FOX 44) – A report of car burglars led to a vehicle pursuit and the arrest of an 18-year-old man and the apprehension of a juvenile. At around 1:30 A.M. on Sunday, patrol deputies of the Bell County Sheriff's Office responded to assist the Temple Police Department with a report of car burglars near the 17100 block of N.E. H.K. Dodgen Loop near 50th Street. Upon arrival a white Kia Soul, which was reported stolen by Temple PD, was deemed the suspect vehicle and deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and evaded arrest leading to a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle crashed in the 5000 block of South 31st Street near Water's Dairy Road in Temple. The occupants exited the vehicle and fled from officers, evading arrest and an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass. Police managed to apprehend two males with the assistance of the K-9 unit. The 18-year-old driver, Jaedyn Sanders, was booked into the Bell County Jail for evading arrest in a motor vehicle and on foot, as well as the outstanding warrant for criminal trespassing.
