Check Out This Sweet Tea-Inspired Mint Julep Riff At This Louisville Bar

Donerail spirted-free cocktail at Moonsong. In Louisville, Kentucky, a city synonymous with bourbon and Southern hospitality, a new kind of Mint Julep has arrived—and it's just in time for the Kentucky Derby. At Moonsong, the restaurant and bar inside Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown NuLu, in Kentucky, guests are sipping on an innovative twist on the traditional Derby Day drink. Dubbed the 'Donerail,' this cocktail reimagines the iconic Mint Julep by blending it with another Southern staple: sweet tea. 'Since there is no 'Derby Day' without a Mint Julep, we wanted to provide our Tempo by Hilton properties with a few options when it came to the signature drink,' says Kevin Quinn, Director of Brand Food & Beverage Programs for Hilton. 'The name is an ode to the 1913 Kentucky Derby winner–the biggest longshot victory in Derby history–and we chose to honor this legend by crossing the Julep with a sweet tea, the beloved beverage in the American South.' The Donerail is available in both 'Spirited' and 'Free-Spirited' (non-alcoholic) versions, part of a larger program designed by Tempo by Hilton to ensure that every guest—drinker or not—enjoys a premium cocktail experience. 'For us, providing a unique bar program that enables guests to flex between spirited and free-spirited cocktails is one of the many ways we strategically built the Tempo brand to meet the needs of today's modern traveler,' he says. Kentucky Derby-inspired cocktails. The boozy Donerail features black tea-infused Maker's Mark bourbon, oleo saccharum, and fresh mint. The tea used is Bluestone Lane's Melbourne Brekky Tea, a full-bodied, organic Ceylon blend. 'This drink is a great example of our collaboration with Bluestone Lane,' says Quinn. 'It's a smooth, full-bodied and malty blend that pulls into the bourbon infusion perfectly.' But what really sets the Donerail apart is its spirit-free counterpart. Crafted using Lyre's American Malt, it's a zero-proof option that doesn't skimp on complexity or mouthfeel. 'We've found a very happy home partnering with Lyre's,' says Quinn 'We really could not find another alcohol-free alternative that would better enable us to mirror our 'Free-Spirited' drinks to their 'Spirited' counterparts.' (Original Caption) Churchill Downs, Kentucky: Roscoe Goose, 70, (L) describes his 1913 Derby win on ... More Donerail to Jimmy Winkfield, 79, who rode Derby winners in 1901 and 1092, finished third in 1900 and second in 1903. Goose's win paid the largest mutual in Derby history, $184.90. Winkfield, now a Paris trainer, finished in the money every time he rode in the Derby. To replicate the boldness of the tea-infused bourbon, the team simply brews the Melbourne Brekky Tea with more potency. 'We utilize the same tea but brewed with more strength than if you were to enjoy it on its own,' says Quinn. 'We do this to mimic the strong notes of black tea that is pulled through in the bourbon infusion.' Guests can find the Donerail at Moonsong in both the Louisville and Raleigh Tempo by Hilton properties, as well as at Highball in New York and Lovelorn Lounge in Nashville. It's part of a special Kentucky Derby menu running from April 21 through May 3, which includes three Julep options: the classic Mint Julep (with spirited and non-alcoholic versions), a Peach Julep, and the star of the show, the Donerail. Donerail spirited-free cocktail. And yes, it's served in a traditional julep cup. 'The Donerail, while not a traditional Mint Julep, should still be served in the traditional Julep, naturally,' says Quinn 'I am thrilled that the Donerail, as well as our other 'Free-Spirited' Mint Julep offerings, can fill a white space that currently exists for revelers that want to celebrate Kentucky Derby festivities without imbibing alcohol,' says Quinn. 'It is truly important to us that the 'Free-Spirited' selections mirror the 'Spirited' cocktails in every way – presentation, flavor profile, mouthfeel, and sophistication.'

Jake Paul announces he will fight Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. on June 28 in Anaheim

(Photo by Evan Agostini/Invision/AP) ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Jake Paul will take on former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. in the influencer-boxer's next bout on June 28 at Anaheim's Honda Center. Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) and Chávez (54-6-1, 34 KOs) will have a 10-round fight at a 200-pound catchweight limit, promoter Golden Boy announced Friday. Advertisement Paul has mostly fought fellow YouTubers and mixed martial artists since beginning his wildly lucrative boxing career five years ago. He fought 58-year-old Mike Tyson last November, winning by unanimous decision. Paul negotiated extensively for a bout against Mexican star Canelo Alvarez earlier this year, but Alvarez spurned the bout for a rich four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, the boxing promotional arm of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority. It's unclear whether Alvarez was serious about fighting Paul or simply leveraging the Internet star for a bigger payday. The 39-year-old Chávez has been somewhere in between a serious boxer and a showman for many years. He had a long, lucrative career of his own, but it was largely built on Mexican fans' unconditional love of his famous father. The younger Chávez was best known for lacking discipline and frequently missing weight, although he also managed to win the WBC middleweight title in 2011 and defend it three times before Sergio Martinez took it away in 2012. Advertisement Chávez has also resorted to fighting mixed martial artists in recent years, and he infamously lost to former UFC star Anderson Silva in 2021. Chávez has fought only twice since that defeat, and he narrowly beat former UFC fighter Uriah Hall in a six-round bout last year. ___ AP boxing:

Jake Paul Makes Massive $4 Million Offer For High-Profile Rematch

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 26: Jake Paul attends the premiere of "Paul American" at Tempo by Hilton ... More New York Times Square on March 26, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by Taylor Hill/FilmMagic) Jake Paul is looking for a fight. After his huge bout with Canelo Alvarez fell through last month, he has pivoted. Paul called out former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but that's not a fight he'd be able to have anytime soon, considering Joshua is likely already plugged into something in September. Paul took to social media on Thursday to call for a rematch with Tommy Fury, the only man who owns a win over him. Paul's offer–$4 million–is nothing to sneeze at and likely dwarfs what Fury was offered—and turned down—in his canceled fight with Darren Till earlier this year. Paul seemingly wants the rematch with Fury to take place in the United States, but he has a contingency offer in place for the younger brother of the legendary Tyson Fury. In their first fight, Fury won a split decision over Paul, with two of the judges scoring the fight 76-73 in his favor and one judge scoring it 75-74 for the YouTuber-turned-boxer. More fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury at the Diriyah Arena on February 26, 2023 in RIYADH, Saudi Arabia. (Photo by) While Paul may have run into some impediments in his pursuit of a major fight against legends like Canelo and Joshua, he still has a wealth of options for his next fight. Fighting Paul still equates to a major payday for anyone involved, and offers like the one he just publicly offered to Fury are proof. While Paul could fight Fury next, it won't stop his pursuit of a bout against a more established, unquestioned pillar of boxing. According to longtime journalist Dan Rafael, Paul had discussions about an exhibition match with lightweight champion Gervonta Davis before Tank battled Lamont Roach Jr. to a draw on March 1. Now, Davis and Roach are seemingly locked in for a pay-per-view rematch later this year. Another strong option for Paul could be a fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. While Chavez Jr. is no longer a world-class fighter, he does have considerable notoriety because of his lineage and his in-ring accomplishments, including a run as a legitimate world champion. A fight with someone like Fury or Chavez Jr. could wind up being Paul's requisite next step before he gets a chance to prove what he can do against the sport's most respected champions like Canelo, Joshua, and even Davis. Here is a look at the complete list of results for all of Paul's professional boxing matches.

McMahon makes room for Micron in his seventh State of the County address

NEDROW, N.Y. (WSYR) — With the company planning to break ground in November, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon intends to ask the legislature for $27 million to purchase more land to use for supply chain companies that support the semiconductor manufacturer. But that was not all McMahon wanted to improve upon during his seventh State of the County address. He said he also wants more hotels, including an $83 million project to bring Tempo by Hilton to the Inner Harbor. He also announced a new apartment effort in Liverpool by Onondaga Lake Park. Micron wasn't the centerpiece of the whole address. In the middle of his speech, the county executive talked about educational programs that prepare students in Central New York to pursue careers in the CHIPS industry. With only months to go before the start of the generational project, McMahon celebrated the plan and the 9,000 high-paying jobs it will create. 'That job number represents a staggering $972 million of new payroll in our community each year,' McMahon said. 'This doesn't even factor in construction, supply chain, and community growth jobs.' Before Micron breaks ground, McMahon emphasized the importance of education as a powerful workforce pipeline. 'Work is well underway at the STEAM school…first county-wide STEAM school in New York State…as it prepares to welcome its first class of students this fall,' he said. He also drew attention to the ERIE 21 initiative. 'Over the last several years, ERIE 21 has introduced middle school students to STEM-related fields,' he said. The program has branched out to Onondaga and LaFayette school districts to give students more opportunities to learn about robotics, engineering, and coding because those skills can be utilized in semiconductor manufacturing. 'We have the jobs now and we can gear curriculum in the schools to those jobs,' he said. 'Whereas before, what we were doing…we were teaching our kids very, very well and then we were sending them to other communities so that they could make those communities grow. Now, we're turning that around.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
