Three roads to close for roadworks in Monmouthshire

Monmouthshire County Council has announced the need for closures on parts of B4521 Ross Road, Croesonen Road, and Tredillon Road for essential resurfacing works. The order comes into operation on August 12 and will remain valid for 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever occurs first. The council anticipates that the work will be completed between August 12 and August 13. The road will be closed between 7.30am and 3.30pm. Sections of the roads will be temporarily closed to ensure the works can be carried out safely. Reasonable access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected lengths of road during the period of closure. The order affects approximately 300m of the B4521 Ross Road from its junction with Croesonen Road, about 20m of Croesonen Road from its junction with B4521 Ross Road, and around 65m of Tredillon Road from its junction with B4521 Ross Road. A signed diversionary route has been put in place. Diversion A follows A465, A40, B4521 Hereford Road and vice versa, while Diversion B includes B4521 Hereford Road, A40, A465, B4521 Ross Road, Box Road, Tredillon Road and vice versa. The council have said this is necessary to allow the resurfacing works to be carried out in a safe manner. It is also assured that reasonable access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected lengths of road during the period of closure. The council warns that any person who contravenes the restrictions or prohibitions imposed under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 will be guilty of an offence. The order may be cited as the B4521 Ross Road, Croesonen Road, and Tredillon Road, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025.

The closure will be in place from 8am until 5pm to allow MJ Quinn to carry out the works safely. The affected section runs approximately 0.97 metres from the junction with Monmouth Road, extending for about 185 metres. The council has confirmed that access will be maintained for properties along the closed section. A diversion route will be in place, directing traffic via Chepstow Road, Beaufort Square, High Street, Usk Road, Llandenny Road, the R71 overpass with the A449 to New House Farm, and the R71 Raglan to the A449. The order will remain in force for up to 18 months to cover any unforeseen delays, although the works are expected to be completed within the scheduled timeframe. The temporary traffic regulation order can be cited as the Chepstow Road, Raglan, Monmouthshire Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025.
