NFL Stadium Construction Paused After Troubling Discovery
The Tennessee Titans are building a new stadium that is set to open in less than two years, but construction on the site has been halted for now after a troubling find. According to the Metropolitan Police Department on Friday, via ESPN's Turron Davenport, a noose was found at the construction site this week. Construction of the new venue has been stopped and an investigation is now underway. It doesn't appear there are any suspects at this time. "This week, a racist and hateful symbol was discovered on our site. There is no place for hate or racism in our workplace," the Tennessee Builders Alliance said. "We reported the incident to law enforcement, suspended work, and launched an investigation." The Tennessee Builders Alliance said there is currently a reward being offered for any information that helps find who is responsible. It has vowed to offer more anti-bias training for its workers, also. Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell called the discovery "very concerning" and noted that the Titans are cooperating with local law enforcement in the investigation. The New Nissan Stadium, which has been under construction since 2024 and carries a price tag of about $2.1 billion, is expected to open in February 2027. Public funding is covering $1.26 billion of the aforementioned price tag for the 60,000-seat Stadium Construction Paused After Troubling Discovery first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 18, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

Work halted after noose found at site of new Tennessee football stadium
A noose was found at the construction site of the new football stadium for the NFL's Tennessee Titans in Nashville, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said, halting work in the area. 'The MNPD is aware and investigating this situation,' Metro Nashville Police spokesperson Brooke Reese said in an email Saturday. The Tennessee Builders Alliance, which is overseeing construction of the 60,000-seat stadium, said in a statement that it suspended work at the site after the discovery of the 'racist and hateful' symbol. 'We are outraged and deeply saddened by this act,' the group said in a statement. 'We are working in close partnership with our client, trade partners, and unions to ensure every worker understands that racism and hate have no place here. Everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and treated with respect and dignity.' The Tennessee Builders Alliance said its workers will be required to undergo additional antibias training. The group also said it launched a separate investigation into the incident and is offering a reward for information leading to the identification of the person responsible. The state broke ground on a new Nissan Stadium in February 2024. Construction is expected to finish in 2027, at which point it will replace the Titans' current home field, which is also called Nissan Stadium. The 1.8 million-square-foot facility is expected to cost $2.1 billion and has received $1.2 billion in public funding. Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell called the discovery of the noose 'very concerning.' 'I appreciate that the Titans brought this incident forward immediately. We've taken some steps both in local policy and state policy in partnership with them to try to prevent hate incidents like this,' he said in a statement. 'There is an open investigation, and I look forward to seeing what that investigation finds.'

Construction halted at new Tennessee Titans Stadium after noose found at site
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Construction on a new enclosed stadium for the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, Tennessee, has been halted after a noose was found at the construction site. Metro Nashville Police spokesperson Kristin Mumford said in an email on Friday that they are aware and investigating. The Tennessee Builders Alliance, a joint venture partnership on the stadium, said it suspended construction at the site after the 'racist and hateful' symbol was discovered this week. 'We are requiring additional antibias training for every person on site, and work will resume only after a site-wide stand-down focused on inclusion and respect,' a statement from the alliance reads. The alliance has launched an investigation and is offering a reward for information leading to the identification of those responsible. 'We are outraged and deeply saddened by this act,' the alliance's statement says. 'We are working in close partnership with our client, trade partners, and unions to ensure every worker understands that racism and hate have no place here. Everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and treated with respect and dignity.' Tennessee broke ground on the new stadium in February 2024 and expects construction to be complete by February 2027, providing more than enough time for the Titans to move next door from their current open-air stadium for the 2027 NFL season. The Titans report to fall camp at a practice facility in Nashville next Tuesday.

Police say noose found at construction site of NFL team's new stadium: report
Nashville Police said a noose was found at the construction site of the Tennessee Titans' new stadium, according to ESPN. The stadium is scheduled to open for the 2027 season, but work has reportedly been halted for an investigation. "This week, a racist and hateful symbol was discovered on our site. There is no place for hate or racism in our workplace," the Tennessee Builders Alliance, which is leading the construction, said in a statement. "We reported the incident to law enforcement, suspended work and launched an investigation." "Obviously, this is an environment where we want to try as hard as we can to prevent scenarios that might be fear- or hate-based," Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell said in a statement. "We've taken some steps, both with local policies, state policy and partnership with them to try, again, to keep temperatures low and prevent hate incidents like this. "It is very concerning. There is an open investigation. I know the Titans are cooperating with Metro Nashville Police, and we'll see what that investigation turns up." The stadium will seat 60,000 people and will cost an estimated $2 billion. More than half of that amount is public funding, the largest stadium subsidy in U.S. history. The Tennessee Builders Alliance also said a reward has been made available for "information leading to the identification of the individual responsible," and all workers will be required to take anti-bias training. The stadium will have a roof, unlike the current Nissan Stadium. Ground was broken for the stadium in February 2024, and the Tennessee State Tigers will also play there. "New Nissan Stadium" will also host the Music City Bowl annually. The venue is being built next to the current stadium, which will be demolished.
