Man fined for peeping in shopping complex toilet
KOTA KINABALU (Aug 15): A 22-year-old man was fined RM25, in default three days' jail, by a Magistrate's Court here for peeping at a woman in a toilet.
Terence Thien pleaded guilty before magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to a charge under Section 8(1)(e) of the Minor Offences Ordinance.
The offence was committed at a shopping complex toilet here on Aug 7.
The court heard that the 25-year-old victim noticed someone standing in front of the cubicle she was in. She saw the person's feet, and upon exiting, the individual fled from the female toilet.
The victim attempted to chase him but could not locate him. She reported the matter to a security guard, who reviewed CCTV footage of the incident.
Shortly after, the victim spotted Thien and called out to him to go to the CCTV control room. Police were contacted, and the footage confirmed he was the person peeping at her.
