Pacific-12 Conference Returns To ESPN, CBS For 2025 Football Season

The Pac-12 has announced a partnership with ESPN, CBS Sports and The CW Network to telecast all 13 home football games for Oregon State and Washington State in the 2025 season. The deal marks a return to the league of major players CBS and ESPN, which did not telecast a Pac-12 game last season, as the conference works to develop long-term relationships before the major expansion that will include many of the Mountain West programs in 2026-27. 'Having Pac-12 football featured across three leading broadcasters … will provide tremendous exposure to showcase Oregon State, Washington State and our brand in the Pac-12's final season before expansion,' Pac-12 commissioner Teresa Gould said in a statement. Terms of the deal were not announced as the Pac-12 continues to pursue a media deal for 2026-31 through media rights advisor Octagon, veteran Northwest journalist John Canzano reported. Octagon played a major role in the 2025 agreements. 'Putting dollars aside, I think this is a great outcome for OSU and WSU for the 2025 season,' Bob Thompson, the retired president of Fox Sports Networks, told Canzano. 'It appears to give them wide exposure for all of their games, which is paramount at this point. I would assume that the networks that signed up for 2025 have some sort of first rights on 2026 and beyond. It will be interesting to see what the structure of the new deal is.' Oregon State and Washington are the only remaining members of the conference that dissolved in 2024, but current Mountain West members Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State have agreed to join the Pac-12 in July, 2026. West Coast Conference basketball power Gonzaga also will join at that point, but because Gonzaga does not field a football team, the Pac-12 will need to add at least one more football-playing school to meet the NCAA's membership requirement for the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The CW Network telecast 11 Oregon State and Washington State games in 2024 and the FOX network broadcast two as the Pac-10 was forced to seek over-the-air alternatives following the defection of 10 schools. USC, UCLA Oregon and Washington began play in the Big Ten in 2024. Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah moved to the Big 12, and Stanford and California to the Atlantic Coast Conference. ESPN is scheduled to televise two Pac-12 games this season, Oregon State's season-opener against Cal on Aug. 30 and the Beavers' game against Big 12 foe Houston on Friday, Sept. 26., as part of its last-night lineup. Both games are to start 10:30 pm ET. 'Adding these games strengthens ESPN's industry-leading college football slate,' ESPN senior programing director Kurt Dargis said in a statement. 'They deliver meaningful exposure for Oregon State and align well with opportunistic time slots across our platforms.' After years of partnership, ESPN did not broadcast a Pac-12 game last season following the dissolution of the league. The sides had been in negotiations on a new contract before the breakup but nothing materialized as then-Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff appeared to overplay his hand by turning down ESPN's reported offer of $30 million per school per year in search of more. CBS and affiliated streaming service Paramount+ is to air two Pac-12 games in prime time, the annual Apple Cup matchup between Washington and Washington State on Sept. 20 and the Washington State-Oregon State games Nov. 1. Both are scheduled for 7:30 pm-8 pm ET starts. The CW Network's nine games, which will be produced by Pac-12 Enterprises, include a Sept. 6 doubleheader matching current and prospective league members. Oregon State will host Fresno State at 3:30 pm ET and Washington State will host San Diego State at 10:15 pm. The CW averaged 431,000 viewers for its 11 game last season, 460,000 in games involving FBS opponents. For comparison, ESPN drew 1.66 million viewers for the UCLA-Cal game on Nov. 25, 2023 and 740,000 for the Arizona-Arizona State game earlier that day.

Pac-12 secures TV deal with CBS, ESPN, The CW for 2025 college football season

Pac-12 secures TV deal with CBS, ESPN, The CW for 2025 college football season Show Caption Hide Caption The Pac-12 may have saved itself by adding Mountain West teams, but does it matter? USA TODAY Sports' Dan Wolken breaks down the news that a handful of Mountain West teams will join the Pac-12 and explains why not much is going to change. The Pac-12 has secured a media rights deal – at least for the upcoming college football season. The two-team conference announced on Tuesday that all 13 home games for Oregon State and Washington State during the 2025 season will air on one of three different networks, with nine games on The CW, two on CBS and two on ESPN. "Having Pac-12 football featured across three leading broadcasters in CBS, The CW and ESPN in 2025 will provide tremendous exposure to showcase Oregon State, Washington State and our brand in the Pac-12's final season before expansion," Pac-12 commissioner Teresa Gould said in a statement. "We are thrilled to continue our partnership with The CW, to welcome a new partner in CBS Sports and to see a return of Pac-12 football on ESPN." The financial terms of the contracts have not yet been revealed. After the 2025 football season, the Pac-12 will be expanding to include San Diego State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and Utah State, all of which will be coming from the Mountain West. A media rights deal for the reconfigured conference hasn't yet been secured, though Tuesday's announcement could offer an idea of what television networks could be involved in broadcasting games for the seven-team league. Beyond Oregon State and Washington State's two scheduled meetings, the Pac-12's 2025 media rights deal includes two games that will be conference matchups starting in 2026 – Oregon State's game against Fresno State and Washington State's game against San Diego State, both of which are on Sept. 6. Pac-12 lands CBS, ESPN and The CW to broadcast Oregon State and Wazzu's 2025 home games

The rebuilding Pac-12 Conference announced Friday that the 13 home games for Oregon State and Washington State in 2025 will be broadcast across a mix of three networks: CBS, ESPN and The CW. It's the next step in a multi-step process to reconstruct the league. Although the deal is only for 2025 and nothing further has been finalized, the announcement indicates advanced talks with the same networks for the larger TV rights package covering 2026 and beyond, when the Pac-12 will add five Mountain West schools and at least one more school yet to be determined. Commissioner Teresa Gould has previously said the conference was looking for long-term partners in its 2025 talks. Advertisement 'Having Pac-12 football featured across three leading broadcasters in CBS, The CW and ESPN in 2025 will provide tremendous exposure to showcase Oregon State, Washington State and our brand in the Pac-12's final season before expansion,' Gould said in a statement. 'We are thrilled to continue our partnership with The CW, to welcome a new partner in CBS Sports and to see a return of Pac-12 football on ESPN.' Two games in 2025 will be on the main CBS channel: Washington at Washington State on Sept. 20 and Oregon State vs. Washington State in Corvallis, Ore., on Nov. 1. Two games will be on the main ESPN channel: Cal at Oregon State on Aug. 30 and Houston at Oregon State on Friday, Sept. 26. The remaining nine games will air on The CW, which broadcast 11 Oregon State and Washington State games last season (Fox had the other two). The Oregon State-Washington State game drew the largest audience on The CW, which also airs ACC games. Both Oregon State and Washington State worked quickly to cobble together 2025 football schedules after deciding last summer not to renew the 2024 football scheduling agreement with the Mountain West. The agreement provided the schools a scheduling lifeline after the Pac-12's collapse in 2023 saw 10 members depart for other leagues. Washington State plays seven home games in 2025, while Oregon State plays six. The pair will play each other twice in November. It won't be the first double-dip in college football; some independent programs have played twice in the same season to fill out each other's schedules. The Pac-12 in 2026 is set to add Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State from the Mountain West, as well as Gonzaga from the West Coast Conference as a non-football school. The Pac-12 still must add at least one more football-playing full member to remain a Football Bowl Subdivision conference following the NCAA's two-year grace period below eight full members. Advertisement Its attempts last fall to woo American Athletic Conference schools Memphis, Tulane, USF and UTSA fell short. The Pac-12 could only pitch projections related to its TV deal, and the AAC has a deal with ESPN through the early 2030s with a large conference buyout. With advanced talks on the next TV contract, the Pac-12 will have more firm numbers to take to potential targets, which could also include Texas State, UNLV and others. Oregon State went 5-7 in its first season under head coach Trent Bray last fall but beat the Cougars. Washington State is entering its first season under head coach Jimmy Rogers, who came from South Dakota State to replace Jake Dickert, now the head coach at Wake Forest.
