Starbucks announces shock change to its rewards program — here's how to score free drinks

Starbucks announced a major change to its reward system. The coffee giant is making it a little harder to rack up Stars this summer, meaning it may take longer for rewards members to gain enough for a free drink. Starting June 24, the points received for using your own to-go reusable cup are changing, according to an email sent to rewards members. Starbucks is making a change to its rewards system. ManuPadilla – Instead of receiving 25 Bonus Stars for every order placed with your own cup, you'll now receive 'double Stars' for the entire order. 'If you bring in two reusable cups and order two handcrafted beverages in a single order, you will receive double Stars on the entire transaction,' the new Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use reads, per AllRecipes. While it might sound like more — and it might be for some customers — you now have to spend a minimum of $12.50 during your visit to get the 25 stars, as opposed to automatically getting them under the current system. Currently, everyone receives 25 stars regardless of how much they order or how many personal cups are used. The points received for using your own to-go reusable cup at Starbucks are changing. Andre Cisco brings important leadership qualities to Jets: ‘True team guy'

Like many native New Yorkers, Andre Cisco doesn't sugarcoat the truth. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn sees leadership qualities in the free agent acquisition Cisco, who made news last season when he called out his then-Jaguars teammates for quitting in a Week 6 loss to the Bears to drop to a 1-5 record. 'You watch how he operates with his teammates, you could tell that he's a true team guy,' Glenn said Wednesday. 'And I think that's only going to get better once we continue to coach him, and once he understands the dynamics of everything that we've got going on.' Cisco signed a one-year, $8.5 million contract with the team that he grew up rooting for while he was raised on Long Island. It's a shorter deal than most given to quality free agents his age, but the 25-year-old safety saw a perfect alignment of factors. 'Interest in coming back home, being part of something great with Aaron Glenn at the helm and his history of defense,' Cisco said. 'Being that this [Jets] defense has been great for the past few years, it was a no-brainer.' After collecting eight interceptions and three forced fumbles in Jacksonville, Cisco said he has made a 'seamless' transition back home. Glenn cited Cisco's ball production back to his Syracuse days as an asset. Jets safety Andre Cisco gestures during practice at OTAs on May 21, 2025. Bill Kostroun / New York Post 'For me, it's really not about leading with words, first of all. Just actions,' Cisco said. 'I think one of the things that happens with football and everything in general is just first-day enthusiasm, and then it kind of dies down after that. I try to emphasize being that kind of guy every day. So that's kind of what I lead with. 'In terms of calling guys out, that's not my style all the time. I try to be more one-on-one, but sometimes emotions run high. That's kind of what happened there.' It doesn't sound like the high-intensity Glenn will mind. Bill Kostroun / New York Post Edge rusher Will McDonald has gained 15 pounds, 'which is very good for him because it allows him to be able to set the edge a lot better,' Glenn said. The 6-foot-4 McDonald should be up to about 250 pounds now. His strength limitations minimized his snap count as a first-round rookie in 2022, but he broke out with 10.5 sacks last season because of his speed. That's his superpower,' Glenn said. 'But I think he understands, for him to be able to max everything out of his potential, he needs to get stronger, he needs to get bigger.' The Jets had 100 percent attendance at their first voluntary OTA practice, Glenn said. There were no notable absences Wednesday at their second. 'These men want to win,' Glenn said. 'These men want to work.' Josh Myers, who started 56 games at center for the Packers over the past four years, has impressed new teammate John Simpson. 'He's one of those guys you can just draw something up for him and he can figure it out,' the left guard said. 'Same goes for Tip [Joe Tippman]. Those guys are battling their a– off right now, just competing.'

Rallies held around Australia against sexual violence, anger that crisis not properly addressed during election

Tens of thousands of people have marched across Australian capital cities and regional towns calling for determined action to end gendered and sexual violence. Advocates say the crisis was not properly addressed during the federal election campaign, with funding pledges 'barely even hitting the sides'. The No More: National Rally Against Violence saw protesters gather in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart and in many regional centres. Founder of support organisation What Were You Wearing, Sarah Williams, called for more preventive action. 'We need to be able to stop it before it starts,' she told a two-thousand-strong crowd on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne on Saturday. 'We need more funding for primary prevention, more trauma-informed response training for police, increased crisis housing, bail law reform and uniform consent laws,' she later told AAP. Hundreds met in Sydney's Hyde Park while the regional centres of Newcastle and Wollongong saw a similar turnout, including the family and friends of Mackenzie Anderson, a young mother who was stabbed 78 times and brutally murdered by her former partner in 2022. Hundreds more rallied in Brisbane, carrying signs reading 'We weren't asking for it' and 'Weak laws cost lives.' In the lead-up to the rallies, organisers urged more men to attend and take accountability for violence against women. 'Men listen to men … we need more male role models out there,' Ms Williams said. Since 1 January last year, 128 women have been killed, according to the Australian Femicide Watch website. Its founder Sherele Moody read aloud the names of the women as images of their faces were laid before Melbourne's Parliament steps. skip past newsletter promotion Sign up to Breaking News Australia Get the most important news as it breaks Privacy Notice: Newsletters may contain info about charities, online ads, and content funded by outside parties. 'Violence against women is primarily a male problem … it's not a women's problem to solve but it's women who are the ones who do the work.' Advocates say a government-run national domestic violence register is desperately needed to track the issue. The rallies also called for fully funded frontline domestic violence services, expanded crisis accommodation and increased funding for primary prevention programs. Mandatory trauma-informed training for all first responders should also be rolled out, organisers said. The re-elected Labor government previously promised to prevent domestic violence perpetrators from abusing tax and superannuation systems. It has also pledged to invest more funding to stop high-risk perpetrators through electronic monitoring. But Moody said ministers and leaders needed to sit down with frontline services to figure out what works. 'All the safety nets have holes in them and the funding barely even hits the sides,' she said.

Trump Administration Will Pay Undocumented Migrants $1,000 To Leave U.S.

The federal government will offer immigrants living in the United States illegally $1,000 to leave the country, the Department of Homeland Security announced Monday, the latest effort by the Trump administration to accelerate deportations. Migrants who use the Customs and Border Protection Home App to notify the government of their departure will receive a $1,000 stipend after they've returned to their home country, DHS said. The stipend will be offered in addition to travel assistance and the promise of avoiding arrest. This is a developing story and will be updated. One Community. Many Voices. Judge Indefinitely Blocks Trump From Using Alien Enemies Act To Deport Venezuelans

A federal judge Thursday blocked the Trump administration from deporting Venezuelans using an 18th century law that has been used just three other times in U.S. history, issuing the first permanent injunction against the administration's use of the law. District Court Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. said in a filing the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 cannot be used against people the Trump administration alleges are gang members. Rodriguez's ruling, which argues the Trump administration is not using the law properly, is the first permanent injunction barring the deportations of Venezuelans from South Texas. The ruling differs from Washington, D.C., District Court Judge James Boasberg's temporary ruling against the deportations last month that was later overturned by the Supreme Court, which said Boasberg did not have authority to rule on the matter because the deportations took place in Texas, where Rodriguez is based.
