Andre Cisco brings important leadership qualities to Jets: ‘True team guy'
Like many native New Yorkers, Andre Cisco doesn't sugarcoat the truth.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn sees leadership qualities in the free agent acquisition Cisco, who made news last season when he called out his then-Jaguars teammates for quitting in a Week 6 loss to the Bears to drop to a 1-5 record.
'You watch how he operates with his teammates, you could tell that he's a true team guy,' Glenn said Wednesday. 'And I think that's only going to get better once we continue to coach him, and once he understands the dynamics of everything that we've got going on.'
Cisco signed a one-year, $8.5 million contract with the team that he grew up rooting for while he was raised on Long Island.
It's a shorter deal than most given to quality free agents his age, but the 25-year-old safety saw a perfect alignment of factors.
'Interest in coming back home, being part of something great with Aaron Glenn at the helm and his history of defense,' Cisco said. 'Being that this [Jets] defense has been great for the past few years, it was a no-brainer.'
After collecting eight interceptions and three forced fumbles in Jacksonville, Cisco said he has made a 'seamless' transition back home.
Glenn cited Cisco's ball production back to his Syracuse days as an asset.

'For me, it's really not about leading with words, first of all. Just actions,' Cisco said. 'I think one of the things that happens with football and everything in general is just first-day enthusiasm, and then it kind of dies down after that. I try to emphasize being that kind of guy every day. So that's kind of what I lead with.
'In terms of calling guys out, that's not my style all the time. I try to be more one-on-one, but sometimes emotions run high. That's kind of what happened there.'
It doesn't sound like the high-intensity Glenn will mind.

Edge rusher Will McDonald has gained 15 pounds, 'which is very good for him because it allows him to be able to set the edge a lot better,' Glenn said.
The 6-foot-4 McDonald should be up to about 250 pounds now.
His strength limitations minimized his snap count as a first-round rookie in 2022, but he broke out with 10.5 sacks last season because of his speed.

'We never want to take that away from him. That's his superpower,' Glenn said. 'But I think he understands, for him to be able to max everything out of his potential, he needs to get stronger, he needs to get bigger.'
The Jets had 100 percent attendance at their first voluntary OTA practice, Glenn said. There were no notable absences Wednesday at their second.
'These men want to win,' Glenn said. 'These men want to work.'
Josh Myers, who started 56 games at center for the Packers over the past four years, has impressed new teammate John Simpson.
'He's one of those guys you can just draw something up for him and he can figure it out,' the left guard said. 'Same goes for Tip [Joe Tippman]. Those guys are battling their a– off right now, just competing.'

Pacers vs. Thunder odds, predictions: NBA Finals Game 2 picks, best bets
New York Post may be compensated and/or receive an affiliate commission if you click or buy through our links. Featured pricing is subject to change. As we often hear, the NBA playoffs are about adjustments within a series. Thus, sports bettors must learn to anticipate them and understand how they will impact the betting market and potentially offer value. The Pacers delivered yet another improbable comeback to steal home-court advantage in the NBA Finals. The Thunder are now 11-point home favorites in Game 2 with an Over/Under total of 228.5. I expect Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault to change his starting lineup and revert to the one he used all postseason, after he mysteriously benched center Isaiah Hartenstein in favor of Cason Wallace. In fact, the double-big lineup of Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren didn't log a single minute together, after each had started every game this postseason. The move looked wise in the first half, forcing 19 turnovers. Daigneault afterward said the smaller Wallace provided more defensive flexibility against guards Tyrese Haliburton and Andrew Nembhard. Though that logic makes sense, it also allowed a poor rebounding Pacers team to dominate the glass with a 56-39 edge. Indiana also finished with 13 offensive boards, which is their most this postseason. For context, the Pacers ranked third worst in rebounds per game and rebounding percentage throughout the regular season. The glass was supposed to be an Indiana weakness and the relatively inexperienced Daigneault unnecessarily and inexplicably made it an advantage. Isaiah Hartenstein grabs a rebound during the Thunder's Game 1 loss to the Pacers on June 5, 2025. Getty Images I think the coach realizes the mistake and starts Hartenstein. Even if that adjustment does not occur, he still figures to play him more than the 17 minutes he logged in Game 1. Even still, Hartenstein managed to grab nine rebounds in that limited play. Betting on the NBA? So any way you slice it, Hartenstein's rebounds prop of 6.5 feels too low. OKC needs his presence, especially because Holmgren seems allergic to rebounds lately. The 7-footer has gone under his rebound prop in six straight games. I am 46-40-1 ATS in this Post sports section and my next play is Hartenstein Over 6.5 rebounds in Game 2. What Are the Steelers' Super Bowl Odds After Signing Aaron Rodgers?
There's reason to celebrate in Pittsburgh after the Steelers are set to reportedly sign Aaron Rodgers to a 1-year deal. But who, exactly, is celebrating is a hotly contested debate. For Rodgers, it's a chance at redemption and a chance to solidify his legacy, after a mostly unimpressive stint with the New York Jets the last two seasons. Rodgers had initially joined a Jets team loaded with weapons and one quarterback away from making a deep playoff run. Rodgers was supposed to be the final missing piece, that is until he ruptured his Achilles four snaps into the 2023 season. Advertisement The following year, the Jets fired their coach, Robert Saleh, midway into the season and the hapless Jets finished with a 5-12 stinker. After much speculation, the Jets ultimately parted ways with Rodgers, 41, who then contemplated retirement or sign elsewhere. Related: Aaron Rodgers Officially Announces Decision on 2025 Season That other team is turning out to be the Steelers. But while Rodgers may be celebrating another year of employment, are fans celebrating the signing? Pittsburgh went 10-7 with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Wilson left this offseason and signed with the New York Giants, while Fields ended up in Rodgers' old stomping grounds with the Jets, leaving the Steelers reeling in the quarterback depth chart. While Rodgers may be an upgrade over Mason Rudolph, that's not saying all that much. Advertisement There was a time when Rodgers signing with a new team -- like when he joined the Jets -- would bolster said team's Super Bowl odds. But Rodgers reportedly signing with the Steelers didn't move the needle in Vegas, and there's actually a reasonable explanation. According to DraftKings Sports, the Steelers' chances before Rodgers signed with Pittsburgh were +4000. And after he signed? Still +4000. By comparison, the Steelers' odds at BetMGM is still at +4500 to win the Super Bowl, putting them at 17 among the 32 teams. The Steelers also have a win total of 8.5, and they remain an underdog to make the postseason at +150. Advertisement So, why didn't Rodgers' signing move the needle? "They would have been rated towards the bottom without this signing," BetMGM trading manager Christian Cipollini told Yahoo Sports. "Obviously a massive upgrade over other QBs in the room, but it was assumed he was going to sign [with Pittsburgh] so it was baked in." So, Vegas had a hunch he'd sign with the Steelers and factored that into the 2025 Super Bowl odds and still didn't give Pittsburgh a real chance at winning the Lombardi Trophy.
