This could be the reason Rams TE Terrance Ferguson hasn't signed his rookie contract yet

This could be the reason Rams TE Terrance Ferguson hasn't signed his rookie contract yet There are still 30 unsigned second-round picks from the 2025 draft, including Ferguson A few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Rams got to work on signing their rookies – both drafted and undrafted players. A total of 19 rookies inked their first contracts in the NFL on May 10, four of them being draft picks. The Rams' only two draftees who still haven't signed yet are Terrance Ferguson (second round) and Jarquez Hunter (fourth round). When it comes to Ferguson's situation, there's very likely a reason his contract remains unsigned – and the Rams have two other teams to blame. Of the 32 players drafted in the second round this year, only two of them have signed: Jayden Higgins of the Texans and Carson Schwesinger of the Browns. What do their two contracts have in common? They're both fully guaranteed, and they were signed only one day apart. Not to mention, they were the first two picks in the second round. It's no coincidence that other teams have chosen not to follow in the footsteps of the Texans and Browns by giving their second-round rookies fully guaranteed contracts. But you can bet the agents of those players are now pushing for their clients to also get fully guaranteed deals. That likely includes Ferguson, who was the 46th overall pick in the draft out of Oregon. There are still 11 players drafted ahead of him who have not signed their contracts yet, and Ferguson may not put pen to paper until he sees a player drafted higher than him sign a contract that isn't fully guaranteed. The Rams likely won't budge on this unless every other team follows the Texans' and Browns' lead, but they do have a history of rewarding second-rounders with better contracts. Just last year, the Rams gave Braden Fiske an atypical contract for a second-round pick when they made three years of his deal fully guaranteed, while also guaranteeing 15% of his salary in Year 4. The overall value of their contracts can't change due to the CBA but agents can negotiate how much of their clients' deals are guaranteed. So until we have more movement on these contracts for players picked ahead of Ferguson, we'll probably have to wait a little while longer for his deal to get signed. The good news is he's been participating in the offseason program, as has Hunter. So they're not letting these contract situations get in the way of their work.

There will be a new weapon in the Los Angeles Rams' offense this season after the team drafted Terrance Ferguson in the second round. The Oregon tight end should be featured early on as a rookie, complementing Puka Nacua and Davante Adams as someone who can make plays over the middle of the field. Ferguson won't suit up for his first regular-season game until Sept. 7 but he was one of the many rookies to participate in the NFLPA Rookie Premiere so fans got a first look at him in Royal and Sol. Advertisement The Rams shared a couple of photos of Ferguson in full uniform from the Rookie Premiere and he looks ready to take the field on Sundays. Ferguson also shared some photos of himself in uniform on Instagram, giving fans another look at his No. 18 Jersey. The NFLPA posted a photo of the whole group at the Rookie Premiere, including Ashton Jeanty, Jaxson Dart, Can Ward and Travis Hunter. Ferguson can be spotted on the left side of the photo. Week 1 is still four months away but Ferguson and the rest of the team will be on the field for training camp in July so it won't be long before the rookie is catching passes from Matthew Stafford in full pads. There's a special meaning behind Terrance Ferguson's jersey number choice with the Rams

There's a special meaning behind Terrance Ferguson's jersey number choice with the Rams Looks like Rams rookie TE Terrance Ferguson chose jersey number 18 to honor his former Oregon teammate, the late Spencer Webb. (Via Terrance's Instagram story) — Stu Jackson (@StuJRams) May 9, 2025 Rams rookies are officially in the building for the start of minicamp and on Friday, players picked their jersey numbers. None of them are wearing the same number they wore in college, but there's a special meaning behind Terrance Ferguson's choice. Ferguson will wear No. 18 with the Rams this year, which is the same number his former teammate Spencer Webb wore at Oregon. Webb tragically died at the age of 22 in a cliff-diving accident in Oregon during the summer of 2022, mere months before his first child was born. By picking 18, Ferguson is paying tribute to his late teammate, who also played tight end for the Ducks. He shared the following photo on his Instagram story Friday, writing 'LLSW' (Long Live Spencer Webb) in the post. Back in 2022, Ferguson shared this post on Instagram, paying tribute to his fallen teammate. Ferguson and Webb played one season together in 2021, each scoring a touchdown and combining for 30 total receptions. Ferguson caught 17 passes for 141 yards and two scores, while Webb caught 13 passes for 87 yards and one touchdown.

Rams Add 6-Foot-5 Target for Matthew Stafford in NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is under way and the Los Angeles Rams have always been one of the smartest drafting teams. After trading out of the first round with the Atlanta Falcons, they had to wait until the second round to make their first splash in the draft. Advertisement General manager Les Snead has been known as one of the leagues best masterminds in the NFL, with a knack for finding incredible talent in seemingly every single draft. With his first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson with the No. 46 pick. Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson (3) is congratulated by quarterback Bo Nix (10) after scoring a touchdown against the Stanford Cardinal during the third quarter at Stanford Yamashita-Imagn Images With this pick, the Rams offensive weapons are almost complete. Matthew Stafford's weapons consist of Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, and now Terrance Ferguson. Ferguson is a 6-foot-5 tight end and incredible playmaker who set records during his time at Oregon. He is the Ducks' all-time leader in receptions (134) and receiving touchdowns (16) for tight ends throughout his four year career. Advertisement His game should translate to the NFL very easily, as he is a fast playmaker with reliable hands, and should be a great reliable weapon after the injuries to Tyler Higbee plagued his 2024 campaign. At the NFL Combine, Ferguson ran the fastest 40-yard dash amongst tight ends with a 4.63, which will help him break free from coverage and get yards after the catch. The Rams' next pick will be pick No. 90 in the third round, unless Snead has another trade up his sleeve. Related: Former Rams All-Pro Exploring Trade Options
