Rams' offensive rookie named 'most pivotal' for 2025 season
The Los Angeles Rams didn't make any splashy draft moves this past spring. Instead, they opted to fill roles that were missing on offense and defense. We'll see how those plans play out soon, but for now the Rams feel confident in their 2025 draft class after a few great classes in recent years that resulted in the likes of Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua, Kobie Turner and Jared Verse. Dan Parr broke down one pivotal rookie for all 32 teams and picked second-round tight end Terrance Ferguson for the Rams because of the depth he adds to the position room and what his availability unlocks for the offense. With Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen also on the roster, Sean McVay has the personnel to hit defenses with a good share of two-TE sets, something the coach seems excited about. Ferguson is not a strong blocker right now, but he has the ball skills and size (6-5, 247) to become a nuisance for defenses in the short-to-intermediate passing game, as long as his groin injury doesn't linger. That's the type of player Matthew Stafford was missing for much of last season, when the Rams ranked dead last in receiving yards by tight ends. Whether or not McVay uses more two tight-end sets remains to be seen, but he has the option now with that quartet of players. The 2025 season proved that Higbee was the only truly reliable tight end of the group. Still, another offseason for Parkinson and Allen could bring them up to speed a little better and set their expectations properly now that Higbee is fully recovered from the injury that sidelined him for most of the 2024 season. Ferguson was a relatively productive tight end during his final college season at Oregon. He caught 43 receptions for 591 yards and three touchdowns — not gaudy numbers, but he was involved enough to make an impact. He may not have an immediate impact, but his potential role in the offense could be important as the season progresses. Madden 26 ratings for every Rams rookie: Terrance Ferguson gets shockingly low rating
With the release of 'Madden NFL 26' on the horizon, EA Sports is rolling out ratings for players in the game. On Wednesday, rookie ratings were revealed, showing just how high (or low) each first-year player's rating is. Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty were among the NFL's top-rated rookies at 84 and 83 overall, respectively, both of which are significantly higher than any of the Rams' draft picks. Terrance Ferguson was the Rams' top pick in this year's draft but he's not the team's highest-rated rookie. Surprisingly, he's not even one of the Rams' three best rookies in the game. Fourth-round running back Jarquez Hunter and third-round edge rusher Josaiah Stewart are tied for the highest rookie ratings on the team at 72 overall, followed by Ty Hamilton. Ferguson is tied with Konata Mumpfield, a seventh-round receiver, at 69 overall. Chris Paul Jr. is the lowest-rated Rams draft pick with a 68 overall rating. RB Jarquez Hunter: 72 OLB Josaiah Stewart: 72 DL Ty Hamilton: 71 WR Konata Mumpfield: 69 TE Terrance Ferguson: 69 LB Chris Paul Jr.: 68 EA included five undrafted Rams rookies in the game's ratings so far, as well. Safety Nate Valcarcel is the team's top UDFA at 63 overall, with Shaun Dolac (62) and Trey Wedig (60) being the other two players whose ratings are 60 or higher. S Nate Valcarcel: 63 LB Shaun Dolac: 62 OT Trey Wedig: 60 OT Ben Dooley: 59 OL Willie Lampkin: 59 It's shocking how low Ferguson's rating is, especially considering how well he tested at the NFL combine. He was the most athletic tight end in testing this year so one would've thought his rating would be fairly high. His speed rating is 85, but his agility is only 78 and his change of direction is 68; for comparison, Mumpfield's change of direction is 88. Below is a look at some key ratings for each of the Rams' rookies in the game. This article originally appeared on Rams Wire: Madden 26 ratings for every Rams rookie, led by two mid-round picks

Rams GM Les Snead had 3 words to say about rooting against the Falcons for a better draft pick
The Los Angeles Rams will be hoping for two things in 2025: That they do well and that the Atlanta Falcons do poorly. That's because L.A. owns Atlanta's first-round pick in 2026 after they traded out of the first round this past season. The Falcons took edge rusher James Pearce with the Rams' No. 26 pick, while the Rams took tight end Terrance Ferguson with the Falcons' No. 46 pick. The bittersweet part of all this is that former Rams' defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is the head coach of the Falcons. That isn't lost on Rams general manager Les Snead, but he told the "NFL Daily" podcast this week that "business is business" when it comes to rooting against other teams when you have their draft pick. The Rams can go in a few directions with their two first-rounders in 2026. They could keep both and make two selections in the first round, trade one or both to move up in the first round (perhaps to take Arch Manning if he declares) or even trade one or both picks away before the draft for veterans that can help their 2025 plans. The world is the Rams' oyster, but a worse season from the Falcons will help the Rams' draft pick as well as their push for playoff contention in 2025.

Jared Verse has been 'very impressed' by Rams' rookies: 'They've been dominating'
Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse knows a thing or two about impressive rookies, being one himself last season. He knows how difficult it can be to come in and stand out right away, but he did that and more in 2024 when he was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year. Now in his second season, he's getting to watch a new crop of young players come into the league. The Rams had a draft class of six players this year, led by second-rounder Terrance Ferguson, and they'll all have a chance to contribute in 2025. So far, Verse has been 'very impressed' by Los Angeles' first-year players, mentioning in a recent interview that Ferguson has really caught his attention. 'He got me very impressed watching him in some of those 7-on-7, sometimes in the team reps, he's been really dominating,' Verse told J.B. Long. 'The rookies as a whole, Jarquez Hunter, they've been dominating all across the field. Pooh, when he gets his opportunities, he's been out there. But we have a good rookie class, I'm very impressed by them. Verse made sure to circle back to fellow pass rusher Josaiah Stewart, bringing him up unprompted as someone who's getting better each day. Verse said Thursday was Stewart's best day of practice all offseason: 'He was dominating.' 'Josaiah, I think he took his biggest step today,' Verse said. 'He was dominating, he was finishing up the sacks that he had, he was working a lot of speed, he was getting off the ball. I think today was by far his best practice – OTAs, training camp, all included.' It's always good to get a player's perspective on their teammates, especially when Verse is in the same position group as Stewart and trying to tackle Hunter in practice. By all accounts, the rookies are off to a strong start but it's still incredibly early in the process. They'll really get a chance to shine in the preseason when players are hitting and playing full speed. Rams rookie Terrance Ferguson says he has some similar traits to Travis Kelce
After the Los Angeles Rams drafted Terrance Ferguson, Sean McVay made some bold comparisons for the rookie tight end. He sees similarities between Ferguson and Travis Kelce, as well as former Pro Bowl tight end Chris Cooley, whom McVay coached in Washington. McVay isn't the only one who sees Kelce's game in Ferguson's because the rookie tight end himself feels the same way. During an interview on ESPN LA, Ferguson was asked which tight end he plays like and he immediately mentioned Kelce. 'I take a lot of things from everybody's game,' he said. 'I try to be a student of the game and learn a lot from different people. I feel like some of the running routes and things at the top of the routes, I feel like I have some movements like Travis Kelce and that's one of the best ever. I definitely model my game and watch a lot of his tape just because he's so special at the top of his route and after the catch and I feel like I have similar movement patterns as him. But then there's other guys like Mark Andrews and George Kittle that are workhorses. You can learn something from a wide receiver out here on a release. You can learn from everybody, so I try to pick a little bit of everything but I would say definitely Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews.' Ferguson and Kelce are both around 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, so their frames are akin to one another. Kelce has been arguably the best tight end of this generation, so Ferguson has a long way to go before he reaches the All-Pro's level. But it's never a bad thing to model your game after a superstar. Both players are savvy route runners and incredibly dangerous after the catch, which the Rams are sure to take full advantage of his skill set this season. If he becomes anything like the player that Kelce is, Los Angeles will have hit a home run in the second round.
