Bindi Irwin holds onto her mother Terri as she lands in LA after her emergency surgery as her husband Chandler enjoys father-daughter time with four-year-old Grace

Bindi Irwin has been seen for the first time following an emergency health crisis that saw her land up in hospital in New York. The conservationist, 26, held onto her mother Terri as they jetted into Los Angeles on Monday, just two weeks after she suffered a ruptured appendix and was rushed into surgery. Bindi wore a loose long black dress and a pair of comfortable brown sneakers as she walked through the airport. She covered her famous face with a black mask and carried a floral duffle bag on her shoulder. Bindi linked her arm with her mother Terri, who dressed in blue jeans, a printed shirt and dark sneakers. Bindi's husband Chandler has been looking after their four-year-old daughter Grace in Oregon while she recovered from her procedure. On Sunday, Chandler was seen enjoying some father-daughter time with Grace as they went for a walk to the local park. The pair were seen feeding the birds bread as they explored the area. Earlier this month, Bindi was rushed to hospital just hours after touching down in Las Vegas for a gala honouring her late father Steve Irwin. She suffered a ruptured appendix and was raced into surgery, missing the prestigious event which she was due to attend alongside brother Robert Irwin and mother Terri Irwin. Robert told People magazine at the time that Bindi was recovering and her mother is at her bedside. 'She's going to be okay, but surgery - out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,' Robert explained. Terri also missed the event while accompanying her daughter to hospital and staying by her side through surgery. Robert explained that Bindi had been suffering some pain in the lead up to the gala but had tried to soldier on. 'She came to Las Vegas and was ready to put on a brave face. She said, 'I'm just going to tough it out.' 'But the surgeon told her, "Your appendix is going. It's got to come out".' In an Instagram post, Bindi revealed that while her appendix was removed, doctors discovered another 14 lesions from her endometriosis. These were also successfully removed. She also had a large hernia repaired which had developed after giving birth to daughter Grace in 2021.

Bindi Irwin seen in public for first time since undergoing harrowing emergency surgery

Bindi Irwin is on the road to recovery after a difficult few weeks. Spotted on her first public outing since she underwent emergency surgery in New York earlier this month, the 26-year-old was seen back on her feet and looking in good spirits on Monday as she arrived at Los Angeles International Airport from the Big Apple. With her mum Terri Irwin by her side, Bindi acknowledged photographers who appeared to wish her a speedy recovery as she made her way to a waiting car outside the terminal. Despite her recent hospitalisation, the Aussie conservationist was strong enough to tote her own carry-on bag while dressed in a relaxed maxidress for the cross-country journey. On Monday, Bindi also took to Instagram to tell her followers that she was on the mend following emergency surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York after suffering from a ruptured appendix. During the operation, doctors also found 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed, and they also repaired a large hernia Bindi had acquired when she gave birth to her daughter Grace four years ago. 'Healing. Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness,' she wrote on Instagram yesterday alongside some photos of her on the mend. 'The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain. I've battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years. 'This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated,' she added of her condition in which the cells that line the uterus also grow in other parts of the body, which can cause painful scar tissue. 'We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women's health. I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care.' Bindi had travelled to the US earlier this month with her mum and brother, Robert Irwin, to attend an annual gala for their late father Steve Irwin in Las Vegas. However, she didn't make the event after she was rushed to hospital on May 12. 'Hey guys, Bindi here. I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes. I just got out of surgery about an hour ago,' she groggily said in an Instagram video shared at the time. 'I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed and they kindly stitched up my hernia as well.' 'I'm sorry if I'm a little out of it in this video. But I just wanted you to know that I'm on the road to recovery one step at a time and I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family.' Robert, 21, held down the fort for Bindi at the gala in Las Vegas, but told reporters at the event that her hospitalisation had come as a shock to the family.

Robert Irwin posts sweet tribute to sister Bindi Irwin after major surgery: 'Crippling'

Robert Irwin has shared a sweet tribute to his sister Bindi Irwin after she revealed earlier this month that she had been forced to have surgery to remove her appendix and 14 lesions as a result of her endometriosis. Doctors also needed to repair a hernia that she acquired during childbirth four years ago. Bindi pulled out of the Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas for the surgery, leaving Robert to host the event solo. It comes after the Wildlife Warrior had 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago. Taking to Instagram, Robert shared a photo of himself and Bindi wearing their khaki Australia Zoo uniforms. He wrote, "Happy to see you on the up and up, Bindi. You face every hurdle head on, take it in your stride and inspire us." Bindi commented on the post, "One day at a time. Tremendously grateful for your support. You're the best." "Bindi, as someone who is fighting endometriosis as well, thank you for being the light in the dark tunnel of madness," a third said. "They don't call her a warrior for nothing," another said. On the same day as the Steve Irwin Gala, Bindi revealed she underwent surgery. She shared a video and a lengthy statement on Instagram, which read: "I am so thankful that I got the help I needed with Dr. Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hill Hospital. After having a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help the day of our Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas. "I consulted with Dr. Seckin, and we agreed that if I flew to New York, he could also check for endometriosis again. Surgery was a success. My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago). Robert Irwin leaves his mother ‘fuming' after he's spotted on night out with mystery woman in Las Vegas

Robert Irwin has been spotted with a young woman in Las Vegas as he enjoyed an evening out. Ahead of his debut on the US version of Dancing with the Stars in a few weeks, Robert travelled to Vegas with his mum, Terri, and sister, Bindi, for the annual Steve Irwin Gala on May 10. Rob was spotted ditching his family later in the evening to go for dinner with a mystery blonde woman. Photos emerged of the pair walking closely together down the Vegas strip before they sat next to each other in the corner of a small ramen restaurant. A source close to the family told Daily Mail Australia that Robert's decision to be seen with the woman may have left his mother disappointed. 'Terri doesn't care who the girl is. She just thinks the whole thing looks really bad, especially with Robert about to appear on the US version of Dancing with the Stars,' the insider said. 'While the cat's away, the mice will play. 'Robert doesn't usually get much downtime, so he let his hair down but Terri was expecting him to keep things low-key, not hit the strip with a blonde on his arm.' Rob was left to fend for himself in the US when Terri rushed to hospital to be with her daughter after Bindi had to go in for emergency surgery. 'They're in full damage control,' added the insider who said Terri is 'fuming' with her son over his latest antics. 'The line from the Irwins is 'there's nothing to see here'. But behind closed doors, Terri is fuming,' they said. Irwin's love life has been somewhat scattered in recent months. He was first linked with Australian Zoo worker Charlotte Briggs last July when they arrived in Sydney together. Reports later emerged claiming the pair had made things official behind closes doors in November. However, it emerged in February that Irwin and Briggs called it quits shortly before they made the step to go public. The pictures of Irwin with a mystery new woman come after his sister, Bindi, was rushed into surgery for a ruptured appendix. Bindi addressed her concerned fans directly, in a video filmed from her hospital bed shortly after she underwent surgery. 'Hey guys, Bindi here. I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes. I just got out of surgery about an hour ago,' the mum-of-one groggily announced, before revealing just how serious the surgery had been. 'I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed and they kindly stitched up my hernia as well.'
