On Aug 12, Terry Lee Zheng Chong was given four new charges – one each for theft, having a weapon in a public place, methamphetamine consumption and being in possession of drug paraphernalia. The 23-year-old Singaporean's latest charges came after he purportedly stole a gold chain worth more than $16,000 from a Carousell user on Aug 10. The victim allegedly met Lee in Clementi and placed the gold chain on a weighing machine to show its weight. Lee 'under the pretext of examining the item more closely, (allegedly) took the gold chain and fled', the police said in a statement. 'The victim chased after (Lee) and successfully detained him along Commonwealth Avenue West with the assistance of a passer-by. The stolen gold chain and a folding knife were found in (Lee's) possession,' the police added. Lee's other charges are related to a separate incident. Court documents stated that he allegedly consumed methamphetamine in late January. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed.
