Tesla launches 6-seater, long-wheelbase Model Y L in China
Tesla has introduced a new 6-seater, long-wheelbase version of its popular Model Y crossover in China, priced at 339,000 yuan (approx Rs 41.17 lakh). The new variant, called the Model Y L, comes as Tesla looks to refresh its line-up and counter rising competition from domestic players in China.

The Model Y L is offered exclusively in long-range all-wheel-drive (AWD) guise. It uses dual motors: 193bhp up front and 269bhp at the rear, powered by an 82kWh battery pack. The SUV accelerates from 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds and delivers a CLTC-rated range of 751km, marginally higher than the standard Model Y despite weighing 96kg more (2,088kg). Tesla attributes this to aerodynamic refinements and new wheel design.
While the Model Y L's exterior remains largely familiar, the focus on space, comfort, and premium upgrades aims to appeal to Chinese families seeking larger electric SUVs.
