Texas baseball score updates vs UT Arlington today: Longhorns host Mavericks
A 15-game ramp-up to SEC play for Texas baseball concludes on Tuesday when the Longhorns host UT Arlington at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns (13-1) have the opportunity to score a 14th consecutive win after dropping their season opener to Louisville. The 13-1 start is their best since 2005, when Texas began the season 16-0 and eventually won the national championship. Coach Jim Schlossnagle's team is coming off a series sweep of Santa Clara over the weekend. UT Arlington dropped two out of three games at Louisiana-Monroe. The lone common opponent between the Longhorns and Mavericks is Oklahoma State; Texas beat the Cowboys 14-8 on Feb. 16 while UTA dropped 19-4 and 10-4 decisions to Oklahoma State the following week. The Longhorns are expected to hand the ball to freshman right-hander Drew Rerick. It's a change in tact for Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle, who had been relying on freshman Jason Flores in midweek action with great success. Follow along for live updates, below. Bryce Navarre allowed his first run in 2⅔ innings of work on a two-out single in the ninth, leading the Longhorns to turn to Thomas Burns to secure the final out. After Bryce Navarre completed a second inning of scoreless relief for Texas, Ethan Mendoza finally came up with the big hit for the Longhorns, spraying a two-run triple into the right field corner that scored Will Gasparino and Cole Chamberlain. Jalin Flores followed with a sacrifice fly, and Adrian Rodriguez's third hit of the night drive in the fourth Texas run of the inning.
