News 8 visits schools for World Read Aloud Day
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – This Wednesday is World Read Aloud Day and News 8's Meteorologist James Gilbert headed to School No. 33 and Sports Director Thad Brown went to School No. 54 to read to students! This event is celebrated around the world by students, schools, and literacy advocates in more than 100 countries. It's designed to promote reading and the awareness that everyone has an inherent right to learn to read. 'It's an opportunity for them to see community leaders that they have seen out in their neighborhoods in a school setting and have a fun time with them, to just sit down and read,' Principal Lisa Garrow said.
