Shania Twain has used this multipurpose beauty balm since the '90s — and it's on sale for $17 on Amazon
Not to be hyperbolic, but I have been obsessed with Shania Twain since I came out of the womb. I knew the lyrics to "That Don't Impress Me Much" before I learned our national anthem, and to this day, I think "Honey, I'm Home" could awaken me from a medically induced coma. Shania Twain is a Canadian national treasure and someone I trust far too much for having never met. Through Shania, I have learned two important things: head-to-toe leopard print is iconic, and the beauty secret to surviving harsh dry weather is Vermont's Original Bag Balm. The 59-year-old has been a decades-long devotee of the moisturizing balm. In 1999, Shania mentioned Bag Balm in an interview with The London Telegraph, saying, "When I've been flying a lot and my skin is really dry, I'll rub it over my face and on my hair and leave it there all day." Shania Twin has called this 126-year-old jelly the "best of all things." More recently, in an interview with Us Weekly, the Canadian country music star called the balm "the best of all things." "I try to drink as much water as I can. I have always exfoliated. I don't actually buy an exfoliator; I just make it. If I'm somewhere near the beach, I'll use sand," she told the magazine. "I believe in old-fashioned things, like a bit of Vaseline. I always thought Bag Balm was the best of all things. The cosmetic one that's been a staple for me is Crème de la Mer." Originally created in 1899 — yes, 1899 — Bag Balm is a moisturizer that was designed to heal chapped cows' udders. It's formulated with petroleum jelly and lanolin and has been made in a small town in Vermont for the past 120-odd years. Shania, alongside other beauty icons like Raquel Welch, even inspired a new generation of social media "skinfluencers" to try the product. TikTok personality Alix Earle swears by the jelly as a cure for chapped lips and dry skin, and thousands of others have recommended the long-time farmer's secret as an alternative to Vaseline for skin slugging. The healing balm works similarly to a good old tub of petroleum jelly. You can apply it to dry, cracked skin on your hands, feet, elbows and even your lips. Some people swear by it as the miracle cure for diaper rash or irritated skin, and skincare obsessives say it's ideal for slugging. Do you suffer from painful skin chafing? Bag Balm can help with that, too. More than 400 people have purchased the celebrity-approved balm on Amazon Canada in the past month. Reviewers say it not only "works" but "works harder than anything else." "I believe in old-fashioned things, like a bit of Vaseline. I always thought Bag Balm was the best of all things," Shania Twain told Us Weekly. "I love [it] beyond words," writes one shopper. It's "even better than the expensive French hand cream I've been using for years." The salve is "wonderful," echos another. It "heals chapped hands, feet and even diaper rash!" It's "gentle and effective." With a 4.5-star average rating, shoppers say it's beyond "worth it." It's "awesome." If you have dry, cracked skin, "this is what you want." While the vast majority of reviewers call it a moisturizing superstar, some note it's "a bit greasy," something to keep in mind when placing your order.

Lizzo shows off her weight loss in a busty sheer leopard print look inspired by Shania Twain
Lizzo marked her 37th birthday by donning a Shania Twain -inspired full leopard look. The About Damn Time hitmaker, who hit Stagecoach with Paris Hilton this weekend, modeled a skintight, plunging, halter neck dress with a corset bodice in a sultry Instagram reel. Engaging her audience of 11.6 million, she used the country singer's 1997 hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman! off her Come On Over album as the soundtrack. Twain famously wore a head-to-toe leopard ensemble in her That Don't Impress Me Much music video, a single from the same LP. She's come to be synonymous with the bold print. Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, wore her caramel-highlighted locks in a flirty, 90s-esque updo and wrote in the caption, 'IT'S MY BDAYYYYYY!!!'' Her birthday post comes days after she finally revealed how she lost weight and what she quit to reach her goals. In a follow-up Instagram post, Lizzo shared an emotional caption with her legion of online fans. She wrote, 'I'm a tough cookie. I tried my whole life not to cry and be seen as anything less than strong. 'I had a lot of anxiety leading up to my birthday and I could feel it clogging my emotions… last night at dinner, while freaking out about not spending time with everyone equally and worrying if people were having a good time, I looked and saw my mommy brother & sister sitting in front of me, eating and smiling.' The note continued: 'I looked to my right and my best friend Lexo was making a joke about eating avocados and I lost it. 'I cried like a baby! I couldn't control the tears pouring through the wall I'd been hiding behind. I was SO HAPPY because regardless of yesterday and regardless of what was gonna happen next, in that very moment I had everything I needed. In that moment everything was ok.' In conclusion, she said, 'In this present moment I am sooo grateful for all of the birthday wishes and thoughts and prayers and love. I am so full so happy and so deeply blessed by you all.' The classically trained musician previously made a triumphant return to the stage in March with a show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Addressing the audience between songs, she opened up about her struggle with depression after getting hit with sexual harassment lawsuits in 2023. 'I named [my album Love In Real Life] because about a year and a half ago — it's so hard for me to talk about — I was in such a dark, deep depression,' she shared at the time. The star said her breakthrough came when a complete stranger at a concert 'looked at me and said, "Lizzo, I love you."' Ahead of her birthday, the Michigan-bred music artist showed off her slimmed down figure in a flesh-baring black outfit while performing with Hilton. She flaunted her cleavage in a semi-sheer bodysuit, adding a netted maxi skirt. Her birthday celebration comes amid her stunning weight loss, which she opened up about on TikTok last week, explaining that she shed pounds by avoiding sugary foods she used to regularly indulge in. She broke her Starbucks habit, she said, which included drinking 'two to three' large beverages a day. The pop star estimated they accounted for about 1200 calories in her daily diet. Jefferson, who revealed in January she lost 16% of her body fat, said she still has sweets, but is more mindful of what they are now.

Watch Billianne's stripped-back cover of Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much
The Milton, Ont. singer whittles the 1998 country hit down to its bare bones The 2025 Juno Awards are March 30, and CBC Music is officially in celebration mode. In the lead up to the awards, we're presenting the Juno Sessions: a series in which emerging musicians cover songs by artists who have previously won the coveted songwriter of the year award. Watch Good Kid's rollicking cover of Nelly Furtado's I'm Like a Bird In the second episode, Billianne delivers a playful and cheeky cover of Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much. Accompanied simply by acoustic guitar, the Milton, Ont. singer gives a rendition of the 1998 song that is more subdued, but still has the same bite as Twain's original. Billianne started her musical career with covers, notably of Tina Turner's The Best and Doris Day's Que Será, Será (Whatever Will Be, Will Be), showcasing her powerhouse vocals. The 21-year-old felt drawn to cover Twain for the Juno Sessions because she grew up listening to her during daycare. Her and the other young girls would "just be bouncing around the kitchen to Shania Twain songs," she told CBC Music. The song's lyricism particularly resonated with Billianne: "I like how she [was] just unapologetically [saying] 'You do not impress me whatsoever.' And I think, back when she wrote that, we didn't have the Sabrina Carpenters of now talking about men in that way. It's just cool that she did that. She was not even afraid to name drop Brad Pitt in a song and be like, 'You don't impress me.'" Twain won the Juno for songwriter of the year in 2000 for her songs Man! I Feel Like a Woman, That Don't Impress Me Much and You've Got a Way, from her 1999 album Come on Over. It's the second best-selling country album of all time and went on to influence the likes of Taylor Swift and Maren Morris. The 13-time Juno winner was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2011. Watch Billianne's take on Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much above, and stay tuned to for the rest of the 2025 Juno Session releases.
