The Pro Athletes Expected To Attend The 2025 Met Gala
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Serena Williams attends The 2024 Met Gala Celebrating "Sleeping ... More Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 06, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by) The 2025 Met Gala is billed as fashion's biggest night, with invitations going to A-listers in business, politics, entertainment and sports. Each year, the mega-watt guest list features pro athletes, including a few glam GOATS. This year, Serena Williams, Angel Reese, Simone Biles and Lewis Hamilton are expected to be among the pro athletes attending the Met Gala, which gets underway at 6 p.m. with red carpet arrivals on Vogue's website and its YouTube Channel. LeBron James was set to serve as honorary chairman but bowed out of the event due to a knee injury. The Los Angeles Lakers star said his wife Savanah would still attend. Hamilton will co-chair along with Academy Award nominated actor Colman Domingo, rapper A$AP Rocky, and music producer Pharrell Williams. Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour will also serve as co-chair. The Met Gala is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The theme for the 2025 Met Gala is "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," a shout out to Black Dandyism, a term explored in Monica Miller's book 'Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity." The exhibit will focus on Black style, with emphasis on menswear from the 18th Century to modern attire. Few do black Dandyism like African American athletes who often arrive for game-day as if it were a runway. Celebrity stylist Courtney May dresses athletes for high-profile events and told ABC News that outfitting professional athletes comes with unique challenges. May had to enlist a Los Angeles shoemaker to design custom-sized 18 shoes to match a metallic Calivn Kline suite made for 6'9" WNBA star Brittany Griner to attend the 2023 Met Gala, shortly after being released from a Russian prison. Which athletes will show up at the 2025 Met Gala? There are always surprises but the following are some of the professional athletes you can expect to see at the 2025 Met Gala: NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Lewis Hamilton attends the 2024 Costume Institue Benefit for "Sleeping ... This year, Hamilton aims to surprise. Although Wintour's influence and opinion weigh heavily on the event, she insists she doesn't know what everybody will wear. In an interview with ABC's Good Morning America, Wintour said although she had not seen what Hamilton will be wearing, she's not concerned about his style. 'I trust Lewis. He knows what's doing,' Wintour said. Hamilton is not afraid of color or pattern. So expect the unexpected to be exquiste. Biles, fresh off 'Ridders Up' duties at the Kentucky Derby, hinted to People that she might be standing taller than usual at the Met Gala. 'I'll have to wear very high heels,' Biles said. Biles also told People that she and her husband, Chicago Bears Safety Jonathan Owens, are not working with the same designer. Not since Florence Griffith Joyner (Flo-Jo) has a track star drawn as much attention to her sprinting attire. Richardson first attended a Met Gala in 2021, when she wore a black and red bustier leather gown by designer Theophilio, accessorized by her signature nails in red, black, gold, and white. Williams walked the Met Gala stairs twice during pregnancy, once when carrying her first child, daughter Olympia Ohanian and two years ago when pregnant with daughter Adira. It's no secret that Wintour loves tennis and is friends with Federer and the Williams sister. Federer served as Met Gala co-chair in 2023. Naomi Osaka was co-chair in 2021. Last year, Venus attended the Met Gala. However, Venus will be part of TNT Sports coverage of the French Open so she might be a no show this evening. Other tennis stars who have attended the Met Gala are Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Emma Raducanu, Leylah Fernandez.

Ariana Grande's New Starry Collaboration Is Flying Under The Radar
Ariana Grande teams up with Jeff Goldblum for the traditional pop tune "I Don't Know Why (I Just ... More Do)," though their star power hasn't translated into a major hit. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: (L-R) Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jeff Goldblum attend The 2024 Met Gala Celebrating "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 06, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/MG24/Getty Images for The Met Museum/Vogue) Ariana Grande always commands a huge amount of attention whenever she releases new music. Well, almost always. Typically, when the pop superstar shares something, be it a cut from an upcoming album or a standalone release, the world stops to listen, and millions rush to stream, purchase, and talk about it. But her latest offering is flying a little more under the radar than usual, even though it sees her working with a familiar face. Just a few days ago, Grande dropped a brand new collaboration with actor-turned-musician Jeff Goldblum. Their song, titled "I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)," features not only Grande and Goldblum but also the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, the group that usually backs Goldblum in his musical endeavors. The traditional pop tune serves as the opening track on Goldblum's new album Still Blooming, which just days ago in late April. "I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)" is the standout from Still Blooming — at least relatively speaking. While it has performed better than the other tracks on the project, it's far from being a true hit. Despite Grande's star power, the collaboration hasn't managed to rack up a huge number of sales or streams, though as of the time of writing, it has been played more than one million times on Spotify. It might come as a surprise to some that Goldblum has built a pretty substantial side career as a jazz musician. Still Blooming is his fourth full-length, following 2023's Plays Well With Others, 2019's I Shouldn't Be Telling You This, and his official musical debut, The Capitol Studios Sessions, back in 2018. While none of his collections have been massive commercial successes, it's clear he's more interested in the art than the accolades or riches. Grande isn't the only A-lister who lent her voice to Still Blooming. The album is packed with big-name collaborators, including Cynthia Erivo and Scarlett Johansson. Goldblum, Erivo, and Grande all share a connection beyond this musical effort, as they recently worked together on Wicked, where Goldblum plays the Wizard of Oz and shares several scenes with both women. All three are expected to reunite on-screen later this year when Wicked: For Good, the second of two installments of the musical, hits theaters. As for Still Blooming, it might not become a bestseller – even with the involvement of stars like Grande and others – but superfans of all involved are surely enjoying the music nonetheless.

Ed Sheeran's New Single "Azizam" Is An Immediate No. 1
Ed Sheeran's new single 'Azizam' debuts inside the top 10 on four U.K. charts, including at No. 1 on ... More both the Official Singles Sales and Downloads rankings. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Ed Sheeran attends The 2024 Met Gala Celebrating "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 06, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by) Ed Sheeran is back on the charts, as he's produced yet another proper pop smash in his home country. The Grammy winner has been relatively quiet in terms of radio-ready singles lately, as he recently opted to release an all-acoustic album that, while beloved by some fans, wasn't built for chart success. Now, Sheeran reclaims his spot as one of the most reliable hitmakers in the world with 'Azizam' — a title that might raise eyebrows, but a tune that's already proving to be a fast favorite in his native United Kingdom. 'Azizam' debuts on the U.K. charts this frame, and it's clear from the start that Sheeran's latest release is another winner. The song opens on four separate tallies in his home country, and it manages to break into the top 10 on all of them right out of the gate. That kind of across-the-board debut is impressive, but not exactly surprising for someone of Sheeran's stature. As was expected, 'Azizam' easily snags the top spot on two U.K. rankings: the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts. The wins give Sheeran his fifteenth No. 1 on the download-only tally and his third on the overall sales list, which tracks the bestselling tunes across all formats. When it comes to top 10 placements, the singer-songwriter has more than doubled those totals. While 'Azizam' doesn't quite manage to debut at No. 1 on the Official Singles chart — the U.K.'s most competitive ranking of the most-consumed songs each week — it comes close to doing so. The new release launches at No. 3, giving Sheeran his forty-second top 10 on the tally. 'Azizam' is also Sheeran's eighty-fourth track to appear anywhere on the list. That means exactly half of his charting songs have broken into the top 10, which is an incredible ratio for any act. Of the four major U.K.-based charts that welcome 'Azizam' this week, the one where the tune performs the worst is the Official Streaming list. Even in that case, Sheeran still earns another top 10. The just-dropped track opens at No. 6 on the ranking of the most-played songs in the nation across platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and others. 'Azizam' is expected to lead Sheeran's next full-length, Play, his forthcoming project that breaks away from his long-running habit of naming albums after mathematical symbols. That series — including +, x, ÷, and - — defined the early stages of his career and spawned dozens of hits. He may be finished with that pattern, but Sheeran clearly isn't finished producing top 40 smashes.
