Group to honor 4 women who give back to their communities
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) – Women United, a group within the Capital Area United Way system, plans to honor women with a giving spirit at the end of the month of April.
An annual luncheon recognizes women who collaborate in giving, volunteering, and advocating alongside others while enhancing the well-being of their community through education, economic mobility, healthy living, and access to basic needs.
'Women are always here to empower other women, and we can do the best work when we empower each other. And at United Way, we find that it's important to not only support our own initiatives but uphold and support the other sectors of our community and all the good work people are doing,' Corporate Relationship Manager Emily Boudreaux said.
2025 honorees include four local women: Wanda August, Michelle Hardy, Olivia LeBlanc Andrews, and Yolanda Dixon. Women are nominated by community members before Boudreaux and the Women United committee selects award winners based on their service.
The keynote speaker for the luncheon is Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot. Boudreaux expects Babineaux-Fontenot to give an impactful speech about serving not only local communities but the nation and world.
When: Noon Wednesday, April 30. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
