Another prediction has Super Bowl stud signing with Cardinals in free agency
The Arizona Cardinals are preparing for the start of free agency and one player continues to come up as a likely target. In Pro Football Network's predictions for each team in free agency, the Cardinals add a player many have connected to them. They are predicted to sign Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat. Josh Sweat is PFSN's third-ranked free agent this offseason and is coming off a performance in the Super Bowl that put his skills in the shop window. Sweat proved what a destructive force he can be with 2.5 sacks and six combined tackles as he wreaked havoc on the Kansas City Chiefs. While Sweat has never piled up the huge sack numbers that we have seen from some edge rushers, he has 25.5 sacks over the past three years and has been a big part of the Eagles defense, which helped them win a Super Bowl. Sweat is versatile enough to play either standing up or with his hand on the ground and is more than capable of contributing as a run defender. Sweat is commonly connected to the Cardinals because of their need at the position and because he had two of his best seasons in the NFL when Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon was his defensive coordinator in 2021-2022. He made the Pro Bowl in 2021 and had a career-high 11 sacks in 2022. Sweat makes sense, depending on the length and size of a potential contract. PFN also named guard Trey Smith (Chiefs), EDGE Khalil Mack (Chargers), receiver Chris Godwin (Bucs) and receiver Keenan Allen (Bears) as potential matches for the Cardinals in free agency.
