Packers LB Isaiah Simmons subtly criticizes how he was used with Arizona Cardinals

Packers LB Isaiah Simmons subtly criticizes how he was used with Arizona Cardinals Simmons is focusing on a specific role with the Packers, saying he was basically asked to do much earlier in his career Isaiah Simmons ended up being somewhat of a disappointment for the Arizona Cardinals as a former first-round draft pick, selected eighth overall in 2020. He did have a pair of productive seasons in 2021 and 2022, but he didn't end up fitting with the culture and the defense when Jonathan Gannon became head coach in 2023. He was traded to the New York Giants before the 2023 season and played two seasons there in a reserve role. Now he is a member of the Green Bay Packers. As Cardinals fans will remember, he was drafted as a super athletic, super intelligent, versatile player. He played all over the field for Clemson and the Cardinals wanted him to be an inside linebacker with defensive back skills. One of his strengths was his abilities to have a lot of roles, something he relished in. With the Packers under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, he is focused on linebacker. He doesn't appear to relish in the versatility at this point, which might sound like a shot at the Cardinals. 'I think really what I ran into most of my career is everybody wants me to do everything, as opposed to letting me get really good at one thing first,' Simmons said during minicamp this past week. 'I fully believe in Haf's plan. He's letting me just lock in and learn a small portion first before we even think about expanding to anything else. That's something I really appreciate, because I never really had that opportunity to really just hone in on one being able to lock in on one thing, and do that 1/11 every day, that's been huge for me." He hasn't come close the production that he had with the Cardinals in 2021-2022 under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. He logged 1,005 and then 896 defensive snaps those seasons. In two seasons, he played a combined 558 defensive snaps for the Giants, who were not good. He totaled 71 total tackles, one sack, one interception, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles in two seasons. Playing a varied role of linebacker and in the slot in 2022 alone with the Cardinals, he had 99 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. It seems that Vance Joseph was the only coach to get anything productive out of Simmons. Gannon saw him as a safety in 2023, but he played linebacker for the Giants and now is again at linebacker for the Packers. Perhaps this will unlock his production again, but the fact of the matter is that he never played better than when he was in multiple roles for the Cardinals under Vance Joseph. The Cardinals with face Simmons and the Packers in Week 7 at State Farm Stadium. New users grabbing the Season Pass on YouTube can do so for $276, while those on YouTube's Primetime Channels will see it for $318. Last year, YouTube TV introduced "build a multiview," Fantasy score integration, and much more for NFL Sunday Ticket holders. YouTube is announcing deals and discounts for consumers interested in the NFL Sunday Ticket for the first time. Advertisement In a Reddit post, YouTube TV detailed new pricing discounts for new users, students, and military personnel (via 9to5Google). If you're a new subscriber to the NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV or YouTube, you will find a differently priced set of plans. According to the post, the Season Pass on YouTube TV for the 2025-2026 NFL season will cost $276 or 12 payments of $23 per month. If you're interested in RedZone, that'll take things up to $318 or 12 payments of $26.50 per month. Those opting for YouTube's Primetime Channels can grab their first Sunday Ticket season for the same prices as previously stated. It's worth stressing that these reduced pricing options are only available for new users and their first season with the NFL Sunday Ticket. Moving on, YouTube states students looking to grab the NFL Sunday Ticket Student Plan can do so for $119. Military personnel, veterans, teachers, and nurses will receive a discounted version of the NFL plan, which comes to $198, "in the next few days." The NFL Sunday Ticket evolves again due to user feedback, as YouTube states it's rolling out the option for viewers in more states to purchase/pay for the Season Pass in 12 monthly installments. YouTube warns that the plan length will shorten as the season nears (going from 12 months to 8 monthly payments). Pre-Season's right around the corner Advertisement Alternatively, users can expect YouTube TV to bring its Month-to-Month plan in early September. This gives users more flexibility in how they want to enjoy their football season. Users who've had the NFL Sunday Ticket before aren't in for any special deals or discounts as of right now. YouTube TV states you should still expect the same $378 charge for the Season Pass and $480 for YouTube's Primetime Channels. YouTube TV has continued to update its NFL Sunday Ticket experience, as last summer brought customization. During pre-season in August, YouTube TV said users could enjoy "build a multiview." Viewers can create a personal streaming view that consists of two, three, or four games to watch at once. Moreover, users can even attach their Yahoo Fantasy accounts to their NFL Sunday Ticket account to see fantasy scores as they change. The addition of extra playback controls and a spoiler mode entered last season to further progress the Sunday Ticket.

Gainesville fulfills its potential with a Virginia Class 6 baseball title

GLEN ALLEN, Va. — In the spring of 2022, John Miller was starting from scratch. The baseball coach at recently-opened Gainesville High, his team was entirely comprised of newcomers. But he saw their potential. Four years from now, he thought, this group could be a force. Right away, the Cardinals started punching above their weight. With each passing season, Miller scheduled harder opponents, and they answered every challenge. It accelerated the team's trajectory, quickly turning them into a contender in Northern Virginia. This year's squad, with that first group of players now holding the requisite experience, was ready.
