James Gunn has kicked off his cinematic universe in a big way, and the director and leader of the new DC Universe has dropped some major news about what is next for his grand universe.
"Peacemaker" Season 2 is set to debut August 21 on HBO Max, and is said to pick up right after the events of "Superman." Following that series, Gunn dropped a massive update on which film in the DCU is set to follow.

On the "I Think You're Overthinking It" podcast, Gunn stated that the next DCU movies to be released will be "The Batman: Part 2," followed by the "Superman" sequel.

Reports indicated that Gunn was already working on the script for the "Superman" sequel following the first film's release. Also, "The Batman: Part 2" has been coming along nicely, with Matt Reeves turning in a script that Gunn stated was "great."
What is interesting about Gunn's new update is that the next films released for the DCU won't particularly have much to do with one another. It has already been established that "The Batman" sequel and its universe exist in the DC Elseworlds continuity, which means it's an entirely different universe than the one "Superman" exists in.
Gunn also revealed one of the films in the DCU will be "The Brave and the Bold," which is supposed to introduce a new Batman and his son, Damien Wayne.
There have been rumors that Robert Pattinson's Batman could mean David Corenswet's Superman, though the dark and gritty nature of Reeves' Dark Knight universe might not be a good match.
Either way, fans can be happy to know the next planned films in Gunn's big DCU will revolve around the most popular DC heroes.
