Belly2Brain's bold Mandela Day campaign begins with 67-hour cage lock-in and 17 000 sandwich goal
After 67 hours confined in a cage inside Cradlestone Mall, Dominique Tibbles, the founder of Belly2brain, completed her mission to make 17 000 sandwiches for Mandela Day.
A very happy Dominique announced they had achieved their goal of making the sandwiches and managed to prepare all of them to donate to those in need, including The Cradle of Hope, The Bethany House Trust, Wings of Inspiration, and the community of Apple Park.
Following the emotional rollercoaster of being 'locked up', she said the joy far outweighed the negativity associated with it. She was thrilled to see that over 300 people had come to the mall to help make the sandwiches.
'Usually, we finish making the sandwiches by the afternoon [on Mandela Day]; however, due to all the helping hands, we finished about three hours earlier, and had a thousand more sandwiches than last year!'
She is uncertain about doing this initiative again next year.
'Every year I say it is the last time I am doing it, but the next year I do it anyway. I'll rest on it and decide if I'll do it again,' she concluded.
