"Siko Siko" Ranks Among Top 5 Highest-Grossing Egyptian Film of all Time

Yara Sameh Egyptian stars Taha Desouky and Essam Omar's comedy film "Siko Siko" has passed another major milestone. The pic has grossed EGP 130 million in 22 days, dethroning "The Blue Elephant 2" to become the fifth highest earning film in Egyptian cinema. 'Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya' (EGP 250 million), "Beit El Ruby" (EGP 130 million), 'El Hareefa: Al Remontada' (EGP 100 million), and "Kira & El Gin" (EGP 120 million) are now the only films ahead of 'Siko Siko' in terms of the highest-grossing films of all time at the Egyptian box office. "Siko Siko" boasts a cast that includes Tara Emad, Bassem Samra, Ali Sobhy, Khaled El Sawy, Diana Hisham, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and more. Omar El Mohandes helmed the film from a script by Mohamed El Dabbah, which took two years of writing and production to come to light and was initially set to be a TV series before it turned into a film. 'Siko Siko' is a social comedy that revolves around "Two cousins, both from a middle-class background, finally see their dream come true when their inheritance is rightfully returned to them following their uncle's death. Soon after, and to their shock, they discover that the inheritance is in the form of illegal goods. In order to liquidate these goods, they create an elaborate mobile game in order to sell the goods through it. They call this game… 'Siko Siko'. The cousins enjoy a brief moment of spectacular success before a mob boss appears in their lives, and claims to be the real owner of the goods!". The feature marks Desouky and Omar's first major role in a film. Karim Abdel Aziz Unveils Release Date for ‘The Blue Elephant 3'

'The Blue Elephant 2' (2019) grossed over EGP 100 million, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in Egyptian cinema. Feb 19, 2025 Egyptian actor Karim Abdel Aziz has revealed that 'The Blue Elephant 3', a new instalment of the blockbuster psychological thriller film franchise, will be released during Eid al-Adha 2026. Directed by Marwan Hamed and based on Ahmed Mourad's best-selling novel of the same name, 'The Blue Elephant' (2014) follows psychiatrist Yehia Rashid, played by Karim Abdel Aziz, as he is drawn into a complex world of psychological disorders, supernatural elements and crime. The first film was critically praised for its intense storyline and high production value, achieving significant box office success, grossing approximately EGP 30 million (around USD 4.2 million at the time). Its sequel, 'The Blue Elephant 2' (2019), surpassed its predecessor's success, grossing over EGP 100 million, making it one of the highest-grossing films in Egyptian cinema history at that time. The announcement of 'The Blue Elephant 3' confirms that the story will continue, though further plot details remain undisclosed.
