'Aztec Batman: Clashes of Empires': How to watch new Batman movie trailer

There's still quite some time before we'll get any previews of Batman's next two live-action movies, Andy Muschietti's "The Brave and the Bold" and Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II." Luckily, though, you don't have to wait to get your fix of the Dark Knight: Warner Bros. Entertainment officially unveiled the first trailer for the animated film, "Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires." The DC animation takes a unique approach to the story of Bruce Wayne, placing the characters in the Aztec Empire on the brink of Spanish colonization. As shown in the trailer, the son of an Aztec ruler takes on the role of a bat-themed warrior to fight Spanish conquistadors following the death of his father. It also teases a new spin on classic villains like the Joker, Two-Face and Poison Ivy, who have been altered to fit the era of the movie. Where to watch the new Batman movie trailer You can get a first look at "Aztec Batman: Clash of the Empires" by watching Warner Bros. Entertainment's official teaser on X. The film is slated to hit streaming services on Sept. 9, 2025, so keep an eye out for any additional trailers that may come out for another look prior to its release. James Gunn Says THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Isn't DCU's Priority Yet, Keeps Batman Casting Under Wraps — GeekTyrant

James Gunn is in no rush to reveal who will wear the cape and cowl in The Brave and the Bold . While fans are eager to meet the DCU's new Batman, Gunn made it clear that the project is still in early development. Gunn was asked about casting on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and he responded: 'There's people out there I think about, but let's see where the script comes in. It's not the furthest along thing. I mean, we have things that are much, much further along.' This means fans shouldn't expect news anytime soon. Gunn also confirmed that Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II and The Brave and the Bold likely won't share a release year. He avoided confirming whether this film will serve as the official debut of the DCU's Dark Knight but did tease its significance, noting it will introduce Damian Wayne as Robin, marking the first live-action appearance of Bruce Wayne's son. For those keeping track, Gunn and Safran's DCU rollout is pacing differently than Marvel. After Superman , the only other major DC release this year is Peacemaker Season 2, which arrives on HBO Max August 21. Supergirl follows on June 26, 2026, and Clayface lands on September 11, 2026. That's two DC films in 2025 compared to Marvel's three movies and three series before mid-year. As for Batman , patience will be key. The Batman Part II is set to start filming in 2026 with an October 2027 release date, making it almost certain that Reeves' sequel will arrive before Gunn's take on the Dark Knight. For now, The Brave and the Bold has no set release date, so it may be a while before we see the Bat-family enter the new DCU. Would you rather see Gunn introduce Batman sooner in a cameo or wait for a full introduction in The Brave and the Bold ?

Director Andy Muschietti Reportedly "Obviously" No Longer Involved with BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD — GeekTyrant

There's been a lot of talk and specualtion about what is really going on with DCU's Batman film project The Brave and the Bold . On this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider commented on the film project, saying he 'doesn't get the vibe' the project is moving forward and noted that director Andy Muschietti is 'obviously' no longer involved, though that has yet to be confirmed. When Gunn was recently asked about the project, he said: 'There's really no new updates. I mean, we're working on a script. We have a screenwriter who's hammering away at it. I'm very involved, and so, you know, we'll see what happens next. I wish I had more news for you, but I don't.' It would be a bummer if Muscheitti actually did exit the project, I think he would do something really cool with it. But, if DC Studios does need a new director to jump on board, it will be interesting to see who that will be. Regardless, it seems like it's going to be a long while before this DC project actually starts to gain some really traction. Gunn is going to take his time with this one to make sure that they get it right.

James Gunn Says He's 'Very Involved' in DCU's THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD – Script in the Works — GeekTyrant

While most DC fans have been waiting for Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part II , whihc is still a few years out, there's another Batman movie in development with The Brave and the Bold , the DCU's own take on the Dark Knight. James Gunn, who's been busy shaping the future of the DCU and launching it with Superman , recently gave a small but reassuring update about the Batman project during a conversation in London. 'There's really no new updates,' Gunn said when asked about The Brave and the Bold. 'I mean, we're working on a script. We have a screenwriter who's hammering away at it. I'm very involved, and so, you know, we'll see what happens next. I wish I had more news for you, but I don't.' It's not much, but at least it's in active development, with Gunn keeping a close eye on the direction. Interestingly, he also shared that he has Reeves' The Batman: Part II script on hand: 'But luckily, I've got The Batman 2 script in my backpack, and I'm about to read it.' Two very different Batman films. Two different universes. And both of them are being nurtured with care. One is a gritty noir-driven sequel continuing Pattinson's journey, and the other, The Brave and the Bold , is expected to introduce a new Batman alongside his son Damian Wayne, all set within Gunn and Safran's broader DCU reboot. While concrete details are still under wraps, it's clear Gunn is deep in the Batcave on this one. Source: GamesRadar+

'Superman' Director Teases Batman's Appearance in Upcoming Film

'Superman' Director Teases Batman's Appearance in Upcoming Film originally appeared on Parade. As audience members count down the days to the release of Superman, director James Gunn is fielding certain long-standing questions about the future fate of the DCU. Rebooting the DC Universe from the ground up, the 58-year-old Gunn has had his hands full plotting out the course of DC's cinematic trajectory. But as speculation runs rampant about the rumors of projects centered around Batman, Wonder Woman or Green Lantern, the former Guardians of the Galaxy is sharing his candid thoughts on each character's presence in the DCU. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Gunn specifically discussed the significant wait behind a solo Batman film, referring to the character as the "biggest issue in all of DC right now." 'Batman has to have a reason for existing, right?" Gunn said. "So Batman can't just be 'Oh, we're making a Batman movie because Batman's the biggest character in all of Warner Bros.,' which he is." "I'm not interested in a funny, campy Batman, really," the director continued. "So we're dealing with that. I think I have a way in, by the way. I think I really know what it's — I just am dealing with the writer to make sure that we can make it a reality.' Earlier this year, a DCU-oriented Batman film entered production. Titled The Brave and the Bold, the project will follow the Caped Crusader as he struggles to connect with his estranged son, Damian. Meanwhile, Gunn continues to oversee development of a sequel to director Matt Reeves' The Batman. As the film slowly chugs along in its early production phases, Gunn also discussed the potential for Robert Pattinson's iteration of the Dark Knight to appear in the DCU -- a prospect Gunn called unlikely, but also not impossible. "I would never say zero, because you just never know," Gunn said. "But it's not likely. It's not likely at all."
