Days After Calling Out LeBron James For Kevin Durant Take, Paul Pierce's NBA Show Cancelled In Major Changes At FS1
Days After Calling Out LeBron James For Kevin Durant Take, Paul Pierce's NBA Show Cancelled In Major Changes At FS1 originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Paul Pierce's NBA show 'Speak' on Fox Sports 1 has been cancelled with two other shows, in a major shake-up at the sports broadcasting giant, FS1, amid falling TV ratings. This news comes just days after Pierce called out LeBron James for not naming him with Kevin Durant as the best-equipped scorer in NBA history. Advertisement As a result of the major changes, Fox Sports 1 has also let Joy Taylor, the renowned TV host, go altogether. According to Andrew Merchand of The Athletic, Joy Taylor's contract was up with FS1, and they decided not to renew her contract amid her ongoing lawsuit controversy, despite nearly a decade with the company. Simultaneously, FS1 also cancelled two other shows, 'The Facility' with Emmanuel Acho, Chase Daniel, James Jones, and LeSean McCoy, and 'The Breakfast Ball' hosted by Craig Carton, Mark Schlereth, and Danny Parkins. What Paul Pierce Said About LeBron James And Kevin Durant Just days before Fox Sports 1 decided to cancel 'Speak', which was co-hosted by Paul Pierce, Keyshawn Johnson, and Joy Taylor, Pierce made some eye-opening comments on the show that went viral on social media. Advertisement Kevin Durant's podcast episode with LeBron James had just been released, where James hailed Durant for being arguably the most equipped scorer in NBA history. Pierce seemingly was offended by that and felt he also belonged in the same discussion. He went on 'Speak' and expressed his opinions on what James said, following which he faced backlash from fans for seeming overconfident about his abilities. "I was probably the best pure scorer in the history of the game, because I was pretty equipped. I'm just saying, I need to be in this conversation... I must've been one of the most equipped." "I think when he talks about him, he talks about efficiency. Cause I shot more bad shots than Kevin... but Kevin, because he's seven feet, he can get his shot off on anybody. He doesn't really see defense, you know what I'm saying? That's why he's so efficient; there's nobody at his height on the perimeter. He changed the way you look at perimeter; he pretty much changed the game on the perimeter. Like being a seven-foot two-guard?" Advertisement "Like, come on, the biggest two-guard when I came in was 6'5 or 6'6... he's a center playing at the point guard, two-guard. All his match-ups and the way he shoots the ball and gets to the hole, he is efficient with it. So I can see why LeBron would say that, but you got to put me in that talk when you talk about the most-equipped scorers, man." While the clips from the show itself went viral and thousands of people saw it, the TV ratings remained stagnant and seemingly on the decline. The cancellation comes as part of broader programming changes at the network, though the timing raises questions about the role of recent controversies. On one hand, Taylor had worked with the network for nearly a decade, but on the other, this is not the first time a TV network has cut ties with Pierce. In 2021, as well, following an Instagram Live video controversy, ESPN cut ties with Paul Pierce before he joined FS1 in 2024. Things seem to be on pause for Pierce's career as a TV Host, but the bigger question here is whether the recent controversies pushed FS1 to make the call on this. I guess we'll never know, or only time will tell if reliable sources surface on this. For now, they claim it is only the falling TV ratings that prompted this decision. Travis Kelce's romance with Taylor Swift and off-field engagements affected his 2024 season? Eric Mangini comments
Travis Kelce is one of the most prominent NFL players. He is known to have performed exceptionally well during matches. But last year, his performance was not among his best ones, especially during the Super Bowl LIX showdown against the Eagles. Meanwhile, the dating rumors about him and Taylor Swift have also been making headlines. And now, ex-Browns head coach Eric Mangini shared his opinion on Travis Kelce 's underwhelming form. During his candid appearance on The Breakfast Ball show, Eric Mangini cited multiple factors that led the NFL star to fall short of expectations. He said that Travis's off-field commitments and related engagements resulted in his poor performance. Not only this, but Mangini also mentioned 'budding romance' but did not take Taylor Swift's name, thereby referring to the ongoing development in a subtle way. 'When you look at his offseason last year, it was filled with everything but football. So, he's got the budding romance, he's on tour, he's traveling overseas, all that stuff, which is, which is great. Then he's got the TV show. So, he films the TV show. Good with that, too. Then he's got the podcast,' remarked the ex-Browns head coach. He went on to add that Kelce got so many things on his plate, making it challenging for him to balance football and his other commitments. 'I'm not angry at him taking advantage of the opportunities, but I do think that put him a little bit behind the eight-ball going into the season,' said Eric. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's engagement rumors Lately, social media has been flooded with speculations regarding why Travis Kelce has not proposed to Taylor Swift yet. A new report from the Daily Mail revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs star is likely to plan the proposal when not playing football or not preparing for a crucial NFL season. For the unversed, the songstress is reportedly spending some private and quiet moments with Travis following her Eras Tour. Keep an eye on Pinkvilla for more such updates!

Former Super Bowl Champion Thinks T.J. Watt Should Be ‘Pissed Off' at Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt during a game against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 8, 2024. -- Ed Thompson / Steelers Now Former Denver Broncos offensive lineman and three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth thinks T.J. Watt has a valid reason to be upset with how the Pittsburgh Steelers have treated him this offseason. Advertisement 'I'd be pissed off if I was T.J. Watt also,' Schlereth said on FS1's The Breakfast Ball. Watt created a stir in Steelers Nation on Wednesday when he posted a photo of himself putting up the peace out sign on his Instagram Story. It got many speculating that contract negotiations have not gone well with the Steelers brass. 'If you're T.J. Watt, you say, 'Wait a minute now you just made DK Metcalf a big-time player, big-time pay at the wide receiver position for our team. He's never done squat for us,' Schlereth said. 'You did that on the offseason, and now you're flirting with Aaron Rodgers.' That's all we're consumed about. That's all we talk about. Meanwhile, I'm going into the last year of my deal and you got Myles Garrett making $20 million more than me. Unacceptable.' Ian Rapoport of NFL Network thinks Watt's cryptic post is strong indication that he's not happy with his contract situation. Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett both got massive deals this offseason. Garrett is averaging $40 million per year, while Crosby is making $35.5 million per year. Advertisement 'Rarely is it actually nothing. Generally, when a player makes a cryptic social media post … it's almost never nothing,' Rapoport said on Good Morning Football. 'T.J. Watt is in a contract negotiation situation with the Pittsburgh Steelers. … Generally, when a player makes a social media post that forces us to talk about it on TV like we're doing right now, it is because contract negotiations are not going as well as anybody had hoped.' J.J. Watt said last month that the Steelers messed up by not giving his brother T.J. Watt an extension sooner. They'll now have to pay even more after Crosby and Garrett got paid handsomely. 'Reward your players earlier and reap the benefits in the long run. Dragging it out not only ends up costing more, it creates unnecessary tension. The longer you wait, the higher the price,' J.J. Watt wrote on X in response to a Brett Kollerman post that said dragging stuff out is the worst way to do things. J.J. Watt said on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday that the Steelers should have extended T.J. Watt last year. Advertisement 'The earlier you get the deal done, the better deal you get. That's just a fact,' Watt said. 'That's why, my personal belief, they should have done it last year because I think there was a hometown discount to be had last year. But now the longer you wait this year, you've got Micah [Parsons] coming up. Like you said, you got Aidan Hutchinson, you got Myles [Garrett]. These guys are getting new deals. 'That number's gonna inch closer to four in front of than threes. So you're gonna want to get that done earlier rather than later because the price isn't going down.' Watt, 30, did have a bit of a down year in 2024, registering the third least sacks in a season (11.5) in his career. The other two seasons were his rookie year (seven sacks) and 2022 (5.5 sacks) when he played in just 10 games due to a knee injury. Watt has also never won a playoff game, so there's been some speculation that he would want to move on somewhere else to compete for a Super Bowl. He shut down those rumors, however, stating that he wants to be with the Steelers for the rest of his career. Advertisement 'I want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler,' Watt said. 'You guys know that. I don't want to leave this place. I want to be part of the solution. I've put so much into it here.' Watt is heading into the final year on his contract, but he's expected to receive an extension this offseason. 'I feel like we have the pieces,' Watt said. 'It's what I said a week ago going into the game. It doesn't change just because of the loss. I still have a lot of belief in the people in this building because I see the work that's behind the scenes.' This article originally appeared on Steelers Now: &&POSTLINK%% Related Headlines
