Leanne and Dan, who run the YouTube channel The Buddymoon, have been discovering the picturesque locations of Wales in their van, covering everything from the Brecon Beacons all the way up to the Llangollen Canal. ‌ In the most recent instalment of their Welsh journey, entitled 'I Think We Have Found The Best Part of Wales', the pair hit the road to explore what the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd has to offer. ‌ During their trip, the couple appeared to relish the sights, stopping at local gems including Porthmadog, Criccieth, and the whistling sands of Traeth Porthor. ‌ But when they reached a well-known village, the couple faced a particular challenge. This could have been because their vehicle was too "big" as upon arrival, they discovered they couldn't "even stop". Probably saying it wrong, but we can't find any parking, so I don't think it's going to be a town that we can actually stop in, but it looks absolutely beautiful." Indeed, it has been dubbed the "Welsh Riviera" and "Cheshire-by-the-sea". This delightful destination was even recognised as one of Britain's most coveted locations in 2023 by ‌ Leanne also observed that Abersoch was "definitely a lot busier" than the previous stop on their tour, but went on to describe it as "really cute" while highlighting the delightful independent shops and cafés. She revealed that as a youngster, her father would take them to the harbour during seaside trips, where they would similarly observe the boats coming and going. Leanne said it was "such a fun time" to sit and watch this happen, adding that it was a "nostalgic moment" that she was feeling in Abersoch. Dan subsequently remarked that Abersoch appeared "very nice" from their aerial drone, describing the view as "absolutely incredible."

Tourists find 'absolutely beautiful' North Wales village but immediately notice problem

A couple encountered an unforeseen problem when they visited an "absolutely beautiful" village in North Wales. Leanne and Dan, the faces behind the YouTube channel The Buddymoon, have been exploring the idyllic sights of Wales in their van, spanning everywhere from the Brecon Beacons right up to the Llangollen Canal. In the latest video instalment of their Welsh adventure, titled 'I Think We Have Found The Best Part of Wales', the couple takes to the road to investigate the sights on offer on the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd. On their travels, the couple seemed to enjoy the sights, visiting local favourites such as Porthmadog, Criccieth, and the whistling sands of Traeth Porthor. However, when they arrived at a popular village, they experienced a specific problem, possibly due to their transport being too "big". As they entered, they learned that they couldn't "even stop". Dan said: "So we just come to a town called Abersoch - Abersoch? Probably saying it wrong, but we can't find any parking, so I don't think it's going to be a town that we can actually stop in, but it looks absolutely beautiful. "Like, over here, you can see the beach and the mountains and the greenery, but we can't find any parking; we're too big. Guess we're not going to be able to explore this town because we can't park the van." Abersoch is a small seaside village that offers visitors access to picturesque beaches and watersports, including wakeboarding, paddleboarding, waterskiing, sailing and windsurfing. Known as the "Welsh Riviera" and "Cheshire-by-the-sea", the village was even named one of the most desirable locations in the UK in 2023 by Leanne noted that Abersoch was "definitely a lot busier" than the last place they visited, but dubbed it "really cute" and pointed out the charming local shops and cafes. She also spotted tractors launching boats on the beach, so, undeterred by the parking situation, Leanne left Dan and the van at the top of a path so she could take a look. In a nostalgic recollection, Leanne highlighted how the tractors brought the boats in and out of the water, prompting her to recall a similar scene from her childhood. She explained that when she was little, her father used to take them to the harbour when they visited the seaside, where they would also watch the boats go in and out. Leanne said it was "such a fun time" to sit and watch this happen, adding that it was a "nostalgic moment" that she was feeling in Abersoch. The couple's praise of the village didn't end there, however. Dan later noted that Abersoch was also "very nice" from above with their drone, saying it looked "absolutely incredible."

Tourists visiting North Wales blown away by 'absolute gem' of a beach

A couple visiting North Wales was recently blown away by a "gem of a beach" on the picturesque Llŷn Peninsula. Leanne and Dan, the South African couple behind The Buddymoon on YouTube, recently travelled around Wales in their van, taking in everywhere from Cardiff to the Brecon Beacons. In their latest video, titled 'I Think We Have Found The Best Part of Wales', the couple spends time exploring the Llŷn Peninsula, stopping at places such as Porthmadog, Criccieth, and Abersoch. Leanne and Dan seemed to enjoy the idyllic sights as they travelled around, but they were especially struck by a beach with an unusual nickname on the northern coast of the peninsula. Dan said: "There are so many beaches that are recommended in this part of Wales, so we thought we, at least, have to try one of them." They'd stopped at Traeth Porthor, a secluded beach located just a short 10-minute drive from the former fishing village of Aberdaron. Sharing her thoughts as they walked, Leanne declared: "Well, this is a pretty beach." Set beneath imposing grassy cliffs and situated on the Llŷn Heritage Coast, it offers impressive views of the rugged Welsh coastline and ideal conditions for surfing and bodyboarding. Dan said: "Looks like we have found ourselves a little bit of a gem of a beach. This place is nice!" The couple then found a spot on the sand where Leanne could relax with a book while Dan braved the icy waters. Later, as they made their way across the sand, they were seemingly delighted to discover that their movements emitted a strange sound, with Dan dubbing it "weirdly entertaining". Known as Whistling Sands, Traeth Porthor enjoys the moniker due to a somewhat unique natural phenomenon —a whistle or squeak that occurs when people stamp or slide their feet on the sand in certain conditions. It's thought this happens when the unusually shaped sand particles rub together as people walk across them in warm weather. Some of the local wildlife that could be on display at Traeth Porthor includes seals and various bird species, including guillemots, kittiwakes, yellowhammers, choughs, razorbills, shags, and cormorants. It comes hot on the heels of a recent report that highlighted how the beach boasts a huge number of good and excellent reviews on Tripadvisor (an impressive 260 out of 290 reviews). One said: "We visited Porthor Beach recently and had a lovely time soaking in the natural beauty of the place. The beach itself is stunning—clean, peaceful, and set against a gorgeous backdrop of rolling hills. It's ideal for a relaxed day out, with crystal-clear water and soft, golden sand. "Despite its nickname 'Whistling Sands,' the sand wasn't whistling during our visit—maybe it depends on the weather or how dry the sand is. Still, it was a scenic and peaceful spot well worth the trip."
