NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers give LB Fred Warner 3-year contract extension
NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers give LB Fred Warner 3-year contract extension The Cardinals could face Warner another another eight times. The San Francisco 49ers, one of the Arizona Cardinals' NFC West rivals, are at it again. Days after they gave quarterback Brock Purdy a massive contract extension, they have given an extension to one of their key starters. This time it is linebacker Fred Warner. Warner and the Niners agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $63 million that includes $56 million in guarantees. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, it is the second time in his seven-year career that he has been made the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL. Warner is the centerpiece of the Niners' defense. He has been a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro four times, including the last three years. He has missed one game in his career. Last season, he had 131 total tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, two quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions, one he returned for a touchdown. He had two years remaining on the five-year extension he got in 2021 and is now under contract through 2029. Arizona Cardinals cap 2025 NFL draft taking Nevada S Kitan Crawford in the 7th round
Arizona Cardinals cap 2025 NFL draft taking Nevada S Kitan Crawford in the 7th round The Cardinals ended their 2025 draft taking an athletic safety with extensive special teams experience. The Arizona Cardinals wrapped up their work in the NFL draft on Saturday with their seventh-round selection. Using the 225th pick in the draft, the selection they received from the Kansas City Chiefs last year for pass rusher Cam Thomas, they took one more defensive player, landing Nevada safety Kitan Crawford. Crawford is very athletic. At 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, he ran the 40 in 4.41 seconds, had a 6.81-second three-cone, 41.5-inch vertical and 128-inch broad jump. He spent four seasons playing for Texas before transferring to Nevada for his final season. In 2024, he had 76 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions and seven pass breakups. But what will earn him a spot on the roster as a rookie will be his special teams play. He logged 1,010 special teams snaps in his career, had 17 special team tackles and blocked both a field goal and a punt. And that wraps up the Cardinals' 2025 draft. They took six defensive players and one offensive lineman. They addressed every position on defense. Crawford is the final part. Grade the Arizona Cardinals' pick of DL Walter Nolen in the first round
Grade the Arizona Cardinals' pick of DL Walter Nolen in the first round The Cardinals are happy they got Walter Nolen in the first round. Are you? The Arizona Cardinals made their first-round selection of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday, selecting defensive lineman Walter Nolen out of Ole Miss. There is a lot to like about the pick. He is big, athletic and was one of the most disruptive defensive linemen in the nation in 2024. He plays well against the run and against the pass. But what do you think of the pick? What grade would you give the pick? Give your grade in the form: You can even see the results. This 3-round mock draft for Arizona Cardinals would be hard not to like
This 3-round mock draft for Arizona Cardinals would be hard not to like The Cardinals land a defensive tackle, a pass rusher and an offensive lineman in this three-round mock draft from The Athletic. We are days away from the 2025 NFL draft and that means there is time for a few more mock drafts. The Athletic's Harrison Baumgardner has a new three-round mock draft. Miami quarterback Cam Ward is unsurprisingly the first pick in the draft, taken by the Tennessee Titans and two-position star Travis Hunter goes second overall to the Cleveland Browns. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders falls all the way to the 21st pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers, so they don't even have to trade up for him. But what about the Arizona Cardinals? Let's have a look at the three-round projections for them. Arizona Cardinals three-round mock draft picks Round 1 (No. 16 overall): Oregon DT Derrick Harmon Round 2 (No. 47 overall): Tennessee EDGE James Pearce Jr. Round 3 (No. 78 overall): N.C. State OT Anthony Belton Analysis of picks The Cardinals won't go wrong taking Harmon in the first round, who has incredible upside. His size, athleticism and ability to play both the pass and run make him a potential All-Pro. He will have to earn playing time as a rookie in a deep defensive line room, but, along with 2024 first-round pick Darius Robinson, he gives the Cardinals two young, dynamic interior rushers. And then to land Pearce in Round 2 is a steal. He is one of the most athletic edge rushers of the draft class. He had "only" 7.5 sacks in 2024 but led the SEC with 10 in 2023. Adding Belton in the third round is just a solid addition, especially with the defensive front addressed early. It would be hard for any Cardinals fan to complain about having the first three rounds play out like this.
