Did Akshay Kumar And Vicky Kaushal Really Fight Over Operation Sindoor Film? Twinkle Khanna Clarifies

You must be living under a rock if you haven't heard about the announcement of the film Operation Sindoor and the backlash that followed. Days after the announcement, rumours began circulating that Akshay Kumar and Vicky Kaushal were in a tussle over who would get to make the film. When these rumours reached Akshay's wife, author Twinkle Khanna, she didn't hold back from confronting him. In her column for the Times of India, Twinkle shared that she came across tweets claiming that Akshay was 'fighting with' actor Vicky Kaushal over the project. When she asked Akshay about it, he clarified that it was all fake news. She wrote, "I come across a flurry of tweets and I call the man of the house and start arguing. 'I just read that you are fighting with Vicky Kaushal over who gets to make a movie on Operation Sindoor.' He sighs and says, 'It's fake news.'" About the controversy around Operation Sindoor film: On May 10, Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films, in collaboration with The Content Engineer, announced a project titled Operation Sindoor. The film is inspired by India's military operation following the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The announcement came at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan were at their peak. This led to backlash over the timing of the reveal. Soon after, director Uttam Maheshwari issued a public apology, stating that the 'intent was never to hurt or provoke anyone's sentiments.' 'However, I understand the timing and sensitivity may have caused discomfort or pain to some. For that, I deeply regret,' the director added. After Uttam Maheshwari's apology, producers Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani shared an Instagram post announcing that they are 'not associated' with Operation Sindoor. Akshay Kumar says his ‘leg is on fire' as Twinkle Khanna asks him about ‘fighting with Vicky Kaushal over Operation Sindoor film'

Twinkle Khanna, who retired from acting in 2001, turned writer with her books Mrs Funnybones, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, and Pyjamas are Forgiving. Famously known for her wit and sharp takes on current events, Twinkle Khanna penned a write-up about how tensions escalated between India and Pakistan and fake news held a field day. The actor touched on everything from fake paneer and fake headlines in the piece — including coming across tweets that suggested that her husband, actor Akshay Kumar, and Vicky Kaushal were fighting over the rights to make a film on Operation Sindoor. The author wrote that she immediately dialled Akshay, wanting to get to the bottom of it. However, Akshay dismissed it as fake news and told her that his leg is on fire and they will talk later. Twinkle dismissed it as an excuse, in fact hoping that her husband can devise better excuses if he wants to get rid of her. However, on this account, she was proved wrong as Akshay actually walked in later with his a bandage on his calf. 'Apparently, his leg was truly on fire for a scene. Nowadays, it is so difficult to figure out what is true that I look at every piece of information suspiciously,' Twinkle wrote. In the days following India launching Operation Sindoor on terror camps across the border, a film on it was announced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer. They received a backlash after the poster of the film, titled Operation Sindoor, was launched. In the poster, a woman soldier was seen with a rifle in one hand and sindoor (vermilion) in the other. She is surrounded by tanks and fighter jets. Later, the makers apologised if they hurt sentiments, claiming they were moved by 'the courage, sacrifice, and strength of our soldiers and leadership' to launch the film. In the column she wrote for Times of India, Twinkle also said that her mother Dimple Kapadia accused her of running her household poorly as the quantity of paneer made at her home is not up to the mark. 'In her house, one litre of milk yields 250 gm of paneer, and at mine, we get 180 gram.' According to Dimple Kapadia this is not a matter of bovine output but maternal failure. In the same column, Twinkle also took a dig at the decision of Indian Music Companies removing the pictures of Pakistani Artists from album covers. She said, 'I propose that we get all of Abida Parveen and Farida Khanum's songs redubbed by our very own Dhinchak Pooja.'

'Operation Sindoor' film announcement sparks backlash, director issues apology: 'As a filmmaker, I was moved by...'

The announcement of a film based on Operation Sindoor, India's recent military strikes in Pakistan, has sparked a major controversy and backlash, prompting the director to issue an apology. The film, titled 'Operation Sindoor', was announced on Friday night by director Uttam Maheshwari on social media. The project will be produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer. The makers also shared a poster which featured a woman soldier wearing combat gear and holding a weapon. She is seen applying sindoor, the red vermillion worn by married Hindu women, to her hair parting. The scene is set in a battlefield with explosions, barbed wire, military tanks, and fighter jets. India carried out the targeted strikes on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early Wednesday under 'Operation Sindoor', two weeks after the massacre of 26 people, mostly tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The announcement of the movie faced backlash, with many social media users criticising its timing. 'Sharam karo yaar, war is on. (Have some shame),' said one user. Another person wrote, ''Sindoor' or 'Operation Sindoor' should not be commercialised by corporations or the film industry (to make a movie in that title!) for profit. Legally, it may be allowed—but morally, it's wrong. Some things deserve respect, not a chance to cash in..' 'Stop embarrassing yourself and your country,' read one post. 'This is so inappropriate and uncalled for,' one user posted. One user criticised the film's team, saying that it should be boycotted. 'They can stoop to such levels of disgrace and disrespect for the nation and our armed forces soldiers' who are at the frontline sacrificing their sweat and blood. At this hour of crisis it Wasn't required at all!!!!' the post added. Following the criticism, Maheshwari, whose past work as a filmmaker is not known, issued an apology on his Instagram Stories. 'My sincere apologies for recently announcing a film based on Operation Sindoor, inspired by the recent heroic efforts of our Indian Armed Forces. The intent was never to hurt or provoke anyone's sentiments. 'As a filmmaker, I was moved by the courage, sacrifice, and strength of our soldiers and leadership, and simply wished to bring this powerful story to light. This project was born out of deep respect and love for our nation and not for fame and monetisation,' he wrote. Maheshwari said he is aware that the timing of the movie may have caused 'discomfort or pain to some'. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'For that, I deeply regret. This is not just a film, it's an emotion of the entire nation and a social image of the country globally,' he said, while thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'Our love and prayers will always be with the families of the martyrs as well as the Bravo warriors who are fighting on the border day and night to give us a new morning.
