The Three ringside judges in Glasgow called it: 116-113, 116-112 and 115-113. Scotland's former undisputed super-lightweight king raced away with the opener, jabbing Essuman's head but then brutalising his body. Essuman enjoyed some right-hand success in the second but it was Taylor who was always landing the more punishing blows, especially to the torso. Taylor shipped another right hand as soon as the third started and failed to box his way back the session. And the fourth was a screamer as Essuman was wobbled by a left hand and then Taylor was staggered by a right. A seventh-round head clash cut Taylor around his left eye and gave Essuman a big red bullseye to aim for. And Essuman's scores and confidence grew as the fight went on, as Taylor kept trying to land a stunning stoppage and allowed his rival to snatch rounds. The tenth was a brilliant round for the away fighter who was supposed to give Taylor a warm and victorious welcome to the 10st 7lb division. Taylor stopped punching back in the championship rounds as Essuman exposed him with so much more energy and enthusiasm right up until the final bell. 2 The pair slugged it out in a high-class contest Credit: PA

Josh Taylor vs Ekow Essuman LIVE RESULTS: Moses Itauma on undercard as Taylor looks to make winning return on home soil

JOSH TAYLOR will be desperate to make his home crowd proud TONIGHT as he faces Ekow Essuman in Glasgow with the WBO International title up for grabs. The Scotsman needs a win to revive his career after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Teofimo Lopez and Jack Catterall. However, Taylor has his work cut out with 36-year-old Essuman as the Engine goes into this bout having convincingly retained his WBO title during his last encounter against Ben Vaughan. A packed undercard also includes highly touted heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma - who is expected to fight for a world title in the near future. 3 minutes ago By Nyle Smith Welcome Josh Taylor takes on Ekow Essuman in a Scottish homecoming fight TONIGHT! Taylor is looking to rectify back-to-back defeats as he takes on 36-year-old Essuman. 'The Tartan Tornado' Taylor comes into the clash off the back of two losses, having been beaten by Teofimo Lopez before losing his rematch to Jack Catterall in May 2024. Ekow 'The Engine' Essuman comes into the bout with a record of 21-1-0, with eight of his 21 victories coming by KO. Essuman's only defeat came at the hands of Harry Scarff in 2023, losing by unanimous decision in Manchester, meaning Taylor will look to be the first man to KO Essuman to get back to form. The Engine in turn looks to be the first man to KO Taylor, with both of his defeats coming by unanimous decision, with whoever can score the victory becoming the WBO international welterweight champion. But before this huge fight, there are several thrilling bouts on the undercard.

'It will be the making of him'

Carl Frampton says we will find out just how much Josh Taylor has got left to give to boxing when he takes on Ekow Essuman in Glasgow on Saturday capturing all four belts at light-welterweight, Taylor has made the decision to step up a division to welterweight, a move Frampton believes the Scot "should have made a few fights ago".The Tartan Tornado is looking to get his career back on track following back-to-back defeats to Teofimo Lopez and Jack Catterall."I'm looking forward to seeing the new version of Josh Taylor, the welterweight version," Frampton told BBC Scotland."Light-welterweight was just hard for him, but I imagine we're going to see a rejuvenated Josh Taylor and I'm excited about it."It's a really under-the-radar dangerous fight because Ekow is maybe not the biggest name in the world, but he's a really good fighter, strong as a bull, fit as a fiddle. "Ekow 'The Engine' is his nickname and he'll be there all night and he'll be trying all night."Josh will be in a fight and I think we'll find out how much Josh actually has left in this game after the performance."I fancy Josh to win it, I think he'll look good winning it as well but no doubt Ekow will cause him a few problems." Taylor's stated aim is to emulate Frampton by becoming a two-weight world champion, and the Northern Irishman believes the 34-year-old is capable of climbing to the top of the mountain again in a new division."I think it's going to be the making of him now moving up to welterweight," Frampton said."Undisputed light-welterweight champion, a marquee division, he's done that, he's ticked that box. "If he retired tomorrow his career has been incredible, but I think Josh wants to win a world title in the second division, in the welterweight division, another marquee division and I think he can do it."A two-weight world champion to go along with the undisputed champion at 140. What a fighter - he doesn't get the credit he deserves."

Last year, Avangrid invested $107M in innovation projects and executed more than ten pilot technology projects with innovative companies and startups. Tyba, LineVision and Boston Dynamics are three examples of recent pilots on display at the forum. These pilots are ambitious initiatives in facilitating energy storage deployment, dynamic line rating, and substation operations. The 2025 Innovation Forum included a distinguished keynote panel to drill down on what it takes to develop and adopt innovation in the energy industry. Yet Ming-Chiang, MIT Professor and Co-Founder of more than six startups, including long duration energy storage company Form Energy and decarbonized cement company Sublime Systems, shared his perspective on scaling 'tough tech' at speed. Stan Whittingham, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his development of lithium-ion batteries in 2019 and is now a distinguished professor at SUNY Binghamton, shared his experience from decades of research and development in the industry. He serves as the Chief Innovation Officer of the New Energy New York (NENY) project, a hub for battery innovation led by Binghamton University. On top of critical partnerships with research institutions and startup pilot projects, Avangrid promotes innovation through its One Avangrid Accelerator Program and annual student Hackathon. During the second day of the event, Avangrid hosted its inaugural Startup Pitch Competitions to select and fund its next pilot projects. In March, the company opened applications to startups aligned with the theme of 'optimizing the planning, development and operations of energy assets' and received more than 70 applications. After a rigorous selection process, six innovative startups were invited to present their technologies to a panel of expert judges from Avangrid, The Engine, and NREL during the Forum. Firescape was selected as the winner for its advanced wildfire risk and mitigation analytics platform designed for utility applications. The company uses remote sensing and machine learning to help utilities assess and manage wildfire threats, plan mitigation strategies, and improve incident response and recovery. The company is based on Albuquerque, New Mexico and is founded by members of Sandia National Labs. The last portion of Avangrid's Innovation Week included a Career Trek program for approximately 80 university students, who had the opportunity to hear from senior leaders within the company, learn about open roles, and grow their network.
