Sarah Greene's love with dead husband's friend after message from 'beyond grave'
The Finish Line's Sarah Greene was left a widow in 2014 after her former radio DJ husband, Mike Smith, passed away – but she later found love with one of his oldest friends The Finish Line star Sarah Greene once opened up about her love life since the passing of her husband, Mike Smith. Former Blue Peter and Saturday Superstore presenter Sarah, 67, returned to our screens back in 2023 alongside Roman Kemp for the BBC One quiz show. She shared a deeply personal connection between her late husband, the iconic Radio 1 Breakfast Show and Top Of The Pops host who tragically died in 2014 following complications from heart surgery, and her current partner, ex-racing driver Robb Gravett. The TV star explained that Gravett, a close friend of the couple, came into her life through what she feels was Mike's celestial intervention. In an intimate confession on the My Time Capsule podcast back in 2022, Greene recalled loving memories of Smith, hinting at his influence from beyond: "I sort of know Mike is pulling so many strings in my life." She elaborated: "He has undoubtedly been responsible for me meeting my beloved who was one of his oldest friends, who waited a certain amount of time but did keep leaving messages on the answering machine. I thought he was just being kind". And continuing, she explained when the truth hit her, saying: "Then I got a message almost saying 'For God's sake, Greeno, Robb is trying to make contact with you because he actually wants to take you out, not because he's kind. So will you just get off your arse and go and answer the phone next time it rings!' "And lo and behold, a whole new conversation started. I'm sure, and Robb is very sure too, because it's a very strange situation." She detailed how she was worried about the relationship in the early days: "I remember being terribly worried and saying to the dear man who I'd known for all these years, 'Isn't it strange coming into the house and seeing all these pictures everywhere of Mike?'" "He said, 'No, no, it's not strange. It'd be strange if they weren't there. And remember, I love him too.'" Talking about working with Roman on The Finish Line, Sarah acknowledged her co-host's better ability to mask his emotions stating, "Roman has a much better poker face than I do. You can read my face from a mile off. But I have to remind myself I'm pretending to be Richard Osman on Pointless. That's the acting skill coming in." Back in 2017, Sarah presented This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, covering for Holly Willoughby, in a throwback to their children's TV days together. She returned the same year to present alongside Rylan Clark.

The Chase star points out major issue 'ruining' rival ITV gameshow
A major star of The Chase has taken a big swipe at a rival ITV gameshow after claiming that a surprise was 'ruined' at the end of an episode. Mark Labbett, better known as The Beast, has been part of The Chase's iconic line-up of quiz masterminds ever since its inception 16 years ago. ITV recently drafted in Doctor Who star David Tennant to present Genius Game, a brand new quiz show going out on Wednesday evenings. The gameshow involves contestants initially working together but eventually being forced to put themselves first in a bid to win a cash prize. However, watching on at home, Mark criticised the editing on the new show, claiming that big reveals are already obvious to viewers before they're made. On X, he said that the editing on the show is 'ruining the play-along factor,' finishing up his message with a sad-faced emoji to drive home his disappointment. His comments about the show then appeared to be backed up by a contestant who was on the very episode he was watching – Rebecca, 37, from Huddersfield. Posting from an account that seems to belong to Rebecca, with the name @RebeccaKellett, she concurred with Mark's thoughts, adding: 'Totally agree'. When @ShawnCBrown said, 'The editing of this show is awful. We know the Red Team has won now – there's no jeopardy,' the same @RebeccaKellett account said: 'I know! I wish they'd held off telling us white had lost.' Eagle-eyed fans who watch quiz shows almost every day of the week also spotted West Yorkshire native Rebecca on an episode of The Finish Line this week. @BCFCBradz, who had been watching Genius Game, took a photo of his TV when he spotted Rebecca – going by 'Bex' on TV – on The Finish Line. He tweeted, 'Bex from Genius Game popping up on daytime TV quiz shows,' tagging ITV in his message in a bid to bring it to their attention. @Millardy73 also commented: 'I see Bex from ITV's Genius Game (yes I am still watching it but only for David Tennant) is a bit of a sneaky gamer. Now appearing on The Finish Line. But… which came first!?' The gameshow contestant responded to those tweets too, explaining that she recorded her slot on The Finish Line way before Genius Game. 'The Finish Line came way first. I also did The Chase but I actually won that one,' she said. @BryonyBowes wondered 'if the Genius Game and The Finish Line studios are just next door to each other' after spotting Rebecca twice. Entrepreneur Rebecca explained: 'This is so awkward. They were filmed so far apart.' @CagSib5 asked her 'Did you just apply for a load of TV programs one day?' to which Rebecca reiterated that that wasn't the case: 'They were filmed ages apart.' In response to @ShawnCBrown, who criticised the editing on Genius Game, Rebecca responded: 'I know! I wish they'd held off telling us [who] had lost.' In a post on Instagram under the handle @northernblondeabroad, she wrote about her stint on the gameshow, saying: 'As most of you know I have always been a fan of escape rooms, trivia and problem-solving, so to be part of a show where brains, strategy and fun collide is a dream come true!' Mark's critical comments about Genius Game come just weeks after it was branded 'the most expensive flop' that ITV had suffered in several years. More Trending In the aftermath of the first few episodes, it was quickly rumoured that the muted reception from viewers had resulted in an urgent scheduling change from ITV. Only 1.2 million viewers tuned in for the first episode (via Broadcast Now), significantly behind Race Across the World, which pulled in 3.1 million in the same timeslot over on BBC One. ITV then confirmed that Genius Game would air only on Wednesdays over the next seven weeks, with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? celebrity specials taking the Thursday, May 8 slot. GBBO star Roman Kemp's 'debilitating' health battle that saw him quit job
Roman Kemp has become a familiar face on our TV screens, regularly presenting The One Show and his own game show The Finish Line. But while on camera he is full of life and laughter, every night he has to wear an oxygen mask to bed. Read more Noel Fielding's rock star ex before settling down The son of Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp even quit his Capital breakfast show because of the toll the condition takes on him. Speaking to Mail Online, the presenter who dealt with five years of demanding early starts for his show, said: "My tiredness levels were debilitating, and they said to me it was because of my job and I said this is different. "I was talking with people where I thought I was verging on narcolepsy because I was mid-conversation and would be snoring and not realising, it was very strange. "The doctors told me I must wear an oxygen mask. There is absolutely nothing sexy about going back to Roman Kemp's house. "They are expecting candles and mood lighting but they're getting a Darth Vader impression into an oxygen tank." Roman presented his final show as Capital's breakfast show host in March last year. Roman has also been open about suffering panic attacks and depression since age 15 and has taken sertraline, a type of antidepressant medication, for 12 years to help manage his depression. In his BBC documentary - The Fight For Young Lives - Roman shared: "These are thoughts that I've been dealing with in my own head since I was around 15. "I guess when I'm in that place where I haven't taken my meds there's a part of me that just [thinks] there's no way out. "It's like there's five doors in front of you and all of them have cement behind them. You feel trapped. "You've got no perspective of a way out and it's a horrible place to be."
