Late Queen was concerned about Harry right before and after marrying Meghan
Prince Harry and the late Queen once shared a close relationship. When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor back in May 2018, it was certainly a grand royal affair. Their stunning nuptials took place before they quit their duties with The Firm, with the Royal Family out in full force. The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex seemed the picture of happiness on their big day, however, behind the scenes, it seems all was not as harmonious as it appeared, with this the start of reported cracks starting to form, writes The Mirror. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward has said that the late Queen Elizabeth was privately 'dismayed' by her grandson's behaviour both before and after his wedding to the Suits actress. Seward claims that the Queen's close friend and cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, said the Queen was left troubled by Harry's 'high-handed attitude' during that period. This apparently is where it started to do downhill, reportedly leaving their relationship moving forward 'badly damaged'. 'Tiara tantrums and raised voices' One disagreement came after Meghan's chosen tiara, the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau, was at the last minute kept from her so she couldn't access the headpiece for a hair trial. Reports at the time claimed the Queen herself stepped in to calm matters and was not impressed by Harry raising his voice at the Queen's dresser, Angela Kelly, over the issue. The Queen also reportedly was unsure about Meghan's choice to wear a white dress and veil, a traditional look usually reserved for brides marrying for the first time. Harry would be Meghan's second husband as she had previously been married to film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013. Elsewhere, Harry was said to have sought special permission to wear his military uniform beard and all despite the Army's usual policy against facial hair while in dress uniform. 'Very hurt' Harry and his grandmother had always shared a close relationship. They even filmed a light-hearted Invictus Games promo together in 2016, showing off their playful dynamic. But they reportedly drifted after Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020. Lady Elizabeth Anson told author Katie Nicholl: 'I don't think the Queen ever truly understood Harry's decision to leave. Turning one's back on duty is completely alien to the Queen and she has been left very hurt by it all.' Oprah interview Things got worse when Harry and Meghan's headline-making interview with Oprah Winfrey took place in 2021. The couple spoke openly about their grievances with The Firm, including very serious allegations about how the family had handled issues of race. Meghan recalled: 'Concerns and conversations about how dark his [Archie's] skin would be when he was born. People were concerned with how dark Archie's skin would be.' It was during this interview that Harry admitted that despite his love for his brother he was on a very different path to him. He also said both William and King Charles were 'trapped' in the institution. Spared the pain of Spare The Queen passed away before the publication of Harry's memoir Spare in 2023, however it's widely believed it would have been deeply unsettling for her. Especially the revelations including Harry's drug use, how he lost his virginity in a field behind a pub, and details about family rows including a tense exchange between Meghan and Kate over 'baby brain' comments. The publication of Harry's book caused further tensions between Harry and the rest of the Royal Family, which in part is why King Charles is claimed not to want to meet with Prince Harry in private. There have been few meetings between the father and son since Harry moved to the US with Meghan. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Late Queen 'dismayed' by Harry's actions right before and after marrying Meghan
Royal sources say the late Queen Elizabeth II was left 'deeply hurt' by Prince Harry's conduct before and after his big day with Meghan Markle, straining a relationship that had once been one of the closest in the family Whilst minimal in comparison to his brother's wedding, when Prince Harry married Meghan Markle at St George's Chapel in Windsor back in May 2018, it was certainly a grand royal affair. It was before any public feud played out after quitting their duties with The Firm, with the Royal Family out in full force. The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked like a fairytale couple. But behind the scenes, it seems all was not as harmonious as it appeared, with this the start of reported cracks starting to form. According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the late Queen Elizabeth was privately 'dismayed' by her grandson's behaviour both before and after the big day. Seward alleges the Queen's close friend and cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, said the Queen was left troubled by Harry's 'high-handed attitude' during that period. This apparently is what tilted the scales, reportedly leaving their relationship 'badly damaged' moving forward, the Daily Mail reports. 'Tiara tantrums and raised voices' One heated exchange came after Meghan's chosen tiara, the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau, was at the last minute kept from her so she couldn't access the headpiece for a hair trial. Reports at the time claimed the Queen herself stepped in to calm matters and was not impressed by Harry raising his voice at the Queen's dresser, Angela Kelly, over the issue. The Queen also reportedly raised eyebrows at Meghan's choice to wear a white dress and veil, a traditional look usually reserved for brides marrying for the first time. Meghan had previously been married to film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013. Adding to the tension, Harry was said to have sought special permission to wear his military uniform beard and all despite the Army's usual policy against facial hair while in dress uniform. 'Very hurt' Harry and the Queen had always shared a warm relationship. They even filmed a light-hearted Invictus Games promo together in 2016, showing off their playful dynamic. But that closeness reportedly faded after Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal life in 2020. Lady Elizabeth Anson told author Katie Nicholl: 'I don't think the Queen ever truly understood Harry's decision to leave. Turning one's back on duty is completely alien to the Queen and she has been left very hurt by it all.' That The fracture only continued following Harry and Meghan's headline-making interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. The couple spoke openly about their grievances with The Firm, including very serious allegations about how the family had handled issues of race. Meghan recalled: 'Concerns and conversations about how dark his [Archie's] skin would be when he was born. People were concerned with how dark Archie's skin would be.' Especially the revelations including Harry's drug use, how he lost his virginity in a field behind a pub, and details about family rows including a tense exchange between Meghan and Kate over 'baby brain' comments. The publication of Harry's book has only widened the divide between Harry and the rest of the Royal Family, which in part is why King Charles is claimed not to want to meet with Prince Harry in private. There have been few meetings between the father and son since Harry moved to California with Meghan.

King Charles Delays a Major Royal Authority for Prince William and Princess Kate
As thePrince and Princess of Wales, continue to solidify their roles as the next generation of the British monarchy, one traditional royal authority remains notably absent: the power to grant coveted royal warrants. This delay, set against their rising profiles, has become a point of quiet observation and has led to questions regarding 's timeline for bestowing this long-held privilege. For brands across the globe, receiving a royal warrant is a public stamp of approval by the royal household. It's a tradition steeped in history, allowing businesses to showcase their closeness to the Crown, complete with the right to display the royal arms of their grantor. With around 800 current holders, ranging from artisan cheesemakers to global tech giants, the prestige is undeniable. The power to bestow these warrants rests solely with the head of The Firm, and King Charles has, thus far, kept this authority for William and Kate on hold. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 And so it has become a burning question for royal watchers: why is King Charles taking so long to bestow this powerful endorsement tool upon his son and daughter-in-law? While it was excpected that Waleses would be entrusted as "grantors" soon after Charles became king, the wait continues, sparking curiosity and a touch of bewilderment. Reports suggest that some companies already supplying goods to William and Kate have begun to make tentative inquiries about the process, only to be met with the reality that applications cannot even be considered until the King gives the okay. The delay is particularly intriguing given the immense "soft power" the couple wields. HELLO!'s royal editor, Emily Nash, highlights the untapped potential: "For the brands and companies, having the endorsement of a royal warrant from William and Kate would bring huge kudos as well as a huge boost. We've seen the impact of the 'Kate effect' on fashion over the years, so this official royal seal of approval would be huge for the designers, services and companies the couple favor.' But as the months tick by since those significant state occasions, and with the couple's public profiles growing, the backlog explanation has raised a few eyebrows. Is there a reason for King Charles's delay? The monarchy, after all, is an institution that thrives on tradition. Or could it be, as Prince Harry wrote in his memoir Spare, an envious King Charles is managing the rollout of his heirs' influence, or are there other, more bureaucratic factors at play? Hello! claims the Lord Chamberlain's office, which manages the warrant system, has been occupied with the task of updating existing warrants following the late Queen Elizabeth II's reign and those previously issued by Charles as Prince of Wales. As the Prince and Princess of Wales step further into the royal spotlight, royal watchers and hopeful brands are in a state of eager, and perhaps slightly puzzled, anticipation for the King's ultimate decision.

Beckxit is the celebrity soap opera we didn't know we needed
Beckxit. You heard. It's the new portmanteau du jour, one that encapsulates the pain, trauma and heartbreak of – who am I kidding? – it encapsulates the pity party being held by Brooklyn Beckham and Prince Harry, a couple of over-privileged, under-achieving adults bleating and huffing about how ill they've been served by their bewildered parents. And now they are aided and abetted by conspiracy theorists who know for a fact that the uppermost ranks of the British Establishment have frozen them out – because the Princess of Wales wore a new suit… Dun-Dun-Dunnnnn! Yes, it was in a truly horrid colour and the Irish peasant in me wants to say 'dung'; maybe 'escargot' is more acceptable? I think we can all agree that calling it Chartreuse is pushing it. But the point is that the £1,340 worth of tailoring was by none other than – Victoria Beckham. Talk about mode á clef! Fortunately, deciphering the sartorial solidarity didn't take too long. Any number of observers have been tripping over each other to interpret the two-piece as an incontrovertible signal that the Princess – ergo The Firm – was siding with Victoria Beckham, the anguished mother whose eldest child doesn't seem to be talking to her, by supporting Victoria Beckham, the spenny designer label. Cue the whole seven EastEnders' Doofs. Before I go much further, I should like to confirm I'm perfectly well aware there are more pressing geopolitical issues out there and that this sort of tittle tattle is beneath me. Beneath all of us. But the nation needs gaiety, does it not? And now that Married at First Sight: Australia has ended and Love Island hasn't begun, there's just enough bandwidth to get stuck into an ultimately meaningless transatlantic battle for hearts, minds and, in Hazza's case, a guaranteed security detail every time he returns to the Old Country for a frivolously vexatious court appeal followed by a prickly gripe about his dad, King Charles. It was all getting a bit boring, predictable and (whisper it) sad – Harry's a grown a-- man of 40 with two children. But we're all pepped now that new dramatis personae have entered stage right. According to The Sun, Harry has been providing a listening ear to 'influencer' Brooklyn, 26, who can't take photographs or cook very well and has now fallen out with his Bank of Mum and Dad – sorry, I mean parents. Like Harry, he fell in love and married a beautiful, aspiring (I'm not sure at which point 'aspiring' turns into something far less charitable) actress, Nicola Peltz, who once had a part in Transformers: Age of Extinction. Unlike 43-year-old Meghan, Nicola, 30, is an heiress, being the daughter of a billionaire businessman. Personally, for that reason alone, I wouldn't have her in the house. But working 'mom' Meghan is obviously far less mean-spirited than me and found time in between strewing wild flowers and baking Dubai rock buns to have Brooklyn and his Missus round to their mansion in Montecito.

Prince William trying to shed work shy image as he prepares for future role
Prince William has been widely praised for his modern approach to the role of king and his dedication to his family, but he has also faced criticism for one thing Prince William is often hailed as one of the most popular members of the Royal Family, having cultivated an image of a modern man who balances his roles as a father and husband with his public duties. William and Princess Kate are now considered the most influential royal couple, earning widespread praise for their parenting of Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, away from the public eye. However, behind closed doors, William has faced criticism for claims of not being as dedicated to his royal duties as he could be. Even before Kate's cancer diagnosis, the royal league tables of engagements raised questions, with both William and Kate frequently trailing behind older members of The Firm. While royals like Princess Anne and the King rarely take a day off, William has reportedly frustrated Palace staff with his reluctance towards official engagements, particularly those outside the UK. Despite 2024 being a challenging year for the Prince, courtiers noted that he still managed to enjoy trips to Germany for the European Championships, and South Africa for his Earthshot prize, despite declining Royal visits. It was reported that King Charles had to assert his authority last month and compel a reluctant William to attend Pope Francis' funeral in Rome. William's perceived lack of commitment to work was highlighted in a recent New York Times article on the family's rift with Prince Harry. Experts believe he is attempting to shed this image by creating a new one, reports the Scottish Daily Express. Historian Ed Owens shared with the publication that William is "burnishing his reputation as a statesman". He explained: "William has sometimes been seen as work-shy, but we see him gravitating toward bigger, more media-friendly events." Although William's public appearances are less frequent than his father's, they have been of significant importance in recent months. Last December, he was present at the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, an occasion which provided him with the opportunity to spend time with US President Donald Trump. Despite sources suggesting his visit to the Vatican was under duress, it marked another major global event where William was visibly present. The diagnosis of King Charles's cancer has shifted focus towards the future of the monarchy. Mark Landler, the London bureau chief for the NYT, observes that the "job that William does not want, at least for now, is his father's" but "fears over the king's health have made talk of succession inescapable".
